After you finished shaping the shoe and you hold it against the horses hoof, we see what looks like blood begin to pool/bead up at the surface of the toe.
Question: Is this blood?
I know the lamina of the hoof is full of shallow and deep blood vessels, that’s why we can see bruises and scars on the hood wall if a hoof is light in color.
Though i’ve heard of the method, i’ve never seen it done up close before - is it normal for the hoof wall to melt and cause a little bleeding?
Q: If it is blood, won’t there also be nerve endings here protecting the hoof?
Q: Do they feel any pain from the intense heat? Or does the heat of the horseshoe act like a nerve block - basically cauterizing and sterilizing both blood vessels and nerves before signaling pain to the brain?
