o h You do realise that a normal and good car is made so it folds together when it crashes to absorb the impact right? The model x is a bit like a brick
@@Charles-fc9gi yeah and at that speed would probably kill a person by folding too much, thats why the model x scored perfect on the frontal crash tests because of the proper roll cage
Simply amazing.. the battery case is designed to shoulder the impact and does an amazing job. The purpose built EV has a huge advantage over a gas car if designed in this manner.
you could but it has a safety thingy that cuts the power from the batteries making it not drive able until it goes to service center! plus in reality with a crash like that i dont think you could actually drive it because the cooling pump for the batteries is at front and if that is damaged the car won't drive anyway!
вот только хотел сказать - чуть бы доработали капото и лобовое бы осталось целым - присмотрись - уголки капота внизу стекло раздавили внизу по углам с двух сторон (вид сверху где в конце)

where is Tesla "Model X" SMALL overlap Crash Test video and/or test result???? .... that situation is more like the accident last week that killed Wei Huang in CA. ... the entire front end of his Model X was ripped away...everything forward of the steering wheel was gone, including the roof over the front seats !!!
usfdave10 It's not meant to guarantee Everytime your car will save your life, it's just in these tests it did it found the car was much safer than all other SUVs on the market. No one knows how safe compared to a lifted truck or even a school bus. That's the risk you take as a driver
Andrew DeLorenzo of course. But as an engineer we have to take into account all possibilities. Is tesla working with local police/gift to enforce laws stopping unsafe vehicles from being on the road? Buses and semi-trucks have bumpers at legal height. So that wouldn't apply to our convo. Their weight would of course though.
"Vehicles are crashed into a fixed barrier at 35 mph (56.3km/h), which is equivalent to a head-on collision between two similar vehicles each moving at 35 mph" I don't get how driving into wall at 35 mph simulates two car crashing at total of 70 mph
Two cars crashing head-on at 35mph indeed have twice the kinetic energy. However each car absorbs half of it. In the collision-test done here the barrier is completely fixed which means that the impacting car absorbs all of the impact's energy - that makes this test equivalent.
When a car at 35 hits an unmovable wall, it is completely stopped in place. The same thing happens if two cars hit each other at 35. All energy is absorbed, neither car slides forward and dissipates energy into the opposite car, just like hitting a wall.

TheFilmMixer101 It’s very unlikely due to the fact that auto emergency braking systems or basic human reactions will dramatically reduce the impact speed to below 50 mph. If all crash tests were executed from 55-75 mph, all cars will fail to the standard set by the current speed in the modern standard. Especially front-engine gas cars, the impact would set the engine hurling through the passengers.
Suck! it doesn't restrain the seatbelt very well when crash, leaving the victim being thrown towards the block in case of the Airbag late. Don't sleep on the front trunk! it's crushable zone! The interface still works even after crash!
Considering that nearly half of all fatal crashes occur at higher speeds than 50 km/h (this test was ran at 56,3 km/h) and 30% of all fatal crashes at speeds higher than 60 km/h, that would be a good idea. Maybe they should do both a low and high speed test to account for most situations.
I think they might save money on cars if they just crash them at higher speeds. Crash data from higher speeds should provide an accurate picture of how it would perform at lower speeds.
the headlights and centre panel are on, so the battery has to be in there. batteries are manufactured to minimise fire risk. plus the power from the battery cuts off automatically after a crash.

The glass is incredibly strong!
Or maybe the frame simply doesn't distort enough.. the interior and doors are only distorting by about hm.. a half inch. Freaking amazing.
the motor hood of the car crashed the windshield nest at edges, look at the top view
Noé Duran these crash tests are irrelevant
You ain't ever gonna break that glass the windshield is to strong for you.
This aged like milk
Man theses teslas are so strong they need to remove those concrete blocks and put a tesla there instead.

Boy, if smartphone screens still worked after that like the touchscreen, well, the world would be a better place!😊
dang didnt notice that.
Isaac Roufs except it didn't get thrown on the ground or into a wall.. it simply decelerated at a fast speed. any smartphone could do that lmao
SkyHigh True, but still pretty incredible.
The g-force really wasn't that great though, given the human can probably walk away from that crash.
Agreed..i noticed it too.
Awesome! Keep it up!
Who keeps that much dust in their mirrors?

Awesome!! - I told my Dad he needs to buy one,
Model S is better
and cheaper
www.UBUYGAS.com S is better and cheaper imo
His last 4 cars have been SUV's. He said the S is too Low. He wants to sit higher up.
www.UBUYGAS.com Makes sense then. Can't go wrong with either car
The front left mirror got so much dust out of it upon impact. How long did that Tesla stay there without being touched?

LOL! 5 star expected!
SAFEST SUV....another dagger into the hearts of the Tesla Haters!
Yeah but they are still uglier than the preus
@@sarmacdzharmackprotoshr2982 no they aren't.
Karco Engineering did not changed much since 2013. Really great facility that I really missed.
Amazing! As expected from the Safest SUV Available!
Matt McPherson Nope, that’s 2nd. The Model X has the highest Safety Rating of any SUV.
Matt McPherson wrong. The model x is rated the safest suv in the world.
XxGrizzlyTheAirbusA400MxX atlas no bitch boi
XxGrizzlyTheAirbusA400MxX atlas thanks:)
Volvo xc 90 is better
I bet you still can ride it away after that crash =))
BaggioVL15 that would be funny lol

And it would look better
They had to do a frontal crash test with the maximum speed of any current car, for our own safety. Do you agree?
Looking at that bottom view of the battery pack makes me wonder if tesla was build as a ramming car. Good job there :)
How much do you think it will cost to repair that
The video title says Model X - video shows model S?
Kia Rio EX pleaseee!

*wakes up*
WHAT HAPPENED
guys. tell me if I am wrong. The Front wind-shield not even break or crack? thanks
Hie Do That's an amazing sign to owners. Not only is the X extremely safe, that expensive front glass is strong as well
Hie Do of coarse not, it didn't reach it due to the lack of engine

1:22 look at the passenger side there is a little explosion
What’s the car still drivable
Where 's the overlap or offset crash
I noticed that this has to be a 2016 Model X the 2017’s have a matte finish to the back of the seats compared to the 2016 ones which have a glossy finish to them
If Tesla manufactures the two safest vehicles in the world, then why does it seem that it isn't credited as such elsewhere on the internet?
Wait, no curtains?
I think, it's better than S?
Did anyone notice the boot on the car opened
Wow!! That airbag is big

But what about those lifted trucks driven all over the road now. Their bumpers don't make contact at the same height shown here.

Landon Thomas that would put the batteries at risk of rupturing and burning the car down. And that would NOT be a good marketing tool

No they put stuff on the camera and it do not know

the headlights and centre panel are on, so the battery has to be in there. batteries are manufactured to minimise fire risk. plus the power from the battery cuts off automatically after a crash.
Tests are inconclusive unless they test at highway/freeway speeds. Come on who drives 35 mph?
People slow down before a crash. Unless the driver does not see an incoming wall. Think about it.
This hurts

Not bad the result...but ugly car in my opinion
