The first theme park actually opened up in 1999 at Fuji Q highland in Japan with their version of Thomas land 3. The only reason The Green Bay Thomas (who we as a fandom have dubbed Bongo) was retired was due to the dummy units (the shell Thomases) being finished in October of 2001, just to keep a sense of consistency 4. A few of The All Aboard Live tour show props have been moved (James, Percy, Annie/Clarabel) to a recycling plant, and unfortunately Thomas himself was scrapped around 2017-ish 5. My brother was obsessed with Thomas as a kid! We met him once at one of the day out with Thomas events and he did not like it. I think it was scary seeing Thomas so big! We always watched the stop motion show and the live action movie, not big fans of the cgi show. Thanks for doing this video, Dan! Really love Thomas the Tank Engine even to this day and still holds a place in my childhood. Keep up the great work! ;)
Thomas was my ultimate legendary number 1 childhood icon! I was a fan as a toddler and kid and even Railway Books Series, Classic, HiT and CGI Eras I grew up watching on PBS Kids and Sporut also with some Tomy, Trackmaster, Wooden Railway, VHS and DVDs I still have.💙1️⃣🚂
Aw heck yeah this was awesome. Thomas & Friends was my freaking childhood and informed the soft spot I had for trains. Was also my first exposure to Ringo Starr and George Carlin.
This video is a HUGE nostalgia blast, I ADORED Thomas when I was little, one of my favorite shows alongside Bob The Builder [still angry at Mattel for that horrible CGI reboot], VeggieTales, and Scooby Doo! The circus themed Thomas show is very strange. Though I'm more neutral on clowns, as I actually like Ronald Mcdonald and Jack from Jack In The Box [though I prefer Jack's 1970s incarnation]. I've done a deep dive on Worthpoint and have discovered some pretty interesting Jack In The Box stuff from the 1970s, such as company folders [including a Time Magazine parody], a company poster from 1978 [that has some pretty neat information], and a ton of the Sooper Scooper company magazines, with interesting pictures of the walkarounds. Notably ones where Jack is with Mickey Mouse! Very impressive given that Jack In The Box even to this day is still a smaller chain then Mcdonald's. Another interesting Disney/Jack In The Box tie is that Paul Winchell, original voice of Tigger, did the voices of Jack and The Jack In The Box Bunch in 1970s commercials [only three of which are on RUclips] and 1970s comics [also on RUclips]. It's most noticeable with Jack and Onion Ring Thing.
My favorite Thomas of all time was the day out with Thomas when I was a kid and i only remember the original series with the model faces not cgi or animated
Thank you for covering this nostalgic icon. Honestly, I remember watching videos of the live stage tour the small and the big ones. And of course, I went to edvill railroad and I saw Thomas there.
I loved classic model-series Thomas, though CGI Thomas was my favorite. The new All Engines Go Thomas is pretty much universally panned by the fandom. Previously Thomas was for all ages, not just for babies. Now, it's purely for babies.
I love Thomas and the Railway Series, It's very near and Dear to my Heart, I often either watch the Model Series or watch Fan Series like NWR Tales by NWR1991 or Stories of Sodor by Victor Tanzig
Speaking of coin operated rides, there was a section at my Walmart which was claw machines, happened to find barney in a car. Sadly it was removed now tho
When I was younger, I remember that there was one in Georgia that I got to go to with my younger cousin Jack. My mom and aunt took us both there for the day. It was nice, I think my mom and aunt took some pictures of us there but I don't think they have them anymore.
Personally, I kinda like both the CGI and AEG franchise. The CGI because of the shots and effects that they wouldn’t be able to do in the model series, and the AEG series because it’s kind of like a next generation.
I saw the evolution of Thomas The Tank Engine in REAL LIFE, I clicked on it and realized it was Disney Dan, then I realized it was uploaded today. I’m happy :)
I had always thought the Six Flags America train looked like Thomas. Never knew it was actually supposed to be him. When I was in high school, some friends and I rode that train and we played the Thomas song on the train. The song ended right when the train stopped. It was great!
As a Pennsylvanian native. Me and my family got to go to Strasburg in Lancaster, Pa. One year. Went to that same train museum and saw Thomas (Or one of his friends.) Didn't ride on that train, But a different one. That was a few years ago. This year, We're going to Strasburg again and the train museum. So we may see Thomas and Friends again. :) How fun!
Hey Disney Dan, I’m not only a huge Disney fan but I’m am also very knowledgeable on the history of trains and railroads, and to help you out on what Thomas is based on, here’s a brief history of Thomas Real Life Bases. Thomas is based on a LB&SCR (which you already know the words in short), AKA The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E2 Class 0-6-0 Tank Engine. Only 10 of these locomotives were built between 1913 and 1916 during World War 1 and replaced the much older LB&SCR E1 0-6-0 Tank Engines. They were mainly used for switching (In British Railway Terms, Shunting), but they were also experimented by pulling passenger and freight trains. Unfortunately due to their insufficient Coal Capacity it failed, hence why they were mainly used for shunting. They continued service for the LB&SCR, then later the Southern Railway, and finally British Railway’s, until all of them were withdrawn from service between 1961 and 1963, and were replaced by the British Rail Class 07 Diesel Switcher locomotives in 1962. Sadly non of them are preserved and were all scrapped by 1963. But at least we have many replicas of Thomas from steam powered to dummy engines as part of many day out with Thomas events from around the world and that keeps the legacy of Thomas alive. I hope this helps you out and thanks for checking out my comment!!! - Carolina Railfan Productions
We also have a Thomas Land here in the UK, it's in a theme park called Drayton Manor. Thomas Land opened in 2008, with the same/similar rides to the ones you have mentioned. It's the only Thomas Land in Europe. For the train ride itself, you can ride behind Thomas, Percy or Rosie. It is worth looking into.
13:08 these Harold the helicopters were at Six Flags New England theme park a.k.a. the one I went to. These are super unique because these are not the standard look for the Harold ride these are like the earlier versions of the Harold ride.

I Love Thomas the Tank Engine, and this video is no exception. Kinda feel like the Oigawa Railway Thomas deserved its own section. Such a different take on Day Out With Thomas, but it has captured the imagination in Japan so effectively that Oigawa Railway Thomas is basically considered its own branch of the fandom.
Great movie covering tons of meet able Thomas. The kiddy ride Thomas at Strasberg was like the greatest thing I saw as a kid and I even went back and did it last year. I didn’t want to bother or get bothered so I went there after everything had closed. Imagine a 23 year old guy riding Thomas in the dark alone. Anyway, thanks for another good movie! I would have been glad if you could have covered the Thomas Land which opened in 1998 and is still in operation in Japan. They had really cool Thomas ride with Diesel 10. You actually got to ride behind Lady at some point.
Yeah, the former Thomas Land at Six Flags America (visited for first time last Friday) is abandoned and walled off. The normal train also has a whole abandoned train set just out of view of the midways, and an unused picnic grove station

I grew up about 10 minutes from the Strasburg Railroad! I never went to a Day Out with Thomas. We had a Thomas show when I worked at Dutch Wonderland from 2009-2011.
Thanks for doing this video, Dan! Really love Thomas the Tank Engine even to this day and still holds a place in my childhood. Keep up the great work! ;)
I went back in 2002 or 2003 in PA when my younger brother was a big Thomas fan. Surprised it’s still going!
The fandom from us such as me as a huge Thomas Fan, this is an Amazing video dan! 💙
The fans will love this video 👏
Thomas was my ultimate legendary number 1 childhood icon! I was a fan as a toddler and kid and even Railway Books Series, Classic, HiT and CGI Eras I grew up watching on PBS Kids and Sporut also with some Tomy, Trackmaster, Wooden Railway, VHS and DVDs I still have.💙1️⃣🚂
Aw heck yeah this was awesome. Thomas & Friends was my freaking childhood and informed the soft spot I had for trains. Was also my first exposure to Ringo Starr and George Carlin.
A little sad that Kennywood's little Thomastown wasn't brought up...
YES! DISNEY DAN DID A THOMAS VIDEO! IM SO HAPPY!
Thank you for doing a video on Day out with Thomas, Dan! This event was a part of my childhood since I was 3.
Yoooo let’s gooo!
18:34-18:40 I’m sorry, but all I can hear right now is “WAHA! WAHA! WAHA!”
Hell yeah my favorite number 1 blue tank engine getting a Disney Dan video great job man
Dan: all engines go is cool
The fandom: BRING OUT THE TANKS!!!
Dan better ready himself to be lampooned by hate comments about AEG
YES! I've been waiting for this one since the vlog
I saw your viral video on IG reels and TikTok months ago and I’m so excited to finally see it in full now!
I’m a big huge fan of Thomas & Friends and I loved Thomas & Friends so much! I Loved Thomas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved classic model-series Thomas, though CGI Thomas was my favorite.
The new All Engines Go Thomas is pretty much universally panned by the fandom. Previously Thomas was for all ages, not just for babies. Now, it's purely for babies.
Who Likes Thomas And Friends?
👇
@@Super_Jaylen_Bros_305 me he was part of my childhood and I still like the show to this day
I love Thomas and the Railway Series, It's very near and Dear to my Heart, I often either watch the Model Series or watch Fan Series like NWR Tales by NWR1991 or Stories of Sodor by Victor Tanzig
@@harveymaltezmansilla8098 same and also Thomas has a huge fan base
Thomas never gets old!
@@tre-engines exactly
Thomas the Tank Engine, the perfect icon of my childhood!
Did you know that Garner Holt also created the Studio C Chuck E. Cheese animatronic?
LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my parents took my brother and i to see thomas in 2006 i think… i was OBSESSED with him
I had always thought the Six Flags America train looked like Thomas. Never knew it was actually supposed to be him. When I was in high school, some friends and I rode that train and we played the Thomas song on the train. The song ended right when the train stopped. It was great!
I would love for you to talk about PBS Kids backyard and PBS Kids neighborhood related stuff.
:) How fun!
I Have Been The Biggest Thomas Fan Since I Was 2, So This Video Really Brings A Smile To My Face!
I love this but I’m kinda interested in the Thomas Live show and Thomas Town but mostly Thomas Town because I really want to go there
Hey Disney Dan,
I’m not only a huge Disney fan but I’m am also very knowledgeable on the history of trains and railroads, and to help you out on what Thomas is based on, here’s a brief history of Thomas Real Life Bases.

So glad to finally see you make this video
was not expecting this ❤
I love these videos ❤
We also have a Thomas Land here in the UK, it's in a theme park called Drayton Manor. Thomas Land opened in 2008, with the same/similar rides to the ones you have mentioned. It's the only Thomas Land in Europe. For the train ride itself, you can ride behind Thomas, Percy or Rosie. It is worth looking into.
4:56 - I know it sounds ridiculous, but I actually have a phobia of Coin Rides. Every time I actually see one in real life, I freak out. 😂
Me too (lol) I'm pretty sure I saw a TERRIFYING Mickey one at a Walmart; that was in turn the scariest Walmart I have ever visited.
13:08 these Harold the helicopters were at Six Flags New England theme park a.k.a. the one I went to. These are super unique because these are not the standard look for the Harold ride these are like the earlier versions of the Harold ride.
This video made me smile a lot now. I love Thomas the Tank Engine! I can even provide a few more obscure meet and greets of thomas you may not have known if you want!
Shining time station was how I got interested in Thomas Ringo star was the best conductor
YO HE DID IT!
Yeah!
It’s so crazy that I was such a huge Thomas fan as a kid with all the toys, DVDs etc. but I had no idea that the shining Time station even existed outside of the magic railroad😅
Dan I didn’t know you love Thomas the Tank Engine too, this is literally my huge gig and special icon from my childhood! I’m so glad you got to do an evolution of our beloved E2 Class Locomotive, 🎵THOMAS WE LOVE YOU, THOMAS WE LOVE YOU, THOMAAAS WE LOVE YOU🎵!🚂❤😉
The footage at 8:35 is from Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. I grew up going to the Village, but have never gone to A Day Out With Thomas. I want to take my son one day, though. He's obsessed with Thomas, and trains in general.
You forgot Drayton manor and the japanese Thomas Lands, which are much better than the US one
My brother visited that Thomas in PA when he was younger, he even got some coal to take home. Absolutely loved it
I LOVE and LOVED Thomas growing up. i had The train table and almost ALL the trains except for a few.. i think it was duke and this specific blue one like navy blue i Always wanted. I EVEN rode on that thomas that dan got to do, years ago. i Even have a picture of him framed somewhere. Great to see more of his rich history
I Love Thomas the Tank Engine, and this video is no exception. For a Thomas or Train Fan, @DisneyDan, you have certainly nailed this one for sure, a top-notch slam dunk of all Train related stuff with all things Thomas and Trains, I never actually thought you would even think of doing this, of course you did Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Shrek, Woody and Buzz, Sonic and Mario and so on and so fourth, but now here we are, Thomas the Tank Engine, the No.1 Blue Train from my childhood, and you've pulled out all the stops full of comedy!😂🤣 You definitely went all out on this, Great Job!🎉🎉🎉
Kinda feel like the Oigawa Railway Thomas deserved its own section. Such a different take on Day Out With Thomas, but it has captured the imagination in Japan so effectively that Oigawa Railway Thomas is basically considered its own branch of the fandom.
I wanted this videos to exist for the longest time and it released today
Great movie covering tons of meet able Thomas. The kiddy ride Thomas at Strasberg was like the greatest thing I saw as a kid and I even went back and did it last year. I didn’t want to bother or get bothered so I went there after everything had closed. Imagine a 23 year old guy riding Thomas in the dark alone.
Anyway, thanks for another good movie! I would have been glad if you could have covered the Thomas Land which opened in 1998 and is still in operation in Japan. They had really cool Thomas ride with Diesel 10. You actually got to ride behind Lady at some point.
I remember going to the Thomas and Friends live tour as a little kid! It was insane to experience 🚂
Yeah, the former Thomas Land at Six Flags America (visited for first time last Friday) is abandoned and walled off. The normal train also has a whole abandoned train set just out of view of the midways, and an unused picnic grove station
