I graduated high school in Ohio maybe 30 mins from Manson's hometown, and I would catch some of his Hit Songs on the radio over the next 30 yrs, but it wasn't until about 2 yrs ago at age 51 when I really "discovered" Manson. I saw a video on youtube of "This Is The New Shit", and that was the beginning of constant video searching and watching everything I could find of Manson. I LOVE everything about him now, I watch his videos all the time, I love his music, some of my favorite are Manson songs, but I've never seen him in concert, altho I think back in the late 90's would've been a great show. I never knew what I had been missing out on all these years. Thanks to "This Is The New Shit" video/song for opening my eyes and ears to an ARTIST LIKE NO OTHER!!
In high school (15+ years ago) a friend said that if you didn't know this song you weren't really my friend. Still true to this day. Thanks for the upload.
I saw him preform this with the stilts and helmet lasers at Ozzfest. Slipknot had created a mud war between the people on the lawn and the people in the pavilion with their finally. The show had to stop for 45 minutes as dirt and grass filled the sky. When people fled, we went into the pavilion. The mud war ended when Manson decided "fuck this. I'm going on " We got to see Manson and Sabbath front row. Ozzy pointed right at us and screamed "Get the fuck up and rock!" Long time ago. Now I feel old.
He pushed gender race sexuality and violence all powered by fear and was the pioneer to which he fought and was Hollywood crucified and today tolerance and acceptance are won by his scars from the battles that we had from the war of acceptance;tolerance he preached became the mainstream idea which we are now rewarded.
The album is a masterpiece and he sings it well life. Really the only thing I love by MM, Mechanical Animals is on a whole other level, even today, As rock it is perfect, musically it is groundbreaking, its a one of a kind album, it is dark, deep, meaningful, dystopian, cultural, and totally MM, Such vision.
