I've seen this video so many times. It's one of my favorite things he's ever done. My favorite thing he's ever done was cure me of my christianity at a very young age. I loved his music from the very first time i heard it, long hard road out of hell and quickly realized the messaging was against religion but i vibed too hard with it. Over time it made me open to question the things I was taught and realize just how awful my southern christian community actually is and even helped me overcome the shame they tried to instill in me and come to terms with my sexuality. I owe this man big. We're all lucky he's still doing this.
as a christian this doesn't offend me at all, because its all so true, and not just exclusively Christianity but modern society in general, and I look up to him for that MANSON FOREVER ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
My dad took me to see copper and mansons show, he played this song during a tornado warning, everyone stayed out in the crowd. Fucking love you Manson!!!!!
This version was never released on dvd...only VHS. You probably had the Guns God and Government DVD, which has this song, but from the Holywood tour...
This is such a trip to watch.....so many memories. CRAZY to think it was 25 years ago....a quarter of a century. I still remember the first time I ever saw Manson on video....it was THIS clip. And it was in a "documentary" called "They Sold Their Souls For Rock & Roll" shown at my Christian youth group. It was MEANT to scare the shit out of us. It worked...kinda. I found it scary, but also alluring, creative, powerful, exciting, mysterious, cool, and liberating. Basically the opposite of what my life was as a scrawny little kid being told by bigoted adults that I was saved from a cosmic tyrant from eternal torture...and that this was "the good news." THIS clip...was good news. It was exciting news. I didn't become a non-theist for probably 5 more years...but the seed had been planted that the world was bigger and more diverse and juicy than I had been exposed to. Seeing this now...brings up some of those old feelings. The danger of being exciting by the forbidden.... If anyone is curious...I highly recommend looking up that documentary. It's....hilarious. And SO 90s. And it takes itself so so seriously. The basic thesis is that Manson above all, but also the Spice Girls(seriously) and every other mid/late 90s artist was an agent of Lucifer. In a way...they were kind of right. But it was Lucifer the light bearer...the liberator...the Promethean demigod fighting on behalf of humanity against the cosmic dictator Yahweh.

31/5/1997 Barcelona. I was 17 years old and I was there, practically in the front row. It was my first time, this concert left me in shock. The power he had can't be explained with words. Standing on that podium he said: the people out there have no idea of the power that's inside here, let them hear us !!! It was such a brutal punch to the industry. 2024 and I still have the ticket.
My mom went with me to see manson, and she loves rammstein. With 65 she still wanna rock as hell. Of course when we went to see Manson she used the same make up hehe. This is just incredible. I remember when I was 13 in 98 and I was waiting to watch this video every morning before going to school. It still gives me the goosebumps. Possibly the most theatrical performance ever in rock music.
Lyrics: You built me up with your wishing hell I didn't have to sell you You threw your money in the pissing well You do just what they tell you Repent, that's what I'm talking about I shed the skin to feed the fake Repent, that's what I'm talking about Whose mistake am i anyway? Cut the head off Grows back hard I am the hydra Now you'll see your star Prick your finger it is done The moon has now eclipsed the sun The angel has spread its wings The time has come for bitter things The time has come it is quite clear Our antichrist Is almost here... It is done
I saw him in Houston in 99’ on this tour. A friend took me and I must say, it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to a ton of concerts. The theatricality was off the charts and the music was good too considering I literally knew one song.
He genuinely scared people. Funny. He's just a very smart ,funny and artistic guy who scared the shit out of some people who couldn't get beyond the stage schtick.
Yeah, I remember when I had just started high school, MM came out with Sweet Dreams, from then on for the rest if my high school years, everyone acted like he was Satan himself. I got in trouble for having one of his shirts. I had to rebuy his memoir, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, at least three times because my folks kept throwing the book away.
Very smart and creative!! I remember going to this show in Utica NY. The local church tried to get Utica to bam show. I remember talking to a group of people waiting to get in the show. They were against the show from coming. But they said they had to see with their own eyes. Manson had people that hated him buy a ticket. Pure genius
Saw Manson twice in San Francisco at the Warfield, still the goat in terms of live performance. It's as close to a live horror movie as you're going to get, mesmerizing
This has to be one of his best performances. I recently paid attention to the 3-cycle format of Antichrist Superstar. Knowing that this track starts the final cycle (Disintegrator Rising), and the worm ascended to Antichrist Superstar, makes this whole performance so much more POWERFUL.
Sure. Manson's seminal album "Antichrist Superstar" was created as a triptych (art broken down into 3 parts). The album had 3 cycles: 1) The Heirophant 2) Inauguration of the Worm 3) Disintegrator Rising Cycle1 foretold the coming of the antichrist. Cycle 2 spoke of the unassuming "worm" Cycle 3 cements the evolution of the worm into the full fledged antichrist, hence the opening track of this cycle. And this performance is the inauguration of the antichrist.
Yeah I totally agree. Sure. There are plenty of people who can dress and try to act like him. But the vocal can never be duplicated. His voice is truly authentic and no one will ever match it. For someone to change that many octaves at once is a beast.
Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of Anti-Christ Superstar. Manson will be releasing his new album on Valentine's Day 2017, which in Manson's words, will be an album with a "chip on its shoulder." This sounds like it will be the closest album to Anti-Christ in the past two decades.

sophiamustdiee I saw them back in '97, twice, during the Antichrist Superstar era, it was crazy
Yeah, but his energetic days like this is gone. Plus his vocals have kind of gone to shit :/
twins of evil tour baby
Rasdaan His vocals are still just as good, and he still has an amazing stage presence.
Too bad I was born in '98 so I couldn't see these concerts live, still cool to watch these videos though.
I was there two different times in that time and yes it looked just like this. Will always be glad I got to see him like this. Twice in this tour ,
Goopy200 too bad saw em 6 times!!

Goopy200 the most of H is songs are op der than me same with H is fanbase i am 12 oml😂
Same haha I suffer so hard not being able to have seen those times.
Had the PRIVILEGE of seeing him perform this live on the separate occasions...It was awesome.

2 times in San Francisco at the Warfield
As far as art goes, he is a genius. His voice sounds cool for that genre to. There is a lot of emotion coming through

Lol you are awesome
I was there during this video!!!!! Feb.11, 1997 Dead to the world Tour. Toledo Sports Arena / Toledo, Ohio
Nice how was the energy
He doesn't worship satan he is atheist and that clearly isn't satanism. He is only expressing himself the only way he truly thinks he can
***** you explained that perfectly.
***** To my understanding, it was a one time thing, and he didn't even really have a say in the matter. The guy just said, "hey! You're a priest now!"
***** Actually what you've described is LaVeyan satanism but you do get theistic satanism which does worship Satan and believe in him as an entity.
Such a powerful performance, it makes me hair stand on end.
MARILYN MANSON FOR PRESIDENT
yes please
Yes yes yes
Please dear god
foxx gaming he would make a great politician
foxx gaming this would be good music to kill trump supporters to.
as a christian this doesn't offend me at all, because its all so true, and not just exclusively Christianity but modern society in general, and I look up to him for that MANSON FOREVER ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
This man influenced me, so much, as a young man. Taught me to think more outside the box. To not be afraid to express yourself and BE yourself.
do you believe In God?

My dad took me to see copper and mansons show, he played this song during a tornado warning, everyone stayed out in the crowd. Fucking love you Manson!!!!!
I seriously wonder if people get this guy. A mockery of worshipping "figureheads". Bloody brilliant.
2024!?? Anyone? ❤❤❤
Here 😂🎉
Here I am
😊
everyone
Yea
When I was a teenager I had this on DVD. my mom destroyed it cuz I had it on a loop and it scared my sister lol.
Basically the opposite of what my life was as a scrawny little kid being told by bigoted adults that I was saved from a cosmic tyrant from eternal torture...and that this was "the good news."
THIS clip...was good news.
You did everything right dude 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Are we all gonna ignore how awesome twiggy looks with that helmet
Twiggy is always sexii ♡
Twiggy is our messiah
I knowwww. I literally saw him and went, "oh my god twiggyyyyy!". I am so in love with him 🥺😂
GravityLee no. Twiggy did some pretty not cool stuff. Manson cut ties with twiggy and now he doesn’t play with the band anymore
@@Grave_behindmyeyes those allegations were fake
I've seen upwards of 300 concerts and this was one of the best by far , International Ballroom Atlanta Georgia
We were at the first line fighting to stay right there. It Was amazing. We saw ozzy, black label society, and some others. Long live to all the rocking parents out there.
This song tickles my brain in a way that no other song does.
you just made marilyn manson weird
Manson for President 2020!
Good idea manson for president 2020.

This is just incredible. I remember when I was 13 in 98 and I was waiting to watch this video every morning before going to school. It still gives me the goosebumps. Possibly the most theatrical performance ever in rock music.
Lyrics:
You built me up with your wishing hell
I didn't have to sell you
You threw your money in the pissing well
You do just what they tell you
Repent, that's what I'm talking about
I shed the skin to feed the fake
Repent, that's what I'm talking about
Whose mistake am i anyway?
Cut the head off
Grows back hard
I am the hydra
Now you'll see your star
Prick your finger it is done
The moon has now eclipsed the sun
The angel has spread its wings
The time has come for bitter things
The time has come it is quite clear
Our antichrist
Is almost here...
It is done
Marilyn Manson for president of the United States.
But president dead is clueless.
and he's caught in a headlight, police-stated god
and his skull is stained glass.
Id vote for him.
Al menos el seria mejor que la mierda de Donald Trump
it would be nice to finally have an atheist as president lol
Saw him in 96...still the best concert I've ever been to.
Hes very intelligent
Pure genius
How you can tell that you are a skilled artist - your art terrifies/motivates people.
People have always feared things that are different or that they don't understand.
My parents were horrified back then when i started listening to this, i still enjoy it a lot :D
+RubberDuck My parents would burn me at the fucking stake.
RubberDuck watch on RUclips the 14 rites of satan Marilyn Manson
RubberDuck spooked Christians?
My mum liked his voice, lol.
My dad would cut my head off
What a powerful performance and show! Wish i could go back in time and see this live!
I never had the pleasure to see him live - will he ever get the chance again. Brilliant musician!
Saw Manson twice in San Francisco at the Warfield, still the goat in terms of live performance. It's as close to a live horror movie as you're going to get, mesmerizing
Fantastic live performance, definitely *superior* to studio version.
Thank you Marilyn Manson for giving me the best childhood in the 90's
Observed this tour in Philly... Unbelievable!!! Philadelphia USA 🇺🇲
I don't know what happened to him...
What a great album, would've loved to see this tour.
Can you explain?
Sure. Manson's seminal album "Antichrist Superstar" was created as a triptych (art broken down into 3 parts).
The album had 3 cycles: 1) The Heirophant 2) Inauguration of the Worm 3) Disintegrator Rising
Cycle1 foretold the coming of the antichrist.
Cycle 2 spoke of the unassuming "worm"
Cycle 3 cements the evolution of the worm into the full fledged antichrist, hence the opening track of this cycle.
And this performance is the inauguration of the antichrist.
@@Glitch4Twitch Thank you so much! It's my favourite album together with Holy Wood.
No problem man. @@android22arc

There will never be another musical artist like Marilyn he is the BEST to ever do it.
yes.

Yeah I totally agree. Sure. There are plenty of people who can dress and try to act like him. But the vocal can never be duplicated. His voice is truly authentic and no one will ever match it. For someone to change that many octaves at once is a beast.
DNA, wasser stoff peroxid, well yeah bak in the polical correct days
He had Trent to help but yah I agree
Holy shit... What happened to him???? I wish he could be like this again... I fucking love you Brian!!!
The pale emperor happened... haha

That man is an absolute SHOWMAN. that's what we have lost these days... the whole Showman aspect...
I am Christian but this song is epic.
+George Manson I don't get it ... was it Jesus Christ that forbid listening to heavy music or your local priest ?!?
+Marco Geração Nope I am talking about Christians who beleives that a good christian shouldnt listen to this. But I cant understand the reason...My parents are christians too and love his music like me..Where is the problem??
+Marco Geração And this is industrial metal not heavy.
+George Manson they're stupid, leave them.
+George Manson There's no problem at all. I know many christians that listen to this kind of music and they are not better or worst than any other christian. What boggles me is the statement "I am Christian BUT" ...
