I’ve been in Nicaragua, Columbia, Mexico, El Salvador, my husband is Colombian and I have a friends who are Puerto Rican Reggaeton from their perspective came from panama. “El General “ was considered the grand father of reggae dancehall Hall (Reggaeton ) he was from Panama. This is what I keep hearing every time I go to a Latin community area. I don’t like Reggaeton either but if I listen to a track from Panama from the 80s and compare it to the 90s, the beat sounds exactly the same
I call bs... No Puerto Rican is going to claim Reggaeton is from Panama. Therefore you don't hear any Reggaeton songs coming from There. El General just sang Jamaican dancehall songs in Spanish. The beat is not exactly the same. Reggaeton is an evolved fusion genre birth in PR by merging the dembow dancehall riddim, Perreo( Puerto Rican underground music), NY Hip-hop, and other Latin Caribbean genres. None of those genres native to Panama. Puerto Ricans made it global now everyone wants to take credit and grab a piece of the pie. You know damn well it's two different sounds. If not, then I suggest you get your hearing evaluated 😂😂😂
