I think one of the reasons fanfiction has gotten more popular is also from a lack of content. Most shows only produce 6-10 episodes every 2 years. Fans need more content in that time between seasons.

I have been reading fan fiction sense I was 14-15 years old. And I have even tried writing a few fics on occasion. I’ve always loved reading and could spend hours or even whole days just reading. When I first came across fanfiction I was in the middle of a personal crisis. I stumbled upon this wacky almost cartoonish comedy fic (commonly referred to as a crack fic) that instantly bosted my mood. Through fan fiction I have made good long lasting friendships from across the nation and even overseas. It has also helped me process a lot of thoughts and emotions on some experiences I have lived through. That said fanfic can be risky if you aren’t careful. Even if you are careful some people don’t tag mature topics and you can accidentally stumble onto something you didn’t sign up for. I clicked on this video mostly out of curiosity and I’m very glad I did. Both so I can see what other believers thoughts are on fanfiction and to share my thoughts and experiences on this subject.

fanfiction might be gaining ground with this generation, but even Gen X was writing and enjoying fanfiction.

The pioneer of fanfic were the ladies who back in the days were fan of star trek and had to print their stories
      It's been around for lllllooong😊
