Thanks for this information. I’m a naturally gifted archer myself. I have a built in ability to miss shot after shot and all I have to do is take great care in my shot sequence and a consistent straight back release and use high quality equipment and I can Miss like no one else on the range! Enjoy 😂❤!
Solid info, i shot olympic when i was a kid, shot 55 strings because the bows were older than me by alot 🤣 recently got back to archery and went with modernized horsebows and got several poundages, they prefer FF, violent little bows, noisy AF, but speeds rival some compounds, love it
@@ShatterproofArchery initialy i considered changing the material to something less hard, but i got recomendations not to do it, as the softer strings would probably significantly decrease speed and introduce more wobble to the limbs which could damage them (they're already very short bows with very low brace height and long draw length), just got delivered another set of new FF strings last week, that are a bit longer than standard to be able to give them more inside-the-loop twists (as these bows shouldn't have twist in the string like other bows apparently, limbs are pretty slim, might twist them), maybe it's just a placebo, but i feel like the behavior got a bit better, sound changed, though volume stayed the same, the 95# still startles ppl first time i shoot it next to them 😁 just for that effect i think i won't put beaver on it
The other reason Dacron B--55 is used is for some of the modern bows, there are some made that do not have the tip overlays mainly traditonal English longbow/shortbow or Asian/Middle Eastern style bows that do not have this but some makers of flat limb longbows do not have the tip overlays, to help especially if said very traditional flat limb bow is using the flat handle grip. Lastly, almost all the all fiberglass bows/fiberglass only limbs you should not use more then Dacron B--55 but there are some exceptions.
I don't put a zero stretch material on my recurve bow, even on high-end limbs. Whether recurve or long bow need has some little less stretch material as D97 or Fastflight, which has no vectran added, dacron is stretching too much, but your limbs will be prevented from breaking or delaminating.
Great explanation, I want to make my own strings and this info was awesome. As this vid is 2 years old now are your recommendations the same considering new products come out all the time?
Hey Kramer, I've learned a lot from your vids and they're a great resource. When you say Fast-Flight do you mean typically Spectra 652X? If so I thought that would've been a bit stretcher than D97.
thanks for this resumé i own a Falco Lengend longbow (68" @33#) that allows only Dacron string and it"s a problem to find appropriated arrows the arrow builders charts don't necessary say that the difference with FF is from 5 to 7# : i bought Easton Legacy 700 spine arrows with 100 gr tips and at 18 meters it's not fast at all ( i can't imagine outside at 30 or 40 meters). it's a nice maple bow but i'm shared to buy 800 spine arrows (a little bit faster ?) or to sell it in march for the 3D saison and satisfy myself with my classic Kinetic 68" recurve (28#, foam limbs, FF string) your advice ?
FF (652 Spectra) is the oldest less stretch material still being offered. Developed years before D97. It falls between B55 and D97 (Dyneema/Spectra). Really need to do better research before presenting yourself as an "authority"

Haha! Keep having fun!
Quality 😂 honest but also true with "so called experts"
Excellent! Short, sweet and to the point!
Just received my first string from these guys, and I am very impressed. Highly recommended.
You guys should make another string video 😉
Thanks so much for the explanation. Looking forward to more videos.
Nice explanation. Have only used b55 so far but was thinking about ordering some d97. And you guys string building wax is AWESOME!

If you don't mind me suggesting, a D97 with Beaver on a horse bow can bring down the sound and make it smoother when compared to the fast flight.

Cool! I inherited a Browning Nomad I , and it needs a string.

Great question! Yes same recommendations except I would suggest checkout out our invincible loops that we more recently developed:)
Perfect.. lol. Is your "FF" BCY 652 or Brownell FF+? I ask because I think 652(Orignial SK65 FF) is quieter than D97(SK75) and about the same speed.
652:)
Are the term Dacron and B-55 used synonymously?
This was very helpful! Ordered a string from you right away

You are 100% correct. These videos are full of misinformation, This is but 1 of them.
D 97 is pretty sweet I think I need another 1, or 2, or more...
Don’t forget brace height and heavy arrows help with noisy bows!
And nock fit, a tight nock will add a lot of noise as the arrow plucks itself free.
I make my own strings out of b55. Would 97 work as well for home made bows? Keep in mind that they are glass backed with powerglass.
Wooden limbs (hickory) with glass backing and flipped tips. 65" overall, 53# at 28".
They would work well as long as they have tip overlays
I have 2 Vintage bows, a Browning Wasp and a Shakespeare Wonderbow X27 The Kaibab. Both are 56" amo. I should be using a B50,B55 ?
I'm also getting a new string for a browning wasp. Did you ever figure out what one is best for it?
@@Doxatek i tried 2 so far..not sure which was best

Its the same for crossbows?
I just ordered a deerace 97 16 strand Flemish twist fast flight string for my 50# PSE shaman. I'm new to archery. Is that compatible?
Yes should work great!
Is OKWU Oklahoma Wesleyan?
I prefer to make my bowstrings from flax fibers.
I shoot cheap B50 strings on a modern bow please roast me.
Nothing wrong with that if you want a quiet shot with no handshock, you just won't get the highest speeds your bow could offer.
If it makes you feel better, I use a Shatterproof string on my bow.......which cost me $80. The string is half the price of my bow.

Is this really true?

I have been trying to buy a string from you but you don’t seem interested . You did answer once but than never answered again. Thanks anyway
