Yeah, Metal Hellsinger is definitely inspired by Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal especially. If you liked MHS you really owe it to yourself to check out at least Doom Eternal. Tip: Crank the difficulty until you just barely *can't* handle it any more, the kick from finally beating a tough arena is absolutely glorious.

Doom was one of the OG shooters, that and wolfenstein were the first ever first person shooters to come out back in the day. So pretty much every game is like them rather than the other way around.

Doom is awesome. Doom 2016 was the first PC game I played and it is what sold me on PC. Easy game, fast paced game to pick up as far as FPS games are concerned. Doom Eternal is also great. I have only played about an hour of the 2nd one to just try it out, but It is one I will be playing this winter when work slows down.

Doom has been around way longer but I did find out one of the developers is a devout Mormon who ultimately said that the newer doom games are the darker deadlier versions of good killing the evil in the universe so to say

In fact, you could say Doom is one of the fathers of FPS, along with the original Escape from Castle Wolfenstein. For a good 20-odd years, most FPS games were called "Doom clones".
