Closest answer I can find is August/September '42. Rubber was in short supply and they quickly switched to leather to save rubber. But now I know, leather is right for my MB! Thanks!
Thank you very much for your advice, you are helping me a lot in the restoration of my Jeep and a greeting from Barcelona, Catalonia😀👍
Re your question Scott: The change from rubber to leather was at MB175601, September 1942. Not sure for GPW (maybe around GPW 67000?) but September 1942 looks likely as they changed from rubber to wood with canvas infills on the windshield bumper blocks.
You are right on using the tap. I have been doing that on all reassembly of my m38. Makes all the difference in the world. My guess is January 21. That my birthday.
Great Scott, Nice !
When was the transition from rubber boots to leather boots?
Not sure but would like to know
Awesome video Scott, may I ask where did you buy the leather boots? My rubber one ( transfer case shifters) fell apart. And is it appropriate for 6/1944 MB? Thank you.
