    If you want a quiet garage door system, install a belt drive and replace the metal rollers with nylon rollers. At minimum, check your metal rollers for excessive play. Extended use will wear out these rollers causing noise. Fairly easy to replace.

    My 30 year old, very heavy insulated 16' garage door finally got a new lease on life with a set of these spring loaded hinges, new rollers, new torsion springs (only because one of the original ones broke) and new seals at the sides and top. There is no reason to spend thousands on a new garage door when the panels and track are in good condition. Now, I can stand in the dark garage on a sunny day and see no light leaking in anywhere. Before the spring loaded hinges were installed, all the panels would move in at the mid and lower hinges, away from the seals, as soon as the door shut. At LOT of light came in. I had put new seals and rollers on, but still light came in by the hinges. So I put on a set of Green hinges. The new hinges didn't immediately stop all the light leaks on the day that I put them on, but after a few weeks I noticed that the light leaks were gone. Possibly it took the springs a while to push the panels back against the new seals. The door now seals as good as a garage door can be sealed, and with the belt driven opener I use it is very quiet. The Green hinges have been in use now about 4 years and they still work perfectly.

    They help moderately. I’ve installed them. I’ve also installed your sleeves, the ones that didn’t arrive split. I think it is better to use shrink tubing and double sided table on the roller stems.

    Just a heads up, some newer garage door openers have a backup battery installed, unplugging the opener doesn't always disable it.

    I ordered universal #1 hinges from amazon to do this job but only 2 of the 4 holes lined up when I went to replace my amarr hinges. After troubleshooting a bit I went to Lowe's to try another set and found that it worked perfectly. I compared it with the one from amazon and found that one was about 1/8 in shorter. Do yourself a favor and pickup the ones from Lowe's or Home Depot.

    A can of garage door lubricant can cure the squeaks, if that's your only issue, for a lot less. Detached garage, heat loss not so big a deal.

    I'm glad you finally tried the Green Hinge system and made a video about them.. but weirdly enough, you make no mention of the Roller Sleeves (that you sell on your website) anywhere in this video... so the question is: Did you use your Roller Sleeves with the Green Hinge system? If not, why not?

    Simply adjust the runner/frame closer to the door. Lube the parts, and align the tracks, with Vice-Grips, to make it quieter. NO MONEY NECESSARY!

    With the Green Hinge constantly pushing harder on the door frame, will it also create more rubbing and material wear on the roller/door/frame, and shorten the lives of roller/door/frame?

    I'm trying to replace all my amarr hinges, but when I do the end cap hinge, the door is so close to the track that it can't come out on the #1 and #2 positions.
    Like at 4:57 where you're able to pull it out, I can't do it because it's too close to the track 😥

      Great question, this will allow alignment with the green hinge system. Without it, the green hinges will not work. 👍🏽😊 take note this ONLY applies for Amarr garage doors with the pinch proof hinges. Most garage doors doesn’t need this replacement and just use the Green Hinge system direct install.

      I don't understand this. It looks like you removed and re-installed the very same piece (only it was new). A hinge is a hinge. I don't get why the green system wouldn't work.@@FixThisHouse

    • @Legionaire42
      @Legionaire42 11 месяцев назад +8

      @@craigwhite5703re-watch the video at the 3:55 mark. The old hinges are nothing like the new hinges. The hinge is inside of the door itself. The no pinch system hides the hinges and doing so shifts the flex point of the panels. The original hinges flex .5-1 inch inside the door and the green hinges flex .5-1 inch towards the interior of the garage. the 1-2 inch difference bends the panels in a shallow bow. if you have the new green hinges at only the ends they will flex the door panels and bind in the tracks.
