I'm glad you mentioned how many metal plates it takes (supply depots take 10 each, mineral extractors 5). A good idea would be to jump to several stations and buy all of their metal plates - fill your suit and ship cargo slots. Even a small extraction operation could take 250-300 metal plates.
yeah i advice you use cargo on ship and ur acc . also try have ur freighter in system put a lot inside it as backup . i did that actually . it really takes a lot of metal plating

With the unfortunate way that Hello Games has handled salvaged frigate modules in the latest update, it has become very difficult to upgrade the freighter hyperdrive. On my latest save right now, my freighter can't jump to the system my activated indium base is in - I would think this is a problem for a lot of people right now if they are playing on a new save for the latest expedition like I am... Yes, a hauler would definitely help - of course, buying an S class might bankrupt you...lol
max out a positron in one of your ships, put 1 ferrite dust in each of the ship's cargo slot so you only collect ferrite dust, go fly just above planet surface for 5 minutes shooting at the ground with your positron, park up yours ship near to where you are building. Now you can craft metal plates without running out of materials (ship cargo teleporter helps a lot here)
That is so very wrong sorry. 5k per hour is very very poor because you build wrong. With 4 extractors you get an average of 2k per hour so with 40 you should get 20k per hour on an S class mine. On a A class it is more like 1600 per hour or 16k with 40 extractors. Seperate your storage and your extractors there should never be more than 4 exctractors to a package of storage. If you put more extractors to your storage the exctractors will loos output. For example on an S class mine at 99% you get 520 or so output per hour for each extractor but if you put a 5th exctractor the output goes doen to 350 add another and it drops more and more for each extractor you add. Important is that the extractors have room to each other and also the storage. So try this: Stack 4 exctractors on top of each other and then connect those 4 to about 20 storage containers. Then make another stack of 4 exctractors but leave some room to the forst stack but not too far as you want to stay as close as possible to the center of your hotspot. The connect thos 4 again to a new package of 20 storages. Also keep some room between each package of storages as building to close will also reduce the output. You will get 2k per hour for each stack you build. I usually have 9 stacks of 4 extractors relatively close to the center of the hotspot and for each stack I have 20 Storages. Sure when I come to farm I have to empty all 9 storage packs but the output on an S class mine is 18k per hour and there is no limit on the size of my storage if you want to. My output of 1 s class mine atm is 36000 per hour or 360 000 per 8 hours. It takes a bit of messing around but once you get how it works you can make billions in one day. I have 3 mines running and I make 1.5 billion a day. I am not sure If what I wrote makes sense but if you have question or something is not clear ask I will try to explain if something is unclear. Just the way as it is done in this video is a waste of resouces for a very low output.

Because of the nerf I made a mine with silver instead of activated indium. Since silver is worth more now. Its a small operation so im getting around 8 mil every 8 hours. I have 3 groups of 4 extractors and 1 group of 5 extractors. I have 1 group of 9 , 1 group of 8, and 2 groups of 4 of supply depots. So its around 29k storage, and when its full I get around 8 mil depending on where I sell, I happy with it though.

I will note for PC users, there is a SUPER helpful mod called "snappy industry" that makes it so industrial components like extractors and silos can be snapped to one another. It's by far the best thing I've ever done for my game industry-wise.
I use the same concept and strategy for mining gold and silver. got around 30m perday, not to rich but its a small business i only have 40+hr playtime.
Great video. I found a system that buys at 2.6+ I made 700 mil on last nights turn in from a 0.6+ system. Looking forward to tonight's hand in. I make bases in about 15 minutes. Once I find a deposit. I drop a 3x3 pattern of miners. 20 solar panels and 10 batteries. Then enough supply depots for 24 hours of storage. 3x3 no glitch building gets 3000 act indium per hour. Can get 4000 an hour if the miners are separated into 3 groups of 3. But I am lazy and not min max. So 3000 is fine as I have like 7 or 8 mines. Way too many miners since the diminishing returns from thr mining nerf. Can get the same 4000 from just 9 miners. 3000 if all 9 miners are connected.

So idk when the mining nerf happened. But more is not always better anymore because of it. My first mining base i placed like 25 miners and I am getting 4000. I can get more with just 9 miners if they are not all connected to the same outputs. Just three individual groups of three. Or be lazy and connect them for 3000 from either an A or S location.
I had a comment, which I had to delete, because I had to double check a method and it works. So I have 1000-1100u distance between my electromagnetic field and mineral extractors. The trick is is that the extractors are at the edge of the 300 unit range base computer. From here I just started to put down biofuel reactors at the edge on the other side and after a couple reactors I've reached my generators. Cable also isnt that tricky, same as in this video. Put it on the ground when it is too long and continue from there. I hope this helps to anyone, who has about 400-1000u distance between the two hotspots.

You really shouldn't sell it in a station terminal at all because you will crash the system's economy. I'd recommend finding a better demand for activated indium and then selling it to a pilot. The pilot will match the demand of the system without crashing the economy, meaning the demand will continue to be good no matter how much you sell.

hauler cargo can take 980 metal plating alone . that would be nice if u have hauler s one max slots cargo . it would help u so much

When that happens to me. I use a 3x3 miners pattern and I drop 20 solar panels and between 10 to 15 batteries. Handles them just fine
