The skiff does move if you know how to do it. While on the skiff, open your quick menu. In the Quick menu select the skiff and then place the green skiff hologram where you want to move. Then summon it to that area. The skiff will move to that position while you are riding it. It starts slow and builds up to a slow speed. Kinda like having a trolling motor on a fishing boat. Shallow water can affect the movement if there are rocks under the surface.
I will admit I'm fairly new to the game but, while playing the expedition, there were two things in the narrative that specifically addressed some of the issues here. First, the game specifically said that the real money was in using the nutrient processor with the fish. This seems like a way to lengthen the whole fishing loop. Second, the no hook fishing actually has a term associated with it. They call it "dredging". Hopefully this is somewhat helpful.
As a newer player those cooked items might be great and helpful, for others who have been playing for awhile, the nutrient processor is basically a forgotten thing, fun to mess with from time to time, but never really worth much in units, nanites or beneficial stats. As far as dredging or snagging, it should work both ways, more non fish on no baited hook, and less on a baited 1. I do a lot of fishing, and catching a limb, or a bottle happens both with or without. IDK, its a game, but this could have been something cooler, sadly like a lot of the stuff they have added.
One thing to note is there are not special types of cooked food for gold and purple tier fish, so you are going to devalue your catch if you cook top tier fish. I had a 100k fish turn into a 30k meal.
@@J3ST3RIRL Yeah, I've passed the point of fishing being useful and I've only used to nutrient processor in expeditions. I have played in three expeditions to give you an idea how far along I am. So far as the flotsam, boots, and bottles ... that's pretty much how it works in any fishing game I've ever played - be it a mini-game or job inside a game (like FFXIV), or a dedicated game - lures will have a greater chance of catching you actual fish, whereas a hook with no bait will catch you pretty much anything. The idea is that you're just snagging whatever your hook grabs onto. But, it's a game so it still goes through the 'catch' mechanic so you get to land a bottle instead of a fish. lol I dunno, it's a super basic mini-game that has a ton of stuff put into it. I've been having a lot of fun cooking everything up to see what it turns into. There are some of the cooked up ones that you can use as bait that outclass any of the basic baits. Just a minor correction here. The Skiff does in fact move. Once the Skiff is in the water and you are onboard, you must call the skiff to a new location just as you did when you first called it out. What happened to your controller? The drift is terrible, I’ve only seen drift like that on the switch
It isnt the controller, doesn't do it anywhere but the NMS menus, not in main game, nor any other game. Could be some steam setting, IDK, it is def annoying tho.
I had a easier time getting message in a bottle and some of the non fish items without using bait
I used delicate legs and get rarity 26%, size 27%
Naw. The way I see it, it's another thing to do to help break up the monotonous cycle. Like making Byte Beats, or building race tracks.
It also seems to amplify the calm vibes already present in the game. I'm having trouble staying awake while fishing!
Why do you need a good lure to hook old boots
You don't.
@@Lordoftheapes79 that was my point
the bigger point is, if a hook is involved, it shouldn't matter, why can you not catch a boot with a lure? how come you catch fish and other stuff with just a hook? if its about snagging, then it should drop regardless of lure or not. 1 of the points of the video is to figure out drop rates on s class fish, but also wanted to find out how the other stuff worked. seems really dumb to me to say a baited hook cant snag whatever.
@@J3ST3RIRL because it's a videogame.
@@Lordoftheapes79 Lol, because its lazy programming, half cooked idea really. Adds very little to the experience
I don’t like base building or playing the pirate role. Fishing is not my favorite but I like it ok. My guess is the process will be improved based on feedback. I enjoyed the expedition as something different. But my time is not too “precious” to waste playing video games.
The salty comments are barely adequate for this game update. Its fishing...in a game...in space...
I think if done differently, it might have been fun, but as it is, meh
Nope.......
Boring
