    Changed both front regulators for e46 using that same $28 each regulator and both have worked great for at least 3 years now. Good job.

    Not that this will help you now, but my e90 regulator failed spectacularly (wires all over the place) I put needle nose pliers on the plastic gear in the regulator, with the motor removed, and was able to roll it down that way. Just what worked for me. Great work as always!

    After a 1000 regulators and motors.. 2in painters tape to hold the window while you work thought there was a space or holes in the lower window to get tools in and unbolt the reg... Fold the tops of the reg together.. pull out.. haha.. only domestic stuff tho. the older ones have the motors riveted in.. if you drill out the rivets the thing would spring-around and almost decapitate one or two of your fingers.. nice. Good ole days. Nice Vid tho!!

    I hate replacing window regulators and it doesn't matter what make of car it is. I recently did a Toyota Avalon and a Lincoln and both were extra difficult and annoying.

    Nathan, awesome content as always, you're been a real help when it comes to my e60 m5 repairs. Can you tell me what kit (ie icon/schwaben ect) you're using for diagnostics/coding/adaptations?

    Great Job Nathan. A bit tedious watching but you came through. When you stated someone's already been in there, I thought this might not turn out too well but it did in the end.

    Mine just goes down on own with key on and wont go up. Any suggestions. Thats without touching buttons. Tryed two differnt motors 2004 530i e60

    Well that takes me back to when i had to replace a regulator in an NA MX5 , it was a complete pain in the ass as i went the cheap option and bought a new cable instead of the complete regulator and the cable had to be so taught it took me about 3 hours to figure out how to hook it on lol

    I had to change my driver door as well on my e60 and it looked just like that, the cable finally snapped and it was all mangled in the gear just like yours.
    I also ran into a problem where rolling the window up or down the motor will keep running until I stop pushing/pulling the button. The auto roll up or down doesn't work either. I looked online but couldn't find anything to fix it.

    you know you can hook battery directly to the motor harness. this we you can move the winows up and down, without hooking up the airbag.

    Cost me ~$950 to have this window replaced at the dealer on my E92 when it was broken. Clean up and seat removal probably added about $180 to the bill.

    Nothing like pulling stuff apart and fixing something. But these G-damn Germans and the over engineering. . From fuel systems to ride control , they never stop to amaze me on how over complicate a car .

    How'd you figure out the regular went bad instead of the switch assembly? Did you hear the motor for the window letting you know that the switch was working?
    Or did you use some fancy-smancy technology stuff?

      Back story...
      My E60 530i's driver window wont work. I hear nothing, but the switch assembly works for the other windows. So from my basic experience from a totally different car in the past, just change the switch assembly and good to go.
      I hope it's just a bad switch.

    To prove engineering superiority, the interior window weatherstripping of the M5 slides onto 6 individual clips which in turn clip to the sheet metal. Sure the sheet metal could have been pressed into surface for mounting but then you would loose the precision of all those clips.... das good.... smh.

    Yeah I don’t think all ever buy a old bmw 😂 to meany things to go wrong with them I’m from the Uk and I have a Vauxhall Combo van 2012 no aircon or electric windows it has 143 thousand miles but hopefully do a electric window upgrade soon

      I have a '99 Combo and I'm glad it has manual windows. I've replaced most of the vehicle by now but it's easier to work on than the E39 I'll give it that.

      Mine is a petrol 1.4 in good condition at 200,000 km but rather anemic. The problem is rust in the rear doors and the roof fairing/hood.
