Thank you, Kirk, for the updated info. I have recently test driven 2025 Lexus NX 350H, 2024 Lexus RX 350, and 2024 RAV4 Prime. This what I found out: the RAV4 Prime beats both NX350H and RX350! NX350H is rather tight and uncomfortable, and the cabin is noisy; while the RX350 is quiet and comfortable but acceleration is sluggish. In contrast, the RAV4 Prime is as quiet and comfortable as RX350 but has much faster acceleration, and it is $10K cheaper than RX350 (Premium Plus). Better yet, the local Toyota dealers were eager to sell their RAV4 Prime without any mark up or offered to allocate a car with the color I preferred. One dealer even offered a small discount over MSRP! What a difference of situation compared to one or two years ago when dealers had $10k mark up! Without the $7500 tax credit, the RAV4 Prime is too expensive and no longer a hot sale car. Another thing I don't like for the current RAV4 Prime is its aged infortaiment system (the display is small - 8.0 inch for SE and 10.5 inch for XSE). Therefore, I have decided to wait for another year for the redesigned RAV4 Prime. I really hope that the new RAV4 Prime has better and large (12 or 14 inch) infortaiment system, TSS3.0 or above, longer EV range, and genuine leather seats. Most importantly, bring back the $7500 tax credit so that it is more affordable!
Kirk, Let's hope the next RAV4 really 'gives us more of what we want'. The wheelbase needs to be stretched to provide generous rear seat space to match the CR-V as well as other main competitors. An extra inch of headroom would be much appreciated. An upgraded tow rating of 3,500 lbs would seal the deal. 🤩

Base it in the grand highlander as a five passenger AWD hybrid with a 800/1000 pound bed weight limit or something similar and a 3500/5000 tow ability for folks who don’t tow or need a “truck truck”. I’d use it for family trips. Plenty of cargo room, 30-35 mpg, three zone climate, AWD Toyota grand highlander unibody truck. It would be perfect. Sadly Toyota never - ever - makes their vehicles to what customers want with the exception of their family vehicles. Their trucks, SUVs, sports vehicles always seem to let down Toyota enthusiasts except for maybe the Corolla GR.
Very informative, as always. Please let us know what you hear about the Lexus NX 350 hybrid. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a 2025 or wait to see if there are significant upgrades in 2026.
The hybrid and prime hybrids are way more quicker and snappier than the ice version only. If you drive one you will feel how superior they are in acceleration and every day driving than the ice only counterpart.
Upcoming RAV4 should go full hybrid/PHEV and very much going to be a evolution just like their did with the Camry. Anyway current RAV4 is a excellent suv and only the CX50/CX50 HYBRID is better 👑🤴
Like most Toyota vehicles, I'd like to see them make the interior nicer, and quieter. Also, eliminate that weird Toyota trait of limited opening degree of the rear doors.
I currently have a RAV4 hybrid(2021) luv the car waiting patiently for the redesign version. I think they should leave ICE in the dust and go all hybrid and plug-in. Add more electric miles on the plug-in and better mileage rating on the hybrid, that would be a recipe for continued success! However they need to make them more quickly, add some manufacturing space for their best selling vehicle!!
My wish for a Prime would be 65+ emiles (almost there), ventilated seats (already have), 8.5+” ground clearance (already have), full spare tire (almost), solar roof (keep the cabin cool with AC). And a MSRP of 45K! Though I would still buy if not. Would be perfect for getting around town/work and to those far out hiking trail heads.
@@kloun1980 no they should get the Venza before it’s gone and ICE and hybrid Highlander is also on its way out with only 2 years left before it transitions to an EV only vehicle
Buy a little bigger also means pay a little bigger my friend and not everybody is willing to pay way above $50k. It’s called consumers asking giving advice and recommendation. RAV4 is fine with me but some people would like a better cargo space without having to settle for third row seats.
It will sell great, but I am really waiting for the Corolla Cross base truck. I just saw the new Maverick update, and Toyota could be a great competitor for a small truck. Althougg I would not mind a RAV4 based truck.
The ultimate Prime for me would be 8.7inch+ ground clearance, 60+ emiles, ventilated seats, solar roof to power the AC (keep the cool when parked), full spare tire, physical buttons and knobs for controls, and the next version of Toyota Safe Sense, no piano black, and keep it under 50K!
Making the RAV4 all hybrid makes sense for Toyota. The reliability of that particular powertrain is a nice contrast with the Toyota turbo V6. I’d definitely be interested in the next gen if they keep the prices from going up too much.
I enjoyed all of your videos do you think toyota rav4 will continue 4 cylinders natural aspirated engine with more horse power and more torque with better sound installation.
Waiting a couple more years to get a used hybrid RAV4 for cheaper. They are best bang for the buck for a family with kids. Right now me and spouse both have sporty sedans and it’s getting tight with car seat, stroller, and backpack. With kid #2 hopefully soon, there’s just no way our small sedans will suffice.
Only think CRV has on it is really slightly better interior fit and finish (2026 model will remedy that hopefully ) and 90 degree rear doors . No clue why Toyota didn’t allow for 90 defeee doors to aid in babyseats. RAV4 is literally only car I want for a daily commuter, family moved, Home Depot hauler and camping vehicle
@@JoshScott-v7j o my goodness. That is either because your aunt uses eco mode a lot of time or there needs to be some lubricant within the engine. Either way I hate rattling so much. I hope she is safe though
Imagine in 5 years when all the cars are hybrids and they are all doing that annoying whirring noise in a grocery parking lot. Like a cicada except like 100 cars buzzing around and louder lol
Ill be surprised if there is more than two trim levels in non hybrid. Aus and Europe dont sell all gas ones, hybrid would be 100% in Canada if they could supply them.
I hated the RAV4s front end except for the adventure trim, but they unfortunately didn’t offer that as a hybrid in the States. Hopefully the next gen will be better. I’m really hoping it will be switched to the same platform as the 4Runner, TNGA-F.
I prefer an HEV with a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engine with the 5th generation hybrid system, including a more refined suspension system, a less whiny engine, an eight-speed transmission, a more refined leather "1794 type" interior seating, and a minimum 12.3-inch infotainment screen by JBL, Harmon Kardon, with a Mark Levinson option. I don't need a third row, so forget the Grand Highlander, it's not for me (No kids- retiree). Unfortunately, Lexus does not make a vehicle equipped like this, at least not yet. The NX300h needs major upgrades with the engine, drivetrain, interior, infotainment, etc.
Picked up a CRV touring. The RAV4 is a nice reliable offering like all of Toyota but boy does it need an update. Just feels crude in ride quality and technology. I wish I liked it more then the CRV after trying both it wasn’t even debatable.
You asked which type of gas/electric I’m most interested in, so as someone actively buying a plugin hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), I’ll explain my thinking. To get a PHEV based on even cheaper compact crossovers costs thousands & thousands more, boosting a Ford Escape or Hyundai Tucson over $40K, and the RAV4 Prime to ~$48K. So I figured, what the heck, you might as well spring for a true luxury vehicle ($49K-$55K) and get Mazda’s new CX-70/CX-90. If you loaded an Audi Q5 e or Volvo XC60 Recharge PHEV to similar equipment levels, they’d cost $61K+/$71K+ respectively! I special ordered a ‘25 Mazda from Japan; 3-4 more weeks.
It’s Toyota & with less people buying sedans like Corolla & Camry rv4 is a no brainer obvious choice for many. If they have more money they get Highlander
I bought a new 24 R4P, took delivery in mid-July. Would like to see more customization options in software, but overall very pleased with it!! Regularly see 48-50 miles EV range. Haven’t burned enough gas in it yet to see how that economy number will read.
I guess I can see a bz4x and a RAV4 bev if they market the RAV4 BEV strictly as a city car for people who have their own charging at home and love the RAV4. It would be cheap and have little range and slow charging for a price that is very competitive. Then the bz4x would evolve to be a serious EV which is made with giga-casting, etc., to be as light as possible, to charge in 12 minutes, to have long range, and really be a serious EV for someone not even considering an ICE or hybrid car and wants to make long trips with it.. This EV would be the EV "Toyota is proud of".
Thanks Kirk for your insights on the 2026 RAV4. I am very interested in the fully electric RAV4. You also mentioned that the batteries will be sourced from USA. If the rebate is still available do you think the new fully electric RAV4 will qualify for the $7,500 rebate as it will be built in USA?
The reason it’s doing so well this year is it’s one of the last couple suvs with a real engine. Smart buyers want nothing to do with this turbo/hybrid BS.
Toyota and Honda dealers can’t keep enough hybrids on their lots while dealers cannot seem to get full EV’s off of their lots even with a $20k discount. Hybrids are the way to go right now as they are highly fuel efficient and work with existing infrastructure. In the long run hybrids are showing to be more reliable then their gas only counterparts (Emissions control devices are hurting engine reliability).
There is nothing BS about Toyota's hybrid synergy drive. It increases the power output and torque, *and* increases the powertrain longevity, *and* improves the fuel economy. No other gasoline-burning powertrain can achieve all 3 at the same time.
@@DimitrijDaniel I wouldn’t completely dismiss Honda’s system either. I’ve personally experienced both and I ended up buying the 25 Civic Hybrid. Both Honda and Toyota systems are the best in the industry and it’s really going to boil down to brand loyalty or whether you want a car that’s a little more engaging. I drove the new Camry and I wasn’t really impressed.
@@michaelnash2972 The 2025 Civic hybrid has more or less the same powertrain as the CRV and Accord hybrids (140+ hp ICE only, 200 hp combined). That's a lot of hp for a compact sedan/hatchback! No wonder you are finding it engaging :). However, in this particular thread we are discussing the RAV4, whose equivalent is the CRV rather than Civic. I did own a previous generation CRV Hybrid, and I traded it for a 2021 Sienna as I was not satisfied with either power, or fuel efficiency. That said, I do prefer Honda's hybrid system to that of Kia/Hyundai, so we could say that Honda's and Toyota's hybrid systems are both the best :).
Long time CRV owner but am buying a Toyota next because Honda got rid of spare tires. Prefer the interior of CRV , but like the drive train of the Toyota hybrid.
As a lifelong Honda owner, now that I have a family and frequent home repairs, I need to move on from sedans and coupes. I love the CRV interior- great compromise between refined materials and well still utilitarian. I’m likely going to get a RAV4 because I want something looks a little more outdoorsy and CRV MPG on the hybrid is underwhelming. They don’t even have a plug-in electric hybrid going to get a RAV4 prime this year
Toyota needs to give more options of interior colours (and exterior colours) and two-tone options for other trim levels other than Trail/Adventure and SE/XSE for their mid to upper trim levels. Also higher trims should have memory exterior mirrors and tilt reversing mirrors. Also SE and XSE should be available for gas models
Whenever you think of a compact SUV, the RAV4 is just an iconic name that you think of. And for good reason. My family has leased three RAV4s over the span of 10 years (we had a 2013, a 2017 after the refresh, and then the 2021 with the current generation), and they’re perfect daily drivers. Plus the Toyota reliability is why we bought those cars in the first place too. I’m sure we’ll get this new RAV4 once the lease on this 2021 is over.
I'd like to see a BEV, but I'm really wondering when their plug in hybrids will have a range of 100+ miles like they announced earlier this year. Or if they go to a series hybrid/EREV route.
In the UK (and I think the rest of Europe too) the RAV4 is already only available in hybrid or plug-in hybrid. I can’t see them continuing the ICE version with the new model.
FWD and AWD Hybrid all trims from LE to XSE just like the 25 Camry. And an LE Prime so people can afford it as well as XLE and XSE. Also beef up the rear electric drive motor in all trims so it's actually useful when needed. All 4 wheels should be getting power when traction is needed to move the car. Not just one wheel spinning and the car just sitting there like a lame duck. That's just unacceptable in this day and age with modern electronics and traction control devices.
Make the engine more quiet and improve the door and hood quality. Even if that means just improving the sound insulation. Then find a way to improve build capacity.
Why do some Toyota models have a flat tire repair kit and no space saver tire. I won't buy a car that does not have the spare or space saver tire. I bought a 2023 Crown since it has the space saver spare, and my wife's Corolla cross hybrid did not have one so bought one and just put it in the back with a jack kit. They do this to save a few pounds but does it really make a difference. What happens if you get a flat at night when its raining? Or if the flat tire is not repairable. Your stuck!

@@trk8908 The current NX is only 3 years old. It won't be redesigned for a few years
We need more power in the RAV4. That thing is basically a snail on wheels
it used to have a v6 in the 3rd gen but i guess it didnt sell well so they dropped it
The hybrid and prime hybrids are way more quicker and snappier than the ice version only.
Also, eliminate that weird Toyota trait of limited opening degree of the rear doors.
just bought one last June. first hybrid vehicle. I love it so far, its performance is reasonable for a small SUV
The Rav4 is a great vehicle. I can see why that and the CRV sell like crazy. Its a CUV world and we're just living in it.
Thanks Kirk for the update, we are looking to purchasing a new vehicle have been waiting for the updated Rav 4 Prime.
People complaining about the size is funny. Get a highlander.. you want a little bigger.. buy a little bigger. Not that difficult. lol
Why is every main competitor larger if the RAV4 is actually the right size?
@@kloun1980 no they should get the Venza before it’s gone and ICE and hybrid Highlander is also on its way out with only 2 years left before it transitions to an EV only vehicle
@@rightlanehog3151 Because they don't have a Highlander competitor. lol. Remember, Toyota has way more SUV options than most other competitors.
To be fair... good luck finding a highlander hybrid.
Wait till 2027 and Nissan and Mistibishi are the next likely to join the compact pickup segment
I’d definitely be interested in the next gen if they keep the prices from going up too much.
maybe more electric range? 100miles on prime model hopefully 🤞
Keep the interior like the Camry and crown. Good size infotainment screen and keep physical buttons !!!!
I enjoyed all of your videos do you think toyota rav4 will continue 4 cylinders natural aspirated engine with more horse power and more torque with better sound installation.
I hope they keep the rugged look and a boxy design!!
Naveen’s favorite car.😁
I work at Toyota and i always thought that the RAV4 drove pretty poorly. It always had a jittery, crashy ride, especially in the rear.
Yeah the Rav4 is definitely not in my market of cars. I feel it's underpowered and practical for my taste lol.
Cramped interiors too. I prefer the roomy Camry
@@adamk9652does it make rattling noise?
@@blackgold754My aunt has a 2019 fwd xle and at high speeds, there is a rattling noise from the back.
@@JoshScott-v7j o my goodness. That is either because your aunt uses eco mode a lot of time or there needs to be some lubricant within the engine. Either way I hate rattling so much. I hope she is safe though
You had the Rav4 in Tears on Thumbnail.
Imagine in 5 years when all the cars are hybrids and they are all doing that annoying whirring noise in a grocery parking lot. Like a cicada except like 100 cars buzzing around and louder lol
Omg a total nightmare
Ill be surprised if there is more than two trim levels in non hybrid. Aus and Europe dont sell all gas ones, hybrid would be 100% in Canada if they could supply them.
Update will be minimal basically like what they did to the Camry.
My 2019 gas rav 4 already has 200k miles on it. I love that thing.
Picked up a CRV touring. The RAV4 is a nice reliable offering like all of Toyota but boy does it need an update. Just feels crude in ride quality and technology. I wish I liked it more then the CRV after trying both it wasn’t even debatable.
But good luck with the 1.5T Honda worse engine love blowing head gaskets
@@andersonrodriguez8258 it’s been fixed already
@@andersonrodriguez8258 gotta go hybrid powertrain.
But the Rav has more tech.CRV has heated seats lol
Agree. I have the Lexus NX350h and the ride is much more refined and precise
Early comment gang!! But yeah, it’s insane how popular the RAV4 is. When was the last time we saw a hit in the US like this?
The Camry in 2007? At least for non-pickups.
It’s Toyota & with less people buying sedans like Corolla & Camry rv4 is a no brainer obvious choice for many. If they have more money they get Highlander
The need a non-Sport/Touring trim for the Prime variant. Also, build the Prime in the US to take advantage of the tax credit.
RAV4 plug in hybrid is the best
Sticking with my 2018 RAV4 SE made In Japan. Easy to work on and simple. Reliable 2AR-FE just do frequent oil changes
I would like a new Rav 4 hybrid. I wouldn't mind a similar look, but I think Toyota could give us a more refine product.
I'm hoping for a much more quiet RAV4 that is a little larger!!
What they really need to update, it’s seats, so we can drive for little longer then half hour. I don’t need more power in cost of fuel economy
The new Camry was exactly what we were looking for.
I just want a RAV4 Hybrid, no plugin, just hybrid. Currently have a gas RAV4.
I only WISH THEY Came up with a TRD PRO RAV4 😭🙏🏻🙏🏻
😂 geez you wish. When there's a wait for almost every R4 made..
I can’t wait for the next gen CX-5.
and hopefully as a hybrid
RAV4 Prime Plugin Hybrid might be my next vehicle.
The standard RAV4 hybrid needs more power, at least 245 hp.
@@Dron2025 Hybrid will have 234 non hybrid won't exist
Looking for a small PHEV's crossover myself. Not enough to choose from yet. Hopefully in 2026, there will be a lot more PHEV options.
I would love to see a RAV4 Hybrid FWD & AWD Option 😮plus Black & Brown & Red interior Colors Optional ❤🖤🤎😊🇺🇲🇨🇦
hybrid is a must and plug in would be interesting as well if they were able to bring the price down any.
TNGA-K platform is ugly on TOYOTA but different form on LEXUS. LEXUS got nice design and quality
In the long run hybrids are showing to be more reliable then their gas only counterparts
(Emissions control devices are hurting engine reliability).
@@DimitrijDaniel Absolutely! I know someone who had a Tucson Hybrid and they were getting nowhere near EPA estimates. They now have a UX300h!
They don’t even have a plug-in electric hybrid going to get a RAV4 prime this year
I hope it goes boxy like the smaller Bronco just in case the Landcruiser FJ doesn't come to NA
When solid state batteries arrive, the plug in hybrid will be the most useful application. Double the current electric only range and I’m in.
It looks like a new 4runner
Toyota needs to give more options of interior colours (and exterior colours) and two-tone options for other trim levels other than Trail/Adventure and SE/XSE for their mid to upper trim levels. Also higher trims should have memory exterior mirrors and tilt reversing mirrors. Also SE and XSE should be available for gas models
The Prime numbers just tell me they're making more of them. They sell sooo quickly here in WA, I wish they had more availability
RAV4 hybrid! Still looking forward to seeing a refreshed hybrid Highlander that looks less rounded.
They need to bring back the Rav4 Coupe and Convertible lol
My mom has a 24 Rav 4 and man I was impressed I considered selling my truck for one she gets 40 plus mpg
i want a sedan with the rav4 prime's powerful electric motors. Put the big motor in the rear and the regular one up front so you don't break the ecvt.
Hello Kirk, I would like to hear more about Arene software. Thank you.
If Toyota messes up the New RAV4 Like they did the New Tundra and Tacoma they will need to fire the Toyota USA CEO and Board members
I just bought a 2024 XLE Premium AWD, so I don’t wanna hear about the 2026 yet😂
My RAV4 Prime gets over the air updates already. Maybe even more robust updates with later models?
FWD and AWD Hybrid all trims from LE to XSE just like the 25 Camry. And an LE Prime so people can afford it as well as XLE and XSE. Also beef up the rear electric drive motor in all trims so it's actually useful when needed. All 4 wheels should be getting power when traction is needed to move the car. Not just one wheel spinning and the car just sitting there like a lame duck. That's just unacceptable in this day and age with modern electronics and traction control devices.
The RAV4 Bev is essentially bz4x (although it's the electric platform)
Your stuck!
Only FWD trims come with spare tire. No room for AWD, due to drivetrain.
my husband uses his 2023 RAV4 hybrid xle he bought new in January for sales he drives 850 miles a week he now has 68k miles on it original tires just oil changes ever 5k miles and air filters every 15k miles his life time total average for the RAV4 is 47.1 mpg and he gets over 600 miles per tank like clock work usually like 630 before miles to 0 it still has like 7 score on brakes what Toyota said and the RAV4 hybrids been great very realible and good on gas 46 to 47 per tank hand calculated per tank we love Toyota hybrids and the new RAV4 will probably be even better on gas and even better then ares I would highly buy a RAV4 hybrid
I like the hybrid or plug-in hybrid, no range anxiety with them, unlike with EV's.
I think they might have started testing them cuz I think I saw one yesterday/today I cant remember but the grill looked weird i figured it was some sorta body kit or appearance but then well saw this video
Hello Kirk,
Any updates on the next gen Rav4? While I love my 2010 Prius Gen 3, I am really thinking of getting another vehicle and I want it to be a PHEV and a Toyota. So Rav4 or maybe someday either a 4-Runner or Tacoma. When you want something, time slows down.
