I have been running tests like this since covid first started. I have figured out how to avg close to 30 per hour with limited rejections while staying in my zone. It really works. Reach out and I'll explain so you can show it on here. You also need to add deprician on uour car to your calculation.
The car expenses should be based on the number for miles not the dollar amount. The IRS allows a 56c deduction per mile (for tax year 2021) including everything: gas, maintenance, insurance and purchase price ... I have an auto start tracker, so that I don't have to worry about forgetting to track. Then you figure out the tax after deducting the mileage, as this is a business expense.
I dash at 70% acceptance rate, make right around $20/hr every week. Right on the head. Usually 20 hours during Mon-Thur get me $18-19/hr and the weekend balances it out with its 20 hours
Here’s the algorithm. They will pay as low as they possibly can, on as many orders as they possibly can. Accepting an additional order means you’re delivering one for free (sometimes both). 23/hr is nothing when you factor in the cost of using your own car. Unless customers tip well, you’ll find what you’re actually getting paid for your time is under 8 bucks an hour. What may help is rejecting more orders, and sending a message to doordash, Uber, all these apps. Their job is to make as much profit as possible, which means paying out as little as possible. The apps don’t pay you, customers do. 12 hours burning gas at the current price, no thanks. Good on you tho, for looking out.
So basically you’re saying it’s necessary to keep your status above 70% otherwise you’re wasting your time driving with DoorDash. I’m curious to why it takes you five days at the end of every month to maintain your status. That’s telling me you’re putting an extra 100 miles a day taking all the crappy orders for these 5 days. Seems absurd. 🤔
Thank you so much for doing this! This is going to help a lot of people doing doordash! Also have you thought about doing a patreon for the Mental illness I think people would want to donate to a good cause.
I like what you are doing here...you are breaking it down in different ways. You will get an idea of what they are doing. It's really sad that they are forcing such far drives for less. I know for a fact it's saturated with drivers near me so there is no need for the far rides but they are mapping it out that way and that may never change. I like that you also have honest numbers and remind people that gas and taxes are in these numbers which really is lowering what most make. Thanks! Keep it up.
I’d say 80 percent or higher of the orders I accept. Is at least $7 or higher definitely averaging over $2 a mile. And I love it when I’ll get and add on order sometimes from the same store or like an extra $8 for like an extra 2 miles.
As somebody who was rewarded top dasher upon starting doordashing I can honestly say (in my area at least) being a top dasher is way worse!! I just lost it this last week and went back to the usual dasher and the difference is noticeable. As top dasher -small item orders for $5-$15 pay however mileage wise I was going half an hour or more away from the hotspot and out of zone. I was only getting about 2 orders an hour due to this. -I averaged around $10-$15 an hour. As a regular dasher - I’ve been received high pay orders $8-$15 for 2-8 mile drives. I’m going a much shorter distance and picking up way more deliveries than before. I’m averaging around $15-$20 as a regular dasher. In all honesty I’ll keep my acceptance rate low so I won’t be top dasher again. I’m making so much more in a short amount of time as a regular. I don’t feel like top dasher had any major perks besides getting to dash when you want and for however long you wanted.
I've often believed there is an "equity algorithm" that is running and keeps all the dashers in an area making about the same amount. I discovered it one day when I had a very good hour from 5am-6am, like $40 for that hour. Then, it got strangely quiet, too quiet. And I was in all the hot zones. So, I drove to McDonalds, parked, switched to the customer app, and ordered food to be delivered to my home. Sure enough, I didn't get the dash. They gave it to a dasher that was five minutes from the store. I stalked the dasher to my house and we chatted about it for a while, she saying her morning had been slow.... So, take that for what it is worth, but if you accept every offer, the equity algorithm probably tries to keep you making the same as everyone else.
This happened to me recently too, but it was half an hour from the end of my shift too, so after waiting 20 minutes with no offers, I just ended it early
@@MrMancreatedgod appreciate you taking the time to comment:) shows me how much you really care about me so I appreciate that! Let’s keep grinding out there!🙌🏻

I suggested to DD that three zones in Las Vegas need to be either extended, overlapped or combined due to so many orders in the Summerlin Zone go outside of the zone. We have to deadhead back due to geo-fencing, wasting time and effort. Of course I got no response.
I think a better test would be to do that 12 hours at the 70% acceptance rate. Decline orders, but only the awful ones, and keep acceptance at 70%. I'm really curious too! From what I can tell lately staying active matters. My guess at the moment is they may reward people at 70%.
Dude, I started in the middle of last August and I learned pretty quick to cherry pick the offers. As of today July 10th I have completed 4649 deliveries. 6.5 hours I made 127 bucks. That’s a average day in North Texas. 👍
I deliver for door dash & grub hub. Lately door dash sucks... & grub hub pays more BUT doesn’t show you mileage per Order. The Most I make in a day is 100-300$ max depending on the day of the week & tips.
Thank you so much for doing this; it was definitely really helpful! I think it would be interesting to see other dashers from different areas test this theory as well because this could support your theory or at least provide more insight. A factor to consider is the how geography can affect the types of orders you get (urban, suburbs, rural).
I did a 8 hour shift on a Tuesday and only made $150. I am in California btw. So minus $40 for gas in a 1.8 Liter Corolla it was $110. Thats less then minimum wage!? Always minus your gas! FUCK DOORDASH! I started a food catering service and now i make $200 to $300 a day in 4 hours
There certain areas in my state I can’t dash in because I don’t like winding roads. Can’t really take the freeway because I’m new driver. So yea I’m just taking certain orders in other areas
Honestly the average works between 18 to 22. I thought it would have been closer to thirty but it still beats not being your own boss but the gas kills you. I have to fill everyday so you only get about 100 but if you stay at it you clear about 120 a day and your your own boss.
GERMX or any hand sanitizer will remove the sticky stuff on your dash. let it sit on there for like 30 secs or so and it might take a couple of times but it works

Good informative video! I live in Hawaii and the zones are big for island standards, maybe I could try accepting all orders since the drives are shorter. With multi-apping on Uber Eats and Bite Squad I like limiting myself to a set town, so I’ll just stay with my set way.
How are you getting your gas expense? I understand the money per mile one but for the gas expense is that how much you paid to fill your tank for the day or is it another formula you used to get it?
I've been top dasher for about 4 months. I typically make 180 to 220 for a 12 hour shift. I really need the benefit of dashing anytime I want. Do you guys have problems being allowed to work with low acceptance rate? Do you schedule yourself or do you just sign in? I have to pause my dash frequently, so I'm worried I'll lose my ability to work if I'm more selective with what I take. I don't take everything. I'm more strategic with what I take early in the month, then take more bullshit orders at the end of the month.
I'm gonna be doing this tomm cause my area has a $400 challenge going atm so I'm just tryna meet the 20order requirement not worried too much about the order amount especially if I end up with an extra $400
Ok I’m new to Doordash but have done Postmates. With Postmates it really didn’t matter if you pick up a order in a hot zone and the delivery was outside the the zone maybe by 15-20 miles. It was very common to get the next order even before you reach your delivery location, which is usually within 5-7 mins from the previous location. Even if you don’t you don’t half to drive back to the hot spot you would still get orders wherever you end up. I’m confused on Doordash if this is possible or you are forced to dash in the area that you were assigned?
I have not started DoorDash yet I signed up for it and I’m going to start on Sunday possibly Monday I don’t know but I’m so grateful to you to you for your videos because I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing
Just jump into it. It's not rocket science, and with every delivery, you will get better and better at managing the DD system to the point that it will almost become second nature. I started in mid-March when I retired because I wanted to make some "play money." I am tech savvy, so learning to manage the app was a bit of a piece of cake and offered few frustrations (but from time to time the blood pressure rises slightly when the app crashes or times out). The most important thing to keep in mind while you are behind the wheel is to remember that the only person or thing you can control is yourself. Don't let rude merchants/customers, non-tippers and other drivers ruin your day.
Yep you said accept only the orders u want... Remember it's your time your car your gas... If i pick up a order and it takes me out 20mins out my zone I immediately end my dash after drop off and go back to my zone where I started which has worked freaking awesome for me
If you have a 90% accetance rate they will send you these crazy far orders way outside of your city. I've gotten 12.00 orders but they are going like 12 or so miles and I just don't know why. You can't drive in a different zone you would have to reschedule in that area
My acceptance rate is below 10%, DD keeps trying to get me to take $2.50 orders that are 6+ miles away, plus you have to wait for the restaurant to make the food. Definitely not worth it if the amount is lower than the mileage
What is the point of zones if customers can order from out of them?? Also i noticed the algorithms seem to pick up on who is willing to take the cheapo orders and then send more of them to you if you do.
Not a good thing for brown people like me we get darker and darker when we stay under the sun for too long..that's why in my country people use umbrellas rain or shine.
Great video, keep up the good work. Your going places, I watch your videos on my way to work, love the everyday video, I think I u need d to do every order a couple of times to get a good sample size.
Oops, you forgot about the hourly math for hourly W-2 workers. If a fast food worker is working for 13.25 per hour, after taxes, they will make a little under $11.25 take home. So, when you aren't cherry picking, you are making the same a fast food workers in many areas. (The only difference - You're not standing on your feet for 8-9 hours and you aren't going home smelling like fried food.) I am also curious if the payout algorithms would improve. The only drawback is playing mystery bingo regarding hidden tips.
When I started doing food delivery, I started out with Door Dash and it was a nightmare! The app was acting CRAZY! I had TWO voices giving me TWO different directions and giving me wrong calls! So that's when I Started using Uber Eats instead. I may go back to DD but I gotta see whether or the app acts up again or not.
Yeah I like the idea what you said about sometimes it could be a pain in the back side about doordash but mileage and I express mileage you're on the platform every mile you put on your vehicle is tax deductible
50% and 70% acceptance rate does change the orders offered. I ran a test over 30 days where I dropped below 50% one day then the next hovered just above 50. The restruant and store offerings were way better above 50%. I see larger orders with 2 to 3 dollar a mile pay. I also saw more high paying grocery orders. Next week I'm testing the above 70% acceptance. So I should hit top dasher for Sept. I also never take a no tip order. If we would all stop taking the no tip orders doordash would be forced to make a change. The least I will accept is 1 dollar per mile.
Is that $1.00 from where you are parked to restaurant then dropoff then back to parking lot? For example you get $6.00 for 6 miles, but it's 12 miles round trip
If I was to show you Just 10 of.my orders that I had today..2 things would happen.. #1 you would quit Dashing #2 you would be on the side of the road walking because you. Would be out of gas
Man! You're a Doordash scientist 😂 this is the 3rd video I have watched from you and I have to subscribe, what you're doing is priceless but maybe if I subscribe I can help you a little?😂👏👏👏 thanks.
So let me help you out with the strategy your doing big dog. Cause I've done this for a little while now. I have 4 years under my belt, 14,000 deliveries, and 40 drive orders (Catering), and I also have had top dasher for 14 months straight. Obviously, I'm not gonna know what it's gonna look like after they add this "giving top dashers bigger orders" thing. However I can let you know what it looks like now. Are you ready for this? It's the exact same thing. I get $3 orders ALL. DAY. LONG. just like everyone else. Since I do this full time, During the month my acceptance rating is between 20%-40%. And I don't let my completion rating fall below 90%. I try not to drop at all now, since they put this "gotta wait 5 minutes" BS in. But for the last week of the month, I do exactly what you did in this video. Accept all the BS until I get back up to 71% and 96%. I normally can do 20-25 trips a day. So 2-3 miserable days out of the month isn't so bad. You all have got to realize that it's not doordash sending you the bull shit orders lmao. It's the customers. The app just sends it to either the closest, or available, dasher. Even if it's five miles away from you. That usually means everyone in that area is picking up or dropping off already. Once we realize that it's not doordashs fault we'll be better off. Now, do I take $3-$5 orders during the months, absolutely not. I try to keep it $2/mile or $6 minimum under 4 miles. Because, in my head, if the customer gave a big enough of a F***, they would tip to get their food to them as quickly as possible. So $3 seems reasonable for anything less than 4 miles. So if you are wanting to see what top dasher looks like next month, if you already haven't hit it by today. Try this strategy. Trust me, obviously cause I've had this s*** for 14 months, it works. Make your money during the beginning of the month, and then be doordashes b**** for a few days. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or wants to rebuttal, don't hesitate to reply. I'm on this platform all day. Android user, so I split screen RUclips and the doordash apps 😁😜
Also, to explain the 71% and 96%. I've been the test dummy. Tried 70% and 95% to get top dasher before. It doesn't work. The words "or better" is what gets ya. So 1% over the minimum for top dasher.

Pay to.you wasting gas
Remember the irs lets you deduct approximately .56 cents per mile. That 220 is now less than a hundred. Not worth it.
both. Pay/Miles like how much you earn per one mile.
@@bronkdog he made 11.25 an hour
The car expenses should be based on the number for miles not the dollar amount. The IRS allows a 56c deduction per mile (for tax year 2021) including everything: gas, maintenance, insurance and purchase price ...
I have an auto start tracker, so that I don't have to worry about forgetting to track. Then you figure out the tax after deducting the mileage, as this is a business expense.
I dash at 70% acceptance rate, make right around $20/hr every week. Right on the head. Usually 20 hours during Mon-Thur get me $18-19/hr and the weekend balances it out with its 20 hours
Nice!
I liked and Subscribed for this great act of kindness for doing this video.
I'm pretty sure it's coincidence that it's the end of the month when you make these videos. Smart man.
Thanks👌🏻
So basically you’re saying it’s necessary to keep your status above 70% otherwise you’re wasting your time driving with DoorDash. I’m curious to why it takes you five days at the end of every month to maintain your status. That’s telling me you’re putting an extra 100 miles a day taking all the crappy orders for these 5 days. Seems absurd. 🤔
Thank you so much for doing this! This is going to help a lot of people doing doordash!
Also have you thought about doing a patreon for the Mental illness I think people would want to donate to a good cause.
Hmm not a bad idea! Might just do that!
Yeah that’s nice!
The most I've ever gotten done in an hour is three. Usually two.
The most deliveries?
DoorDash can be slow sometimes. With another service you get three to four deliveries per hour.
What you’re doing just proves that you have to work smart not harder or more. This applies to any gig app and work in general.
Exactly!
WORDS CAN'T EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE,I FEEL WHEN I THINK ABOUT WHAT'S YOU HAVE DONE
#COMPUTECHIES# I JUST SAY THANKS FOR THAT🙏🙏..
I Love the way you put this video together
As somebody who was rewarded top dasher upon starting doordashing I can honestly say (in my area at least) being a top dasher is way worse!! I just lost it this last week and went back to the usual dasher and the difference is noticeable.
As top dasher
-small item orders for $5-$15 pay however mileage wise I was going half an hour or more away from the hotspot and out of zone. I was only getting about 2 orders an hour due to this.
-I averaged around $10-$15 an hour.
As a regular dasher
- I’ve been received high pay orders $8-$15 for 2-8 mile drives.
Some people are saying that they did away with that. Also, that would make being top dasher absolutely worthless.
This happened to me recently too, but it was half an hour from the end of my shift too, so after waiting 20 minutes with no offers, I just ended it early
This is a very good series of videos. I like your channel because you get to the point. No BS.
Thanks!

Damn great video, a buddy of mine said I should try out DD but almost re thinking the decision. Glad to know a fellow SLCer making youtube vids ;)
Hahahah "Joke Dash". Thank you for actually doing this. Your awesome 😎
I suggested to DD that three zones in Las Vegas need to be either extended, overlapped or combined due to so many orders in the Summerlin Zone go outside of the zone. We have to deadhead back due to geo-fencing, wasting time and effort. Of course I got no response.
Yeah going outside the zone really screws with pay
I live in a denser area, so my long deliveries are 7+, some are longer but have to be almost all highway and end by places I can pick up.
I've never seen anything like that. 2hrs west of LA. Worst I've seen is like $10 for 15 miles.
I think a better test would be to do that 12 hours at the 70% acceptance rate. Decline orders, but only the awful ones, and keep acceptance at 70%. I'm really curious too! From what I can tell lately staying active matters. My guess at the moment is they may reward people at 70%.
Taking low pay orders will cost you a lot of money. 70% acceptance rate is dangerous for a business.
I tried this the other day for a 11 hour shift and made $242
I agree ☝️
Another banger, my dude. Thanks for doing this experiment. 👊
No problem! Thanks for the support🙏
Dude, I started in the middle of last August and I learned pretty quick to cherry pick the offers. As of today July 10th I have completed 4649 deliveries. 6.5 hours I made 127 bucks. That’s a average day in North Texas. 👍
Nice!
Well I was accepting a lot of orders to complete 15 delivery challenge from DoorDash and it was filled with lot of $2.50 orders
Yes very true! Stay tuned for mine and nuggs collab video we’re doing!
The mileage app is good for using
Are you make money with mileage app or not?
Please answer
GERMX or any hand sanitizer will remove the sticky stuff on your dash. let it sit on there for like 30 secs or so and it might take a couple of times but it works
I keep at a $1/ mile rate. So I get paid 3.49 for 3 miles I'll take it so be it but if I see 5.75 for 10.2 miles DECLINE 😆
~* Hi Blake! Love your vidz.. keep em up...I now have somewhere to vent my issues with door dash and also to see you go thru this is like.. Okay soooo Im not the only one Dash is trying to screw over every day hahaha.... but yeah.. what kills me is now the Petco (20lb bags of dogfood up 3 flights of stairs almost killed muh lil chicken arms hahaha..was soo heavy) also the Walmart (Im gonna order every suitcase of pop and largest waters I can buy and you guess it... top floor in apartment building)
Great work man. Appreciate the efforts.
Just for you being brave enough to try this challenge, I subbed to your channel.
Appreciate that🙌🏻
I did uber x for a lil over a year put on 75000 miles on my car now it needs a lotta work
The DoorDash code of ethics: "no tip, no trip"
Good informative video! I live in Hawaii and the zones are big for island standards, maybe I could try accepting all orders since the drives are shorter. With multi-apping on Uber Eats and Bite Squad I like limiting myself to a set town, so I’ll just stay with my set way.
I do Bite Squad in Florida sometimes. They keep me waiting at restaurants too long.
No. I can make the same in 12 hours, and my acceptance rate is in the 20s.
The early bird gets the worm, except for on Door Dash where the breakfast shift is terrible. Lol
Dasher: You actually expect people to accept these B.S orders? Do I look like a joke to you?
DoorDash: yes and F U C K YEAH!
You can't do grocery pick ups I had 150 lbs of groceries 6 cases of water up 2 flights of stairs for$8 crazy
You did it right people never take out there gas money and other cost. What's leftover after that's how I do.
I have not started DoorDash yet I signed up for it and I’m going to start on Sunday possibly Monday I don’t know but I’m so grateful to you to you for your videos because I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing
Haha well I’m glad I could help!
I'm gonna start too but I don't know when I'm kinda anxious or afraid that I have to drive for 20+ miles.
Don't let rude merchants/customers, non-tippers and other drivers ruin your day.
to save gas I would've just started a new dash in whichever zone you're taken to, there's a chance an order will take you back to your original zone
This was good video thank you oh and I loved your rant 😂😂😂
MONEY DOSENT COME FREE UNLESS YOU STEAL IT IT DOSENT COME EASY UNLESS YOU BEG FOR IT .I DONT STEAL I DONT BEG .THANKS DD YOUR AWESOME.
Yep you said accept only the orders u want... Remember it's your time your car your gas... If i pick up a order and it takes me out 20mins out my zone I immediately end my dash after drop off and go back to my zone where I started which has worked freaking awesome for me
How so ? Whats the difference
Great video and breakdown as always!
If you have a 90% accetance rate they will send you these crazy far orders way outside of your city. I've gotten 12.00 orders but they are going like 12 or so miles and I just don't know why. You can't drive in a different zone you would have to reschedule in that area
Yeah idk why it does that
So interesting man-- Great stuff! Looking forward to your other videos in this series
Thanks!
My acceptance rate is below 10%, DD keeps trying to get me to take $2.50 orders that are 6+ miles away, plus you have to wait for the restaurant to make the food. Definitely not worth it if the amount is lower than the mileage
That was a mind blow !!!!!! I saw you open your map and saw West Jordan which is exactly where I dash 😂 maybe I’ll see you on the road. Utah gang.
Ayyye let’s goooo
a very big thanks to *Kendricktech* on Instagram for a fast recovery of my Activision account I strongly recommend you sir
What is the point of zones if customers can order from out of them?? Also i noticed the algorithms seem to pick up on who is willing to take the cheapo orders and then send more of them to you if you do.
I totally agree, I’ve tried to order stuff outside my zone and it doesn’t let me so…🤨
If I did a 12-hour shift I would have made half what you did. Right now it's 110's degrees all week so I won't be testing that.
Haha yeah driving in the heat sucks!
Not a good thing for brown people like me we get darker and darker when we stay under the sun for too long..that's why in my country people use umbrellas rain or shine.
I got lucky last night I was marking 19-20 an hour and my first order of the night was a stack both times 10
Great video, keep up the good work. Your going places, I watch your videos on my way to work, love the everyday video, I think I u need d to do every order a couple of times to get a good sample size.
I appreciate that🙏
Oops, you forgot about the hourly math for hourly W-2 workers. If a fast food worker is working for 13.25 per hour, after taxes, they will make a little under $11.25 take home. So, when you aren't cherry picking, you are making the same a fast food workers in many areas. (The only difference - You're not standing on your feet for 8-9 hours and you aren't going home smelling like fried food.)
I am also curious if the payout algorithms would improve. The only drawback is playing mystery bingo regarding hidden tips.
The worst is when it takes you out of your zone
You make crazy money on youtube testing these theories out that the rest of us dont get.
The lower the time , the more time for more delivery, time is the most important after not going below the 7 dollar limit no matter what
When I started doing food delivery, I started out with Door Dash and it was a nightmare! The app was acting CRAZY! I had TWO voices giving me TWO different directions and giving me wrong calls! So that's when I Started using Uber Eats instead. I may go back to DD but I gotta see whether or the app acts up again or not.
Work days with Doordash is on paydays like wednesday through sundays. Back to back orders.
All the ones you saying are bad are good here in El Paso 🤣🤣 i get orders like 3.75 for 23 miles or 18 miles for $7
ya some of the distances are fukn ridiculous.....
and why does DOORDASH TAKE US THIS FAR AWAY .......yah that sticky stuff 🤔🤔
I accept all the orders from $3 to $11. This is reason why I didn’t quit my job.
Yeah I like the idea what you said about sometimes it could be a pain in the back side about doordash but mileage and I express mileage you're on the platform every mile you put on your vehicle is tax deductible
Do you just write down the mileage and when you file your 1099 it will be deducted then? How does that work?
Hey man I’d love to talk more with you on this! Would you be interested in discussing it on my podcast?
