My fiancé just told me she got me one of these for my birthday ( I mean like 5 minutes ago!!) so we were looking for review videos and came across yours.
I’m in Edmond Oklahoma and my wife got me one for Father’s Day and I’m doing ribs on it now. I absolutely love it thus far. Did steaks and burgers on it 🤤
Great video. The only thing I would say is cook to temp, not by time for what ever method you use. Ribs are done around the internal temperature mark of 203. I do 180 smoke until internal temp hits 165, then wrap. When they're wrapped I cook 225 until internal temperature hits 200. Then I rest them until internal temperature falls to 180. Lastly, I put them back on the grill with sauce on them until it gets sticky. They still fall off the bone and depending on the rack of ribs it's done in less time. Mine usually get done in 4 hours.
I wanting to tell you thanks, first time smoking ribs on newly Pitboss smoker. So I searched RUclips and found your video. I followed your instructions to a Tee. The ribs are great and the bones are literally falling off. Thanks again!!
I’m picking up one of these in a couple weeks when we close on our new home. Hoping I can make some ribs this good! I’ve never cooked ribs, kinda nervous!
I haven’t made ribs for a few years. I had decent success with a video like yours I used in the past and couldn’t find it. I happened upon yours. I write this with my belly full of what I think are the best ribs I’ve EVER had. I’ve been to some excellent, nationally known rib spots and I think these better than ANY of them. Thank you for this video and instructions. The only think I didn’t do was the mustard because I can’t stand mustard. I used vegetable oil before adding the rub. Absolutely incredible, moist, tender, outstanding ribs! I couldn’t keep them together when cutting them for family. The meat just wanted to fall off. PERFECTION! Thank you! I will never cook them any other way!
I have had my Pitboss pellet smoker for over a year to date. I have tried numerous recipes however, none tasted as good as when I tried your 2/3/1 method. Simply Irresistible!! Thank you and keep the videos coming! God Bless
Grew up going all over South Texas with my pops cooking in big BBQ cook offs. Did brisket and all. Man was best food of my life. Now I just took his recipe and did my own. Man o man
I prefer fall off the bone too! I can't wait to try this recipee! Tx! I just got mine delivered yesterday. I just bought the Pitt Boss as my own Father's Day gift! Lowes have them $100 off! I have been eyeing this midel for more than 6 months. I was hoping to find this on sale and jumped on it. I was there at 7am on the first day of the sale!
It doesn't matter if you use a light bulb and cardboard box lol Enjoy the Pit Boss. I've got 2 pellet smokers along with "too many" other outdoor cookers. They're all great. Good job sir.
The fact you like Head Country BBQ tells me you have great taste! Looking to get a Pit Boss, and thanks for this video. Can't wait to try some ribs like this.
i have found a few things about using a pellet barrel style, OPEN IT when you turn it on and until the fire cup ignites. Also, the drip pan/deflector tends to be hotter further to the center and left side. you said 2-3-1 method, I have always heard it as 3-2-1. I found 3 for smoke mode, then wrap in a butter bath for 1.5 - 2 hours, then let them set for about 15-20 mins, bump the temp up to about 225-250 then the final amount of time until the meat starts to pull back. Great video, my next one will be a vertical cabinet.
I have the same PitBoss and lov it... I will be doing the 231 today now... I lov "Fall off the bone". Thank you.... PS: Try Southwestern Meatloaf... Add Thick & Chunky Pace in the meat mix with your favorite dryrub.. My go to...
A 5 star video for ribs! I do like to add brown sugar, honey, butter and another dose of rub to the foil before I wrap...Thanks boss! Well done in more ways than one...LOL!
Just got my first pitboss 850 series early for fathers day here in Australia so after my first burn off ill be cooking these ribs so i look forward to doing the 2 3 1 method and learning more about grilling meat.
Oh man, I bet that would make a great homemade McRib sandwich. On a bun with onions and pickles slathered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce! Yumm! I'll be doing that soon.
I subscribe to all your channels and love watching them. New cooking ideas, and pigs now i know i can raise pigs in a relatively small area, now im just waiting for them to come. I commented on your other channel about the meat shortage and said i had not heard anything about that from my friend who has a beef farm. Well I finally did and now he is very concerned about it and needless killing of animals. Most people would buy directly from them if they could help process the animals or people learn how to process themselves. We all know that you can find anything on RUclips. There is a channel called the bearded butcher that we started using to learn how to butcher animals. Maybe this info may help some people.
Love both of your pages and watching for a couple years since you started out on the off grid. We always grew our own animals and then we killed them for food and I even did the chickens on my own as a kid.
Fall off the bone is the way to go. Ribs look great. In the middle of a cook on my camp chef right now. I spritz mine with ginger-ale. Caramelizes the ribs perfectly.
I go back and forth on the whole fall-off-the-bone thing; depends on whom I’m feeding. I like Dr. Pepper for the spritz. Any problems w/ your Camp Chef? My Woodwind jammed up on me a couple of months ago, but I had a back problem, so I’ve not fixed it yet. Grabbed a Pro Series Pit Boss last week. Still in the box. 🙄
@@bearvonsteuben9675 only problem I’ve had is a thermostat wire disintegrate after 3 years. The Wi-Fi isn’t the greatest but other than that I get a ton of use out of it.
@@sparks701 Good to know about the thermometer wire. Thanks. I liked the Woodwind a lot: consistently good results in all weather (I do use the insulated jacket). I never bothered with the bluetooth bit. For my first pellet, I thought I had picked a winner. I’m glad I hung onto my WSM and PBC.
Just got my first pellet grill today ended up getting a 1600 Elite .Did Jerky today I need to adjust the recipe to sweet for my taste. Tomorrow going to try ribs I've seen the 3 2 1 method but you do the 2 3 1 method I like my meat off the bone also so I think I'm going to try your way .
I just bought the Pit Boss Pro series PB1150PS2 and love it! The FREE firmware update is en route to me! 10-degree lower-temp increments, the 25-degrees up to 400 degrees! LOVIN' It!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dutch, I make my own spice rub, and it's pretty good. Equal parts of these ingredients: Garlic powder, Onion Powder, Salt, Black Pepper, Cumin, and Paprika. Then just a dash of ground Cheyenne pepper to taste. Put it on thin, or thick. According to what you like.
I can always count on you and your blogs and your girls the ribs look delicious I know after a hard Day's work I can come home and learn more about your family and your farm 😉😊😘 so keep them coming

My son loves barbecued ribs short ribs especially. He's always looking for different recipes to use every time we go shopping the different stores he's grabbing different kind of barbecue sauces we've made homemade barbecue sauce you name it he's done it thank you for putting your recipe up in your barbecue on how to do yours we do appreciate it and it will be done will be used I'm hoping that maybe next weekend the weather is getting nice it's June 3rd we're supposed to go camping here pretty soon so I know what we're going to be doing but thank you for posting it it's appreciated.

excellent video, An I'm so new to grilling with the pit boss. I have the 1100 pro series. It's the one with the combo gas grill connection. But this video helped me so much. My only question is. Is that pure apple juice you spraying on the ribs ?
i cooked mine about the same way just bought me a pitboss too from the last two cooks when did my ribs for 3hr run it at 180 seem like the pit boss like that temperature to put out the most smoke the pallets will burn slower smoke tube is good too add at higher temperature cooks just my opinion what i see is with my smoker we all have different ways how we cook or smoke grill is no right way is just how you like it
Hey, just got my PB Pro Series 1150 and been smoking up a storm. Took my first attempt to cook St. Louis style ribs and Pork Loin ribs. Used the 3-2-1 method but left the ribs sealed up in foil too long. That's how you live/cook and learn. I'll be trying this process again and like you said, if you looking - you ain't cooking. Also, didn't realize I needed a water pan/tray. Thanks for the video. Very informative.
I like ribs pull off the bone, fall off the bone, and many stages in between. As long as they're smokey!! Talked my wife into letting me get a Pit Boss, so hopefully I'll have an 1150 Pro in the yard soon!
If you hit the "Prime Button" and hold it for a few seconds it will kick in and helps hold your temps when you open the lid. That's one feature I like with my Pit Boss, and my Traeger didn't have that feature.
Wow Dutch that looks soooooooo good .I can smell it all the way over here in North Queensland Australia it really smells so yummy your family and friends are so lucky having you as the cook .I can taste every bit done to perfection
