The writers did such amazing with Dubois. She's a villain with no tragic backstory, she just wants a lion. That's pretty much it and the writers went out with their way to make her a Terminator killing machine and it's absolutely amazing 😂
I saw this movie quite a few times. Still, to this day the performance with Katy Perry's Firework playing is one of my favorite movie scenes ever. Gia quickly became my favorite of the new characters introduced and I thought that her little relationship with Alex was pretty cute. This movie also is my favorite of the three.

Great ending to the trilogy. The variety of locations and the choice of characters to stay with the circus especially touched me on inner emotions. A three-film journey home to eventually find your true home.
They wanted to make a fourth Madagascar movie but they cancelled it. Honestly good call, this is a perfect ending. Alex gets to be the center of the stage, Marty gets to go around the world like he always wanted and Gloria & Melman can still continue with their relationship. Basically an arc that is complete for the four leads
Captain Chantel DuBois is an abolutely hilarious villain, one of DreamWorks' best. And I love Vitaly's character development. I also think Marty and Stefano's friendship is kind of adorable.
Frances McDomand is an absolute legend in voicing Dubois. Not only that her voice fits perfectly for Dubois especially in getting the French accent, she also was the one who did the "Non je ne regrette rien" singing as Dubois! Yes, that was Frances singing. Props to DreamWorks for finding the right actress for the role
I felt like this was the best of all three, in terms of pacing, villain and plot. Like Night at the Museum there was a full circle element to it while also getting some entertaining side plots.
I'm laughing by the fact that one of the screenwriters, Noah Baumbach did a rewrite of the script just to pay his divorce lawyer. That was his main reason why he got involved. But dang, even when he just want his paycheck, dude actually put a lot of effort in helping make a good plot for this movie

My dad fixed a car for someone who worked at DreamWorks a long time ago and they invited us over to see the studio and I got to see the plane crash scene in Madagascar 2 over a year before the movie released. Little did nine year old me know that I’d still love the Madagascar movies 15 years later 😁
Fun Fact : Noah Baumbach (writer and director of Marriage Story, Frances Ha, Mistress America and recently this year's Barbie as a co-writer) did a 60 page script rewrite of Madagascar 3 and he did it mostly for his paycheck to pay his divorce lawyers 😂😂😂

Dubois scared me so much when I first watched it at age 12. That scene in the hospital gave me nightmares lol but now looking back, she’s absolutely hilarious and Frances McDormand was a perfect fit for her.
It only took 3 movies for this series to go from "domesticated animals realizing the wild is not for them" to "anthropomorphic animals need to reinvent the art of circus and perform Fast and Furious level stunts to escape a crazy French lady because they infiltrated a casino in Monte Carlo to tell 4 penguins they aren't shit for leaving them in Africa", who the fuck comes up with this shit?

I didn't think they swam all their way from Africa to Rome, I'm assuming they snuck to a ship that went straight to Europe but they jumped from the ship when it's nearing Rome

I personally think Alex didn't wanna go back to the zoo, at least after the first movie & he had a very big ego so he didn't wanna say that Marty was right. But he changed and was able to say "Marty you're right. Wild life is fantastic" & so they had more of a motivation to go, you know? Because everybody was kinda on board with the idea.. Was Afro Circus Marty for Halloween this year. I work at a high school and almost everyone started singing the song and took a picture with me. There were only two of us teachers dressed up for Halloween and I had an absolute blast.

While I love this movie, something that kinda always bothered me was how they suddenly wanted to go back to NYC immediately from the very beginning. I mean from the way the last movie ended, they we're happy in Africa. Alex found his parents, Melman and Gloria were together, and Marty was living his best life. I don't mind if they wanted to go back to NYC, but I just wished they showed the reason why they wanted to go back.
Honestly i think its a mix of obligation And a Tiny bit of homesickness/feeling of belonging in the zoo. Like im Pretty sure they Want to go back ONLY because they have wanted to go back from the beggining but they Hadn't yet realized the problem with that And the lack of freedom they would get from Being back in the zoo.
I always think its interesting when people make little comments on the believability of teaching the trapeze.....when there are talking animals literally doing the impossible.
As much as I like this one, I find it a bit too wacky for my tastes. Sure, the trilogy has always been wacky but this really kick things up a notch when it comes to wackiness. And them not acknowledging Alex’s parents again really bothered me. Like, no Alex meeting his mom or dad that he’s leaving Africa? That feeling never left me throughout this movie… My personal ranking of the trilogy: 1 > 2 > 3

I went to the circus exactly once, and one strangled goose later (clow thought it'd be funny to stuff the animal in his oversized pants), I grew up hating any kind of animal acting, and I'm glad digital animals are finally looking realistic. I love that the Cirque du Soleil does no animal numbers whatsoever, and that's the only kind of circus I approve.
i know this is a hot take: Europe’s Most Wanted is definitely my favorite of the Madagascar trilogy, mainly because it has the best animation and lighting and the story flows at a perfectly slower pace compared to the second one, but the cherry on top is the perfect ending😘

The Firework sequence is one of the few times when I've gasped sat in slack-jawed disbelief at what was happening in the cinema. Utterly spectacular.
