Does anyone know of a mod that just removes all the monsters from any of the 1st 3 SH games? Maybe adds an animation that lets you sit in the chairs and benches around the town and in the buildings? I just love being there so much and don't wanna have to worry about having to kill stuff. Please let this be a thing.

Silent Hill is one of those rare franchises where the soundtrack has a defined personality, and completely compliments it in literally every way in the most perfect way possible. There is absolutely NOTHING generic about Silent Hill 's music (barring Downpour, which is a generic game in general, but I'd rather not speak more of that trash) Personally, I think the soundtrack of Silent Hill was at it's absolute peak with Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3. Much of that is personal bias, nostalgia, and definitely taste, but I really believe that as a fact. I wish more horror games took a page from the earlier Silent Hills, and really STUDY what made them masterful. However, that would require someone _special,_ someone who has the right ideas, right vision, creative imagination, and an eye for originality, absolute quiet subtlety, twisted beauty, and attention to detail.
Akira Yamaoka did masterpieces with all the Silent Hill soundtracks in which was involved, but with Downpour, they took Dan Licht, wich clearly was a bad decission.
Akira Yamaoka's work in the 2-3 game soundtracks has always remained my all-time favourite soundtracks. It just takes you into the void and back and I can never get bored of it even the vocal tracks rock. It's incredibly nostalgic and distinguishable from pretty much anything. I really hope Akira comes back for more albums of some kind.
Matt Hayes The moment Akira Yamaoka left was when the last of Silent Hill's last piece of it's "personality" left. I don't know if I can find the absolute right word, but Akira has such a SPECIAL creativity to his craft, and I am trying to put as much meaningful weight into the word special as I can, meaning he's one of a kind. He made sure to give his music every drop of emotional and passionate weight as he could, and it's completely clear he CARED about his craft, because some musicians don't - they would rather copy and paste generic royalty music and call it a day, but Akira went above and beyond and OWNED it. I mean, Silent Hill's soundtrack evoked every emotion from the book, made you swing from one end to the other, rinse and repeat. You can go from feeling calm, to sad, to hopeful, to really scared, to very peaceful. Makes you want to sit down on s bench in the town and play Null Moon with ear buds while you're surrounded by beautiful white fog. There's a twisted nature to everything, but it's very beautiful in a haunting way when you listen to the score. I've had a track that I love listening to from mostly Silent Hill 2 and 3, but also from 4, Homecoming, and Origins (I think those games also have a beautiful scoring, they don't match 2 or 3, but they don't NEED to).
Cameron Cunnings the early resident evil games up until cods Veronica done the same. Notably resident evil 2 and 3. Each track complemented the situation and the area you where playing in. Resident evil and silent hill will forever be the two powerhouses of horror and always the pioneers of survival horror. Terrific games, everything about them is near perfection and that’s not just nostalgia getting to me.
It would also take someone with the right motivation to do that as well. You can be utterly creative while utterly useless at the same time sadly. There's a lot of potential out there. Wanna see people who are creative, innovative, and disciplined.
Used to ride around my town at night on a mountain bike listening to this~ Only once did I get unnerved when I turned down a street with a massive black section at its middle due to an out-of-service street light. I can't even remember what I did... Did I ride through it...? Did I turn back...? I'm not stuck in Silent Hill so I'm guessing that whatever I did...I did the right thing, hahahahahahaha! xD
are we the same person living the same memories? i swear the exact same thing happened to me, riding home from work and listening to Silent Hill soundtracks before running into a dark road near an industrial zone… i will be honest, having Mansion Horrors come on as I realised that they weren’t the type of streetlight activated by a sensor… scared the absolute shilent shilt outta me!
There have undoubtedly been great scores since then, but I get what you mean and I agree. Not that the bar is set anywhere near a low spectrum, it's quite a marvel.
Shane Wickham there are still good developers out there. I wish micro transactions and lootboxes would die out. And with remasters/remakes, there are games that deserve it and once in a while you’ll get something special like the Shadow of the Colossus remake as a treat. If only Konami would treat us fairly and do things that would actually make them money. I would love a remake of SH1 or MGS1. Better yet, a new Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 1 - 3: Definitely one of the best stories I've ever been dragged into. Besides the brilliant atmosphere, entangled plots and the superb created characters - the OSTs are outstanding. Akira Yamaoka... chapeau.

I’ve been a fan of SH despite the fact that I’ve never played any of the games. Only for that dreamlike soundtrack. I go to sleep to it. I even caught some other Akira yamaoka work outside of SH and it’s great also.
i downloaded a ps2 emulator in order to play sh3 then i pirated sh2 because retail was over 200 dollars... when there is a will there is a way and it was totally worth it .

Sinto saudades do tempo em que eu era um adolescente despreocupado, que passava dias e noites jogando no meu Playstation 2, aquele tempo faz uma falta enorme. Os jogos carregavam significado, eram obras de arte, hoje sinto que tudo é superficial e padronizado demais. Os anos 2000 fazem uma falta enorme pra mim, falta eu tenho de jogos como Silent Hill, se eu pudesse voltar no tempo com toda certeza voltaria...

These kind of ambient tunes are the best in silent hill. The rock tunes are what everyone usually remembers. Just like resident evil 2 ONLY, this certain style is never really seen in other video games and seems to have vanished now

The airy/ambient synth tracks are my favorite. Then the more trip hop style tracks are great as well, such an interesting style for what’s a terrifying game. Adds a whole other dimension to it.

There have undoubtedly been great scores since then, but I get what you mean and I agree. Not that the bar is set anywhere near a low spectrum, it's quite a marvel.
there just not as passionate about making games anymore, it's more about remasters remakes and microtransactions these days sigh.....
Shane Wickham there are still good developers out there. I wish micro transactions and lootboxes would die out. And with remasters/remakes, there are games that deserve it and once in a while you’ll get something special like the Shadow of the Colossus remake as a treat. If only Konami would treat us fairly and do things that would actually make them money. I would love a remake of SH1 or MGS1. Better yet, a new Silent Hill.

I’ve been a fan of SH despite the fact that I’ve never played any of the games. Only for that dreamlike soundtrack. I go to sleep to it. I even caught some other Akira yamaoka work outside of SH and it’s great also.

i downloaded a ps2 emulator in order to play sh3 then i pirated sh2 because retail was over 200 dollars... when there is a will there is a way and it was totally worth it .

Jogo incrível, uma trilha sonora incrível, e o mais engraçado é que mesmo a saga Silent Hill tendo sido pensada pra gerar medo, hoje em dia eu me pego escutando a trilha sonora desse jogo pra relaxar, e sinto tudo exceto medo...
Sinto saudades do tempo em que eu era um adolescente despreocupado, que passava dias e noites jogando no meu Playstation 2, aquele tempo faz uma falta enorme. Os jogos carregavam significado, eram obras de arte, hoje sinto que tudo é superficial e padronizado demais. Os anos 2000 fazem uma falta enorme pra mim, falta eu tenho de jogos como Silent Hill, se eu pudesse voltar no tempo com toda certeza voltaria...

These kind of ambient tunes are the best in silent hill. The rock tunes are what everyone usually remembers. Just like resident evil 2 ONLY, this certain style is never really seen in other video games and seems to have vanished now

The airy/ambient synth tracks are my favorite. Then the more trip hop style tracks are great as well, such an interesting style for what’s a terrifying game. Adds a whole other dimension to it.
