Community Notes contributor here. Can confirm that if a post gets noted, monetization is permanently disabled for that post. Editing the post to remove the note does not restore monetization. Also if an account gets community noted frequently enough (I do not know the exact criteria), that account CAN be flagged in the Twitter back-end that removes monetization on the entire account, although the demonetization has to be manually applied.
community notes was announced in August 2020 and added a few weeks into January 2021 in the form of the Birdwatch program (notably a better name than "community notes" in the same way "tweet" is a better name than post) Musk specifically requested for it to be renamed to community notes a few months after he took over, which is probably why you never heard of it before he took over
Yes, just like renaming Twitter, one of only two websites on the internet popular enough to become verbs (alongside googling); Musk renamed Birdwatch into the most boring, bland, and uninspired description ever.
Thank you! I was wondering why such a cool feature would be introduced around the time he was fucking everything up. I guess because it was a separate site, it didn’t get attention until people expected big changes.
1:10 as someone with ADHD, who went 24 years unmediated, I can wholeheartedly say I ABSOLUTELY need Adderall! been on it for 4 years and holy shit my life is so much more productive. I’m actually living life instead of struggling to function every damn day!
Glad you got some help! I'm still disappointed there's idiots who thinks it's fake, _especially_ a certain neurologist who I won't name out of respect for him. *Cough cough* Fred Baughman *cough cough*
Or like telling a disabled person they don't need their aid of whatever kind. I agree I wish I didn't but I'm not paying a penny which is good because I didn't ask for said problem in the first place!
I started taking Adderall a few months ago, and I, too, need it. I was on something else before it, which also worked very well, but the worldwide shortage of one of the ingredients made me switch over to Adderall.
6:20 It also increases the risk of things like mudslides, since there are less roots anchoring soil down, its more likely to be eroded quicker by runoff and cause slides.
Have you ever been to Atlanta? Georgia at all? I lived there. Deforestation my backside. If there's not a building or r a road, there's a tree. Georgia is a freaking forest in and of itself. Cigarettes, you know the era, sleeping pills… half his descendants have minimally an SSRI that nudges you on that or we don’t sleep without intake of pots not cups). Dad’s a retired biochemistry professor. Aunt taught the intellectually disabled side of special education but read the ADHD literature. I have a History degree and have used Ritalin by prescription (they had adequate work arounds and control of work space so didn’t pursue it). Maybe something in the late morning meeting? Not Robert’s drone or the temperature they put John out twice last month” or whatever…
I mean, we use different technical terminology, but in a common and literal use of the word, they are. 'Disease' is defined as "an abnormal condition that affects the structure of function of an organism". I would say that neurodevelopmental disorders 'affect the function' of humans that have them.

Viewers added context: 15:41 Community Notes, previously called "Birdwatch", was launched as an experimental feature in 2021, under the administration of Twitter's creator, Jack Dorsey. The feature was expanded in November 2022, under Musk's (a.k.a Dingleberry McDip***t) management.

The "ADHD is just a term big farma made up to get people addicted to Adderall" is so funny to me since, I have ADHD and I need to be reminded to take my medication. You can not be addicted to something, if you need to be reminded to take it.
Sure you can. It can be a physical addiction instead of a mental one. I have a physical addiction to caffeine and will go through withdrawl if I don't get enough in a day. That doesn't mean I haven't had days where I realize it's noon and I better start getting something caffienated otherwise my afternoon will suck.
@@dracobengali I get what your trying to say, but (at least for me) if I don't take my meds I won't realize it until someone asks me, and then it's too late to take them most of the time, and I will have (in my mind) wasted an entire day. There are no withdrawal symptoms, my body doesn't remind me, I need outside reminders like my family or alarms.

Furthermore, phenotypic variation is a thing (basically, the physical appearances of the same species can vary quite noticeably across different populations) Furthermore, there are more extreme examples of phenotypic variation in nature. For example, many ants have different 'castes' of the same species (Queen, drone, worker, soldier, etc) which are literally the examples of extreme phenotypic variation.
Also dogs. According to their logic, a chihuahua and a Berner Sennenhund aren't of the same species and completely different and incompatible despite both being dogs, and they'd probably hesitate to say that a Shire horse is a horse but a Fallabella isn't, cause they're both horses. Why is it so hard to understand for these people?
@@lydiagalantmotherf then again, there's an undercurrent of racist weirdos who do use dogs as a metaphore for human race, claiming there are evil or inferior dog races. it's pretty demented
Yup. Male peacocks are super pretty with their blue and green feathers while female peacocks are brown. By the way, humans aren't even sexually dimorphic. We're sexually bimodal. We have a distribution range where *most* (but not all) individuals congregate at or near one of the two ends of the range. Some people are literally born with a mix of diddle-bits. Some people produce a different hormone gradient than the diddle-bits they're born with. Both ends of the range produce testosterone AND estrogen, just at different gradients. The hormone gradients can change at various stages of life, sometimes changing back and forth within a few days. Ergo, bimodal, not dimorphic. Anti-trans is scientifically stupid.

12:27 Technically, yes, this is true. Lesbians can like men. Sexual and romantic attraction are often different. And on some VERY rare occasions, a lesbian may be attracted to a man if they are lesbian sexually and romantically because people are straying further from gender norms, meaning someone can identify as a man, but appear as a woman.
You have to be specific. Lesbian as someone from the Island of Lesbos (where Sappho was born) or Lesbian as in gay women (who stole the Demonym from the People of Lesbos because they like Sappho).
12:17 If it weren't for the first point, I'd say that lesbians could technically do all of that because of self and social pressure before figuring out they were a lesbian. We actually do, it's just the US doesn't. Finland has been building the Onkalo Nuclear Waste Repository since 2015. Robin ... Project 2025 literally has things to get rid of most of the free National Weather service and NOAA and other live saving weather services so they can force privatized ... thus meaning mass casualty events from lack of proper information on weather is going to be STANDARD ... so yes, they ARE REALLY OUT HERE DOING THIS.
Ironically, most of the states where extreme weather events like tornadoes and hurricanes hit are red-heavy areas. Meaning Republicans are stupidly killing off their own voter base. Just like they did with anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-distancing nuttery around the pandemic. The main reason they're keeping up with the losses is because they also happen to attract people who reproduce like it's the 18th century (more biological fodder means at least one survives long enough to reproduce- or, in this case, vote). The second reason they're keeping up with the losses is through an extreme disinformation campaign spanning the past ~80 years. Because left-wingers tend to reproduce at a more reasonable rate, population hits do more damage in a short amount of time. That's probably what right-wingers are banking on. Even if they die themselves, they're hoping they take out enough of us at the same time to 'even the playing field'. If we had better education, no gerrymandering, no electoral college, and more transparency in campaign financing, Republicans would never win another election with their current rhetoric. It's also worth bearing in mind that the US's Overton window of acceptable public discourse is skewed way farther to the right than pretty much any other place on Earth. Our moderates are the world's right-wingers. Our left-wingers are the world's moderates. American politics is fcked.

the one about lesbians is just wrong. the distinction between lesbians and bi women has always been blurry on purpose, since orientation is commonly somewhat fluid. Some of the foundational pieces of queer writing that helped establish many of the labels in use today explicitly bring up that there are no hard lines, and it's about what label each person thinks best communicates how they are. The notion that lesbians can never have been with men largely originates from the gold star lesbian movement, which had its origins in female and lesbian separatist ideologies of some branches of radical feminism

WHAT? WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT?

I was expecting the Community Notes for the snake post to actually be something like:
"No snake is poisonous. What you mean is 'venomous'. If it bites you and you die, it's venomous; if you bite it and you die, it's poisonous."

0:58 dude I need clonidine just to act normal and that's coming from someone who has both ADHD and asperger's
telling us we don't need something like adderall or clonidine is a recipe for tons of uncontrollable bursts of rage and a terrible household
Same bro, but I don't actually take anything as both are somewhat mild in my case
Maybe I'm just self medicating with the weed though😅
Also, I feel like just as ADHD and ADD were, ADHD and autism might just be put on one big ol' spectrum at some point
I was on both
I think I have both. I could have autism and adhd (combined type) because I get so hyperactive on things like writing, drawing, art, my stuff animals, and among us. I also do get distracted, sometimes most be interrupting my teachers, my friends and even my mom. I also impulsive when it comes to anger because I get so angry that I had no control over myself. I also prefer to be alone ever since childhood. I also stim but not often and sometimes I like sitting and even if I stand, I feel like I wanna go back to sitting again. I also search things on my backpack many times. I also have uncomfortable burst of anger and frustration.
I have to say this really quickly before I forget, I just dreamed an entire video where damien just narrated a bunch of catgirls invading twitter

Fun fact, the most recent ancestor of crocodiles and alligators lived about 235 million years ago when the clade Crocodylia emerged.
The most recent ancestor of all humans(mitochondrial eve and mitochondrial adam) lived less than 1 million years ago
Before humans were even humans, lol.
9:46 That's actually a really well-trained AI. Like, I can't point to any particular thing that can't be explained easily. Like, the finger on the hand fully in view gets weird, but it looks a little more like sand falling off than a messed-up finger. You can obviously tell it's AI generated because duh, they didn't find whatever religious thing that is, and even if they did: it wouldn't've been 2 little boys digging in the sand, it would've been a whole excavation team digging way down, since it's a Biblical (I'm assuming) artifact; and it wouldn't be creating pillars of sand, because magic isn't a thing. However, judging solely by the contents and not the premise, you can't really point to anything in particular and say "THAT looks like AI."
4:35 brie and camembert also intentionally contain mold, that's what the rind is ^^. This isn't important or overly relevant or anything I just thought I'd mention it as a fun fact you may not know
Made vegan camembert recently, watching the mold grow over it was really cool!
Thanks for the additional fact, I didn't know some cheeses had the rind be mold. That's kinda interesting.

Adderall helps me so much. I fell for th elies that it was useless and stopped taking it once I was 18. Over the next several years my life spiraled and I wondered why I couldn't ever get anything done. I'm back on it now that I stopped listening to the lies about it and realized I needed it. I am happily improving my life and able to work consistently on my projects after being back on it.

23:40 As a Filipino can i just say, fuk you to guy that claimed spain "didn't ruin their colonies" I personally I'm not bothered by it anymore, but it did happen and people were killed. Not just killed, public executions and torture was rampant in the 300 years we were under them. I can't say for certain if it would have been different if it was a different country that colonized us, but it did happen and it's not something that should be dismissed just because England had more colonies.
As a Mexican, i fully agree with you
I love seeing people get Community Noted, but the "Community Notes Violations" account was bought out by an extreme-right person who started acting weird - the same person who bought out Santa Decides.
the one about lesbians is just wrong. the distinction between lesbians and bi women has always been blurry on purpose, since orientation is commonly somewhat fluid.
Thank you I was just coming down here to say that!
(Source: I am lesbian)
The community notes only commented on attraction to men not any of the other statements.
I kinda feel bad for the people of the Island of Lesbos who had their demonym, Lesbian, stolen by gay women just cause that was the island Sappho was born. Probably the only "Lesbians" that can like men XD. It would be like if a gay man poet was from Texas and people decided Texan was now the word for gay men
Thank you, I was thinking similarly!
@@clarehidalgo that's just how language works. We call English people English, but the word originates with a meaning closer to "those who fish". Obviously not every English person goes fishing, but the name stuck

1:50 so she was fired for doing her job? Her job is to make the house win or something I’m pretty sure. The house won. Except that she wasn’t because she did her freaking job.
Still though, imagine if she did get fired. Like, you do your job correctly and get fired anyway? All because someone was angry they lost their money.
Moral of the story: don’t gamble
Suggesting humans are "addicted to dopamine" is like suggesting humans are "addicted to water"... we kinda need both.
And she calls adderal "dopamine pills", which they aren't, they're a form of m-th...
10:33 It could also be the change in currency. The yuan is worth 0.14 of a US dollar bill in 2024.
However the 768k was proven to be from Hong Kong, but Hong Kong's local currency (HKD) is worth 0.13 of a US dollar bill. I'm curious if the award was in HKD or USD because it would make things far more clear.
Anyone who thinks coal is clean doesn’t know a single thing about the Industrial Revolution
12:31 There is one exception to this, there are some lesbians (and gay men, for that matter,) who make exceptions for when their partner transitions. I forget the exact term but it does exist. I doubt this is what the original tweet was talking about, though.
4:44 Akshually, Chipmunks are in the family of squirrels (Sciuridae). The one typically referred as "squirrel" is just in a different sub-family; Sciurinae as opposed to the chipmunk's Xerinae.

- Every human being is different, and deserves to act and believe however they wish, as long as they don't interfere with the rights of other humans.

I've met Levar Burton a number of times, casually as buddies/aquaintainces. Guy's an absolute blast, first met him at a convention I volunteered for when he want to play "Cards Against Humanity" up in the gaming floor, and I was the only person who actually had the game on hand (it was not in the Board Game Library for, obvious reason).
For a few years afterwards, he came back as a volunteer for the convention, rather then an announced guest simply because he loved the vibe of the convention. There was even a year I remember where we even played round of Cards Against Humanity at the convention afterparty for the volunteers with him, the Creator of Nyan Cat and... one other big name that is escaping my mind at this point.
*Edit:* _According to my brother, it was John Kovalic._
Also have met Wil Wheaton thru him as well when they were both randomly in the city and called up a number of the Gaming Volunteers to go out to the Gaming Lounge.
Good memories.
