    Hey awesome video man! I'm getting an MT09 next week, just sold my old bike. Can you go through just the ins and outs of the MT09? All the modes, tips, things you wish you knew? How to properly clutch in with that absolute torque machine, what modes/traction stuff to use when starting out, what to use when its raining, when racing, when theres gravel on the road etc etc

    • @slothmoto
      @slothmoto  9 месяцев назад +10

      Holy moly that’s a lot. Basically the mt09 has 3 riding modes. B mode is the “beginner mode”. It just limits the power delivery. STD mode (standard) will give you all the power in a controlled format. A mode makes your teeth wiggle. The different traction control modes are basically the same. TC 2 will keep both wheels on the ground without breaking traction. TC 1 only keeps one wheel on the ground and will keep the rear week from spinning. TC off is crack monkey mode. I would only use TC off if you want to do wheelies or burnouts otherwise I would just stay in TC 1. I would advise using TC 2 while learning the bike and its power so you don’t have to worry about looping a wheelie. As far as tips and tricks, buying a steering dampener would be good. Also I highly suggest having your ecu flashed when you get a new exhaust. This can also help with the twitchy throttle. I recommend vcyclenut. I found that I actually enjoyed the stock exhaust, but I do think a aftermarket exhaust is better (for sound). Do some research before buying one though. Austin Racing will shoot big flames and sounds amazing;)

      just to clarify, those riding modes are for the older generations. The third gen (20-23) has separate 1-4 riding modes that affect the power input from harsh to smooth) and 1-2-manual-off TC modes that you can fiddle with. Riding mode 1 with no TC is literally just asking to flip it, you can do a wheelie even when standing still with it. Riding mode 2 is smoother even with traction control fully turned off. You can also just keep the traction control on, and turn off lift control from the settings.@@slothmoto

    Just got my 2019 MT09 this winter, coming from 4 years on an R6, before that an R1 and GSXR 750 and by far this is the most comfortable, fun and intimidating bike yet! Coming from a liter bike guy who’s dragged knee before lol
    I watched your video but didn’t do much as I want to get my frame sliders on after I get a longer allen key.
    Got the bike, 1st owner said A mode is easy. Yeah, no. That’s anal mode and I call B bitch mode 😅 I use it in B with TCS1 but did A today with TCS off, 3 grand and pull as per your into, it came up!! Tried it again later and it felt like it tugged my weak old fat arms out then came down and went back up. I’ll get more confidence and sliders first. But you’ll get at least 50 more views from me on this one vid lol
    Had it going with the laptop and my legion go at the parking lot, showing other bros. We kept rewinding, like 10-15 mid experience and noobs commenting and now you’ve taught my friends well. I just need to do it.
    The R6 I had to twist the nipples off a banshee to get to the powerband, rode like a 250 unless. R1 and gixxer were instant yeet but I’d be going 100 in no time. This is like standing on stilts or the front of a bull then tazing it’s balls 🤣 😳 but trying to hang on
    Wind deflected helped a lot, not used to no windscreen
    I now ride using the 2 finger mode after 6 years riding.
    TLDR, Ty!!
    Edit.. *Subbed* 👍
    Derp! Standard mode it will be now for me lol + light rear brake & roll it out via light steady rev. As well I don’t need to learn the first month. Kk done, ty

    • @slothmoto
      @slothmoto  5 месяцев назад

      Lift control is probably to prevent wheelies. So I would turn that off if you plan to wheelie. It shouldn’t affect traction control. But I personally turn both off

    • @asdfasdf28595
      @asdfasdf28595 5 месяцев назад

      @@slothmotoafaik if lift control is not at its highest level, its easy to do wheelies and the electronic prevents you from rollover, which would make it more simple and secure. would be interesting to know if a trained person could test that and see how it behaves :D i dont want to waste my 10k+$ motorcycle :]

    • @slothmoto
      @slothmoto  8 месяцев назад

      Honestly you could clutch up in second gear at almost any speed. I usually like to be at 30mph or less. Just because you can hold it longer and you have more control. But 115mph is a crazy wheelie.

  • @mariandragoi2218

      There is nothing better than a good wheelie. I do always try to ride in my limits, but there is always a bit of a risk. Just depends on what you’re comfortable with. I only pull wheelies when I’m comfortable. Plus it’s an mt09. It would be a crime to not pull a wheelie.

    How do you shift in a wheelie on the mt09

    • @slothmoto
      @slothmoto  9 месяцев назад +2

      I’m not the best at it but I tend to shift as the wheel is still going up. If you pull in the clutch to shift while the wheel is going down then it’s much harder to get the wheel to go back up. Since your cutting the power to the rear wheel when you pull in the clutch.
      Also it’s important to shift while your not at the end of the power otherwise the bike won’t have enough juice to keep going in the new gear.
      So say you pull a wheelie in second gear. Shift once the wheel reaches the height required to hold it for a while. Then hold it for a little bit as you ride through the gear then shift it in the same way and repeat.
      As far as the clutch and throttle, it should be a quick pull in and release of the clutch. Be careful with the throttle. Don’t give it extra juice until you let out the clutch again or else you will basically be trying to clutch up a wheelie in a wheelie. I did that once. Thought I was going to die.
      I suck at explaining things well so sorry if this doesn’t make since.

Im a Finn and love speed, but i still use my head and not go full retard, never go full retard :D Secondly, im a tall guy 192 cm so im wondering will this be a problem or comfort issue with this bike?

    • @slothmoto
      @slothmoto  3 месяца назад +1

      As long as you are careful, have self control, and don’t chug an energy drink before you ride, you will probably be fine. Obviously it’s not a great beginner bike though. I would recommend sticking to b mode with traction control on until you become comfortable with how it handles. Honestly b mode is the best mode. A mode is just crack monkey mode. Since you’re on the taller side it should fit better. You will probably be able to flat foot it easily. I’m 175cm and it fits me pretty well.
