    I'd put Sting v. Hogan at #1 simply because it spelled the end of WCW. 18 months wasted with a horrible match, a botched finish, and a subsequently bad debut by Bret all come together to make a delicious pot of "Fuck This Company Stew".

    • @SirJoelsuf1
      @SirJoelsuf1 8 лет назад +6

      Its been documented that revealing that Mankind wins the WWE title on Nitro spelled the end. Half the Nitro viewers changed the channel in seconds lol

    • @ilikethecokev2
      @ilikethecokev2 8 лет назад +9

      I know, and it had probably the best build up to a match in the company's history, to boot. That just made it sting (no pun intended) all the more.

    • @greenskiis
      @greenskiis 8 лет назад +4

      **** Hogan for that colossal CF. Most selfish decision in wrestling history given the lead-up, circumstances, and the fact that Hogan was a chicken who wigged out at the mere sight of Sting before more than holding his own during it. TOTAL BS!!!

    • @Holden308
      @Holden308 8 лет назад +4

      While the 18 month build up to Hogan vs Sting was mostly good and the finish absolute garbage, unfortunately the botch started the week before Starrcade on Nitro. Sting came down from the rafters as per normal when Hogan and Bischoff were in the ring. The eventual beatdown of Sting started when Hogan hit him with the most pathetic punch to the back I have seen and Sting went down like a lead balloon. For 18 months Sting had been this invincible vigilante mostly against the nWo. No one, not Nash, not Hall, Giant, Savage....none of them could touch him. Yet Hogan gives him a virtual love tap to the back and he crumples in a heap allowing other nWo members to rush the ring and beat him up. I know it was designed to make it look like Hogan was the only one in the nWo who stood a chance against Sting, but the way it was done was pathetic and just killed the invincible thing they had going with Sting.

    In an interview with Dusty Rhodes, he says The Shockmaster had practiced busting through the wall before the show. WCW announcer David Crockett had someone nail a 2 by 4 on the lower half of the wall which the shockmaster was not aware of. Still a bad botch but Rhodes blames Crockett for that claiming he sabotaged them.

      Stevie Ray said the same thing. He said Sid Vicious warned the prop guys that the board was too high & he was gonna trip on it, but they didn’t listen. And then it happened! That’s why you hear Sid saying, “Oh, God! I told ya!” when it happened! 😂😂

  • @HighHeelKnight
    @HighHeelKnight 8 лет назад +3

    I remember Sin Vicious destroying his leg. It was horrible. I had never seen an in-ring injury like that before. Those kind of moments (a) make me glad that I didn't pursue a wrestling career, and (b) showcase how athletes often get injured during "simple" tasks, like Enzo Amore getting immediately knocked out while sliding under the bottom ring rope. :-(

  • @mace106

    how about when wcw announced that Mankind would win the world title and everyone changed channel

    • @stalectos
      @stalectos 8 лет назад +3

      pretty sure it only technically counts as a botch if in the course of what was planned something goes wrong not if the plan being done correctly ends in disaster. basically if you wanted to jump off the roof of your house onto a trampoline and you missed the trampoline and broke your leg that is a botch. if you do the same but break your leg landing on the trampoline it's not a botch its being an idiot.

    • @mace106
      @mace106 8 лет назад +7

      am pretty sure wcw did not wont people changing channel

    • @stalectos
      @stalectos 8 лет назад +5

      mace106
      yes but it was intentional to tell people about mick foley winning so in the example i used it would be jumping off the roof hitting the trampoline but still breaking your leg. in other words they did what they planned to do the effect just wasn't what they wanted it to be.

    • @ScionOfTheSeventhDawn
      @ScionOfTheSeventhDawn 8 лет назад +3

      What Sid did when he jumped from the top rope was intentional too, only the effect wasn't what they wanted to be....

    Two things with the Shockmaster - they did a trial run earlier in the day, which went fine. Then when they rebuilt the piece of the set, they put a plank across the base of the collapsible bit, about two feet from the floor, as additional structure support. And they didn't mention this to the Shockmaster, despite his vision being severely limited by his helmet. So WCW tried something, it worked fine, so they dicked about with it and didn't mention it to the talent. Story of the company.
    Secondly, Shocky's helmet is/was actually a Stormtrooper's helmet (out of Star Wars) painted up and covered in glitter.

    • @stalectos
      @stalectos 8 лет назад +1

      *****
      here is the thing for shockmasters debut to be better than roman reigns entire career you have to be able to say nothing good about any part of reigns career at all. in this case that means either somehow saying he was responsible for 0% of the good moments the shield had or saying the shield had no good moments. that and either way you will likely not find any shockmaster fans but i know there is at least 1 roman reigns fan (namely me but im sure there are others).

    • @phillipwhite948

      Shockmaster didn't botch his entrance. He had a vision of the future and decided to do his impression of Roman Reigns' career.

    Say what you will about Sid but when the glittery storm trooper fell flat on his face, yes shockmaster Tenta I know, Sid was the only one that tried to salvage it. THe rest of them lost their shit. I guess it was just another day at the office for Sid.

    Actually, from what I heard Sid's leg break actually wasn't aired on the PPV as the camera was focused on the mystery man (Road Warrior Animal) backstage. They did show it the next night on Nitro, though.
    Also, one botch you missed was when Johnny "The Bull" did a springboard leg drop to the outside of the ring on Nitro and literally broke his ass.

Also also, Shockmaster had a terrible run after Wargames, and I'm surprised you didn't mention the crazy conspiracy theory where Shocky claimed someone "fixed" a portion of the wall that was supposed to break away, resulting in him tripping.

  • @Seekarr
    @Seekarr 7 лет назад

    Interesting enough. WCW's highest ratings were NOT in 96/97 when they dominated, but rather in late 98 and early 99, quite a while after the WWE had taken the lead; it just happened that WWE was SO dominant at the time that not even WCW hitting 5s and high 4s on the ratings were not enough to surpass WWE's.
    Then something happened, in later 1999 and through 2000, WWE found their strongest roster formula ever, and roasted all the competition. Maybe it was Austin, Taker, and Foley being out of the mix, but in 2000 it seemed like every single guy on the WWE roster was world champion worthy.
