im 43, been a hip hop fan since the early 90's. I watched OFWGKTA come up from the start, was following Tyler pre yonkers and have been watching him and his crew since the beginning. Tyler is the RZA for a newer generation. When the Wu came out they changed the game for hip hop at the time. the clan mentality, the visuals, the diy approach, Tyler and OFWGKTA were the wu-tang for the Jackass generation. stylistically, musically visually very different, yet took a similar approach (albeit it very different as their approach used the technology of the time, like social media, myspace, limewire etc)They showed how people could reshape the music industry to fit their vision, not be dependent on the major label system that had been the route to success prior to this era. They kicked the doors down culturally, creatively, artistically. they were more than music, they were a movement that resonated with people all over the world and along the way they evolved and grew into the artists they were meant to be. Tyler deserves all the success and more. they showed how artists can be free to create in anyway they saw fit and not be bound to specific ideas or genres. I wish the industry had more people like Tyler the creator, the world would certainly be a more interesting place for it
they were the face of that era and they and we aka everybody deserved to taste that moment and had their own voice, tyler knew exactly what he was doing, this is what happens if you have a vision and plans for your future an odd future he gave that is for sure

White skater kids have been listening to hip hop way before Odd Future came on the scene. I grew up in the 90’s & acts like Tribe, Del the Funkee Homosapien, Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, Wu Tang etc etc were being played during skate sessions as much, if not more than, punk or hardcore. First thing that turned me on to OF was that they reminded me of kids I grew up with.
I came here to say this, I’m 45 and we were bumping Del tha funky homosapien because of the Plan B Questionable video and we were listening to backpack rap like the Pharcyde in the early 90’s when it was a chore to find rap in my little provincial town in Kent.
I'm sad for you that you missed out on the peak OF wave. In my middle and high schools, there was always this "TGOD vs YMCMB vs OF" thing happening, you had "weird" kids like me wearing OF hoodies every single day, listening to the OF mixtape, Wolf, or Bastard on repeat. We'd blast "Oldie" in the back of the bus word for word- and it never got old. I'm glad Tyler became more progressive and more "acceptable" in some ways, but man I miss the feeling of the 2010s shock-value conglomerate that had a chokehold on inner-city kids like myself and my friends.

Glad he has evolved and gotten more comfortable with his constantly changing art
The artist that you keep referring back to with the nails in his hair is Teezo Touchdown, who Tyler chose to perform in his 2022 tour as well as in Camp Flognaw 2023.
Tyler isnt lying when he says he does everything, he does do it all. most rappers have ghost writes, producers, video directors but tyler does it all and he does it well. Tyler has the potential to be one of the GOATs, hes definitely in my top 5
I missed the OF era too! But only because i grew up in a post communist country which had totally no idea what is going on in the rest of the world. Found Tyler and OF not even a year ago feeling ashamed lol
tyler realy changed the culture of hiphop. i vividly remember when oddfuture/tyler the creator came out!!! hearing bastard , goblin , the whole oddfuture era it was like a breath of fresh air!! i rember going to the oddfuture concerts and seeing that culture shift happen in real time! man!! tyler really isnpired me with my music and how i make music. tyler really a legend. people need to give tyler his flowers
odd future popped right at the end of high school / start of college for me, been riding with tyler's progression as an artist since. its been a hell of a ride, will never forget the hype for the return of Earl Sweatshirt
I liked Tyler when he was young and made stupid rap shit. Then when flower boy dropped, I was a hater not gonna lie. I have just graduated HS and was heavy into skateboarding. Then Igor dropped then I was a little bit more mature and found how much of an amazing artist he is. Same with MMLP2 in 2013. I started liking it around 2019. Beautiful albums
I’ve been a fan since near enough the beginning. Tyler from the Wolf Trilogy era for me will never be topped but I still thoroughly enjoy everything he puts out, but specifically his clothes and music. When Theresa May banned him from the UK I was fuming. I’d already seen him live a few times but I copped a Reading Festival ticket that year purely to see him again and she ruined it the miserable old bint. Really enjoyed this video so big ups!
I feel this. I had a hot freestyle album in my hometown when I was young, and people still ask me if I’ll do another one. I probably could have kept doing the same thing and had some limited success, but I just wanted to try different things. Even after I couldn’t replicate my original success with different genres, I still wanted to try something new. It’s been almost 25 years since that album dropped, and some people still haven’t moved on. They have zero interest in me being anything other than that guy. I don’t write pop songs anymore, I don’t really make “beats” in the traditional sense and I mostly try making experimental music that most people probably wouldn’t like. Just a few weeks ago, I decided that I would make another freestyle album. Not because I want to chase fame or celebrity like I did as a kid, but because my wife told me that she always listens to that album when I’m not around and she wants another one. That may be the only thing on earth that could inspire me to do what everyone else wanted me to do all along. If people like it, cool…and if not, it’ll be fun to be inspired by something so unique. I might not even let anyone else have a copy.
Tyler the Creator is the best type of artist for me: the one that doesn't get stuck in one sound type and keeps reinventing itself almost like the Beatles after the Rubber Soul
Being one of the people that have been here from the beginning and seeing all the talent that came through Tyler and the odd future camp, the growth and artistry from Tyler, earl, frank, Syd, hodgy, left brain, Steve lacy, etc, was just ridiculous.
i took so long to listen tyler because everyone else was listening to him, so i figured he must not be that good. i regret it all because he now my favorite artist, the only one i've bought posters and drawn my own version of album covers for, and the only one i feel so deeply connected too. i don't know why but as a teen i'm so deeply infatuated with him and his music. he's just different
CFG 2023 was INCREDIBLE. I saw him at outside lands 2021 but only for half of his set, so being able to see a full show for once, It's something that you have to experience once in your life. Seriously.
I would like to take a moment to appreciate the quality of this video. I was fully engaged the entire time, and felt moved by its message. Major props to you for being able to convey that so well.
he’s such a unique soul who has no fucks to give. his music, art, his style, persona, it’s so weirdly beautiful and he’s so talented. i used to listen to him a lot as a young teen & saw him in concert 2 years ago when i was 16, it was an experience i’ll never forget. i’ve been to several concerts but the energy in his was unmatched. he even waved at me!! he truly made my teenage years so much more fun with his music.
05:03 listening to this song is us witnessing the beginning of a butterfly effect...that led to Tyler's synth addiction and expressions of his dark fantasies... the rest is history
tyler the creator is one of, if not, my favorite rapper of all time. kendrick, kanye, and tyler. they take the cake. no other rapper holds a candle to them.
he helped bring a lot of people together. those difficult lyrics helped me through difficult times and grappling with understanding concepts that were still new and scary to me as a vulnerable person in the world.
Hey bro I missed this era too, but I was in the middle of it. I started listening to Tyler and Odd Future when only Goblin and Wolf were out as albums, but it was dying down and Camp Flognaw came to my city just 2 months before I started listening and they never came again. but I did catch some of his tours though.
15:25 I flet the same i miss out on Odd future because I thought tyler and his crew were loud and annoying but I look back on it and there were just being themselves. Great times.

Great video Jimmy. It's interesting... it's like Tyler is the shining star of what COULD come out of this generation. It's hard to imagining a phenomenon like him existing in any other culture. He sets the right example for all of us...
I discovered Tyler through Flower Boy - ironically around the time Igor came out, and it's still one of my favorite albums. It's been a wild ride since then. He has helped make my late teens much less confusing, and now as I'm beginning my 20s I'm thankful to have him as an inspiration in my life. I may not be able to embody his lively, charming 'no fucks given' persona, but it sure as hell won't stop me from trying :) Odd Future Wolf Gang Kiss Them All
Tyler has done something that is very rare in hip hop and hip hop adjacent music, he has shown his growth as a person in his music and his business dealings. He hasn't sold himself out but has shown that as you get older your views and personality changes. How long are you gonna rap about "bitches, drugs and doing dumb shit"? Sure maybe an album or two but after that you kind of have to mature and move on because that is no longer, or at least shouldn't be any longer a part of your world day to day.

@@timcroft109 Kent, Ct or NY? I didn’t live far from either of those. (But I’m sure those aren’t the only Kents in the US lol)
@@phantasmo9446 ha ha neither bro. Kent in the UK. I live in a town about 26 miles away from France on the coast of England.

wish i was there for the come up but, im glad that im here for the peak.
2010s DIY punk re imagined
You sound like a real fan. You described it perfectly. Miss these days but so happy to see how far T has come
lol you know hes speaking facts becuz only those old enough back then,,= know about the ymcmb vs taylor gang lol
Yo I forgot this ..I rocked OF while the Taylor gang and young money people i thought was lame 💀
i am a huge tyler fan and i was born in 2011, i had no idea about him getting banned from countries and starting riots, thats crazy
your not a fan your 11 years old you dont know anything about him you only like 2 songs of his lmao
=
@@Lxydenbro I own IGOR on vinyl
Im actually 12
I know more than 2 songs💀
I also do know about him, as @JimmyTheGiant said some of his younger fans are completely oblivious to all of his earlier controversies.
Also who are you to tell me what I know and what I like?!
Stop being rude for no reason.
@@Revan-pj2lfdon’t mind him, he’s a dying breed of Tyler the creator dick riders that make the rest of the fans look weird af, you probably won’t see many more
@@Lxydendumbass just because he’s young dosnt mean he can’t enjoy Tyler. Anyone can enjoy Tyler at any age
bro I thought I was weird for listening to Tyler at 13 damn
I went through a big obsession with Tyler during Gobin/WOLF/Cherry Bomb Era. Watched every doc, interview, freestyle. Dressed like Tyler, talked like him, he really taught me how to voice my opinions and say fuck everyone if they aren’t supporting you. Glad he has evolved and gotten more comfortable with his constantly changing art
i have so much respect for how much effort you put in to this video
The artist that you keep referring back to with the nails in his hair is Teezo Touchdown, who Tyler chose to perform in his 2022 tour as well as in Camp Flognaw 2023.
Tyler isnt lying when he says he does everything, he does do it all. most rappers have ghost writes, producers, video directors but tyler does it all and he does it well. Tyler has the potential to be one of the GOATs, hes definitely in my top 5
I see his career as a progression of perfecting his sound, you can hear the jazzy melodic stuff in early tyler too just unrefined
I really hope in Tyler next album he makes a bar saying “I was poppin with OF before these onlyfans”
I've been a Tyler fan since 2011/2012. It's always so fun to see the mix of fans at his shows.
this is such a good quality video, i hope you get the deserved recognition
I missed the OF era too! But only because i grew up in a post communist country which had totally no idea what is going on in the rest of the world. Found Tyler and OF not even a year ago feeling ashamed lol
What country?
Tyler has for sure inspired me to branch out of my shell, and be my genuine self
Same fr!💯🔛🔝
Your editing and structure of this whole video was amazing !!! Just earned a new Subscriber :)
tyler realy changed the culture of hiphop. i vividly remember when oddfuture/tyler the creator came out!!! hearing bastard , goblin , the whole oddfuture era it was like a breath of fresh air!! i rember going to the oddfuture concerts and seeing that culture shift happen in real time! man!! tyler really isnpired me with my music and how i make music. tyler really a legend. people need to give tyler his flowers
Jimmy may never have a stellar rap career, but he's carving out a stellar VH1 Behind The Music style documentary career.
odd future popped right at the end of high school / start of college for me, been riding with tyler's progression as an artist since. its been a hell of a ride, will never forget the hype for the return of Earl Sweatshirt
Same here. The freestyles and the show is what got me on Tyler. That made me look into his music
I like mmlp2 but it should’ve been named something else tbh.
Man your vids just get better and better 👏

Tyler the Creator is the best type of artist for me: the one that doesn't get stuck in one sound type and keeps reinventing itself almost like the Beatles after the Rubber Soul
We need a movie about him so badly
Well done 👍🏽
Being one of the people that have been here from the beginning and seeing all the talent that came through Tyler and the odd future camp, the growth and artistry from Tyler, earl, frank, Syd, hodgy, left brain, Steve lacy, etc, was just ridiculous.
Doing research for your content live is dope
Thanks dude
i took so long to listen tyler because everyone else was listening to him, so i figured he must not be that good. i regret it all because he now my favorite artist, the only one i've bought posters and drawn my own version of album covers for, and the only one i feel so deeply connected too. i don't know why but as a teen i'm so deeply infatuated with him and his music. he's just different
Tyler made a generation of trolls. You didn’t miss anything if you weren’t a mega fan. 2011-2012 was a whole vibe. This was just a piece of it.
im obsessed with teezo, and seeing you mention him was amazing
CFG 2023 was INCREDIBLE. I saw him at outside lands 2021 but only for half of his set, so being able to see a full show for once, It's something that you have to experience once in your life. Seriously.
I would like to take a moment to appreciate the quality of this video. I was fully engaged the entire time, and felt moved by its message. Major props to you for being able to convey that so well.
Tyler's interviews and music taught me to be myself and fuxk whoever wants to change you or think your weird don't let people stop you
he’s such a unique soul who has no fucks to give. his music, art, his style, persona, it’s so weirdly beautiful and he’s so talented. i used to listen to him a lot as a young teen & saw him in concert 2 years ago when i was 16, it was an experience i’ll never forget. i’ve been to several concerts but the energy in his was unmatched. he even waved at me!! he truly made my teenage years so much more fun with his music.
05:03
listening to this song is us witnessing the beginning of a butterfly effect...that led to Tyler's synth addiction and expressions of his dark fantasies... the rest is history
That was a really cool video. Love him or hate him , he is loving life and doing it. respect
why did teezo touchdown catch a stray like that LMAO
White boy got no culture

tyler the creator is one of, if not, my favorite rapper of all time. kendrick, kanye, and tyler. they take the cake. no other rapper holds a candle to them.
I been a fan since his OG days, I got Spotify just to listen to his Wolf Album and I still rock my OF donut socks till this day.
he helped bring a lot of people together. those difficult lyrics helped me through difficult times and grappling with understanding concepts that were still new and scary to me as a vulnerable person in the world.
This is the best video about Tyler the creator ever made
Man your videos have great sucsess
great video man
Hey bro I missed this era too, but I was in the middle of it.
Man
I rock HEAVY with Tyler The Creator.
This man saved my life. I only just found him out a year ago but ive been digging and scratching and investigating and hes all I ever want to be. I know im not an OG but he arrived right at my low and Im so thankful that he did. His music keeps me happy, energetic, lively and kid you not he helps me get out of bed. I find it impressive the effect he's had on everything yet the little credit he's given.
Tyler, the creator saved my Fucking LIFE
Good video. Once a fan of Tyler the Creator music but no I’m over it. Just like Tyler is over his past. 🙏
Didn't expect Jimmy to diss Teezo twice like that
i’m a relatively new fan but i’ve known his music for YEARSSSS and i love tyler so much he’s so funny
Great job Jimmy. Thanks.

Tyler needs to see this man. This is put together so well.
I feel like Tyler truly does deserve all the fame and money and cars because he's worked SO hard and grown so much in his art. He's influenced an entire generation and is making his name known everywhere, using his impact positively and inspiring so many

Yeah, I'm one of those new fans... I was too young when he came out first. I want to explore him deeper when I find time.
LMAO, I remember that line in NYC from the start of the video. I met Earl, Tyler, Syd, and Frank that day. That was Earl's first appearance after Samoa. Legendary concert as well!
First I thought OF were too weird for me than I remembered I was a weirdo myself. Tyler is hilarious, loiter squad his freestyle are awesome memories. Call Me is one of my favorite albums dude is always good
this was a great video
for anyone wondering, 10:33 is the artists "Teezo Touchdown"
Honestly Tyler should do the magazine thing now
Great video Jimmy.
I may not be able to embody his lively, charming 'no fucks given' persona, but it sure as hell won't stop me from trying :)
Odd Future Wolf Gang Kiss Them All
so uhh...whats the video source @ 4:56??
This man is a lyrical genius and my biggest idol. I may have been late in getting into his music, but damn does he mean the world to me!
The "nails in the hair" kid is Teezo Touchdown who Tyler took on tour with him.
A documentary in 19 minutes. Legendary🔥🔥🔥🔥
