Yeah, it was. Throughout nearly the entirety of "Bastard", he was Ace, A personality that was very... uhh.. violent, to say the least. In "Goblin", his two personalities (Ace and Wolf Haley) were colliding. The song "Tron Cat" with the "f'd a pregnant bish and told my friends i'd had a threesome" line was the part of his concience Ace was controlled by, and Samuel is rapping (i think) in Rusty, but for sure was talking at the end of it, who is basically Ace, but is talked as by other people as not Tyler, but he is Tyler, but maybe he's not, it's confusing. At the end of "Goblin", he finds out Dr. TC, his "therapist" was actually just him, and he was talking to himself and it was basically all in his mind, and this is when he finds himself.

tyler all but comes out in the song “garden shed” on flower boy, so i feel like that probably should’ve been included in the gayness ranking. It’s all metaphor, sure, but like- listen to the lyrics. He’s laying out why he felt the need to hide this part of himself and what feelings went into that. How he’d have sex with women just to brag to friends about it, and didn’t want to tell anyone where his interests truly lie for fear of getting left behind by those he cared about. Plus he got estelle on there, notably an out bisexual, singing about some letting flowers bloom freely and butterflies leaving cocoons- which are both frequently used metaphors for both coming out and just growing into/coming to terms with ones true self. hell, in the music video for “sorry not sorry” when all the different periods of tyler’s career, manifested as the characters from each of his albums, all start apologizing about the mistakes he made, or to the people that tyler has hurt in his life, it’s the representation of flower boy that apologizes to the male partners he had over the years that he’d felt the need to hide, and the female partners he lied to to keep up this facade. just food for thought.
you make a very strong point here, I was debating on including his garden shed song, and maybe I should have. However, my thinking was I wanted to keep the video as concise as possible, and I thought that the kissing white boys line along with the title of the album was more than enough evidence for what I was trying to achieve. Thanks for this comment though this was a nice read.
@@Void_Eyez Glad you enjoyed reading my thoughts! Garden Shed is one of my personal favorites of Tyler’s discography, I’ll take any chance i can get to ramble on about it. I can’t help but look back on it fondly, both for how well it stands on its own as a song, and what it’s done for me personally :)

I think that’s why I didn’t listen to him at first. I was aware of Tyler back when he was still an edgelord and I didn’t like the way he talked about gay people. But knowing what I know about him now I think I can go back and understand that a lot of it is his struggle to accept who he was.
From the outside it looked like that, but from the beginning he had openly gay people in his collective that respected him. It was really just growing pains of trying to be funny and edgy with no real purpose or intent. Like COD lobbies.
tyler’s discography is unironically a good example about how insecurity of your own queer experience can create internalized (and expressed) homophobia
the album "Bastard" is telling the story of his worst possible self, and the album "wolf" is supposed to be his best possible self, and in "Goblin" its both of those possibilities being meshed into one person meaning that you can never be your best self or your worst, you're just you. got this from "a deep dive into Tyler's "Wolf" trilogy by TennisThom" very good vid you should watch it!
I thought he was bi because of Boyfriend Girlfriend. Or it might have been a different song I think on CMIYGL where he says he’ll let the other guy join in or smth.
Yeah he did say that on Corso I believe , but the album is so primarily focused on this one girl that I didn't think about adding it. But it wouldn't have hurt to..
Yeah he's pretty much confirmed he's bi irl. I think people are confused bc he used to troll people with jokes like when he said "I'm a fuckin homosexual" during Yonkers (I guess "I'm a fuckin bisexual" didn't match the beat lol)
Bastard do have an artistic vision, behind that shock value pissing off people is a creative person and him making narrative of sorts is already creative enough especially his beats sounding distinct in that project it already has that tyler signature sounds. The sounds compliment the subject matter very well, the opener Bastard for example with the use of classic dissonant horror chords is already conceptual enough with a slight ambiance string and with that synth resembling sirens. Most of the tracks are dark and atmospheric psychedelic esque with songs like Pigs Fly or VCR, also the limitations like it sounding like its made very pharell diy esque and the analog synths makes it feel off, few tracks does have chill music, the chords are just underrated in all of the tracks tbh they work so well.

The first 3 albums (Bastard, Wolf, Goblin), are telling a story with different personalities and alter egos, there is a good deep dive about them on YT, but in this trilogy it has a alter ego, “Ace” who is the worst possible version of Tyler, so he depicts a rapist, necrophile, cannibal, etc
really great video but eminems first album actually was infinite also goblin isnt an continuation to bastard. wolf comes before goblin in the "timeline" but still keep up the good work 👍
in bastard the person singing most of the songs was a persona named ace and it was basically the most fucked up crazy version of tyler and then in goblin the “r@pe a pregnant bitch line” was sung by another persona and kind of the antagonist tron cat. huzzah wolf trilogy (also as a lesbian i think his earlier lyrics are funny asf now that’s he’s out)
I’d like to point out that especially in the Wolf album, there are multiple alter egos or characters that are singing and if I remember correctly the line “FUCKING F*GGOT” is another character yelling that to Wolf Haley, the character (anyone correct me if I’m wrong, I tried :3)
As much as videos like this are deeply important, I think Tyler’s Journey, especially in light of Chromakopia, is a lot more deep than just his sexuality, even in the parts that are on the surface seemingly just about being gay. Maybe I’m reading way too much into it but the fact he says “I’ve been kissing WHITE boys since 2004” is kind of interesting, especially when his entire aesthetic (most notably on Call Me When You Get Lost) is very much inspired by “painfully white” artists like Lemony Snicket, Charles Baudelaire and Wes Anderson. Tyler (and pretty much all of Odd Future) have from the very beginning been about being the “weird black kids”, but I think as Tyler matures both as a person and in his art, he’s giving more nuance to that and, instead of confrontationally “not giving a fuck”, is learning how to give a fuck about what’s really important to him and what he wants to leave behind in his art. Getting back on subject, being able to say “yeah I’m bi, yeah I’m realizing relationships aren’t really for me and I’d rather hook up without strings attached, yeah I’m sorry I lied to people and took out my sexual insecurities on them, and yeah I want to at least try to find closure with how I feel about my dad and my legacy as both myself and also as an African American”. Again, probably way too deep for this video and Tyler seems to be consistently not been about making his art racial or focused on race, but it’s something I’ve been noticing in his art subconsciously
