- I'm swatching 45 beautiful homemade watercolor pigments from the lovely company Deep Deep Light. The colors are bold, rich, and full of personality. I've been following this company for months and I'm so excited to share some of their many colors with you. Since becoming one of their brand ambassador's all the colors have been sent to me for free, but all opinions and thoughts regarding these pigments are my own. I am not getting paid to do this video, but will get a small kickback if you decide to purchase any of their paints when using my code, deepdeepjackie at checkout.
I hope you fall in love with this company and their paints like I did.
Though I've been painting rocks for years in landscapes, I've recently been loving painting "rock swatches" which was inspired by NatashaNewtonArt and her lovely pebble swatches. I initially intended to paint "raindrops", but completely forgot and painted rocks. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.

Thank you so much for the mentions and for your kind comments on my channel/art/colours! I've subscribed to your channel too and look forward to watching more of your videos. This was so relaxing and it was very interesting to hear your thoughts on each colour. Beautiful swatching!
Absolutely! And I'm honored :) I hope you like moody forest landscapes... haha
It's been nice throwing this video into the mix, and I'm genuinely surprised how many people have enjoyed it. It's been a wonderful creative experience. Who knew describing colors would be such a challenge for me. It's one thing to paint and love the colors, but another to describe them and how they make you feel to an audience. I look forward to sprinkling in more videos like this.
Thank you Natasha!
I thought it was your channel at first!!! That's how unique your style is.
와우 나타샤~☆
I love the pebble swatches and these colors are amazing.
Thank you! Right? Just beautiful.
They are simply amazing paints. I purchased "Rae's Bloom" which was made specifically for Helen "Rae" Campbell who has a watercolor channel on RUclips. The granulation on some of the paints is so beautiful. I'm new still with watercolor and have purchased many brands like Daniel Smith and Winsor and Newton which most professional folks say are great paints and they are, but handmade watercolors are so personal and made with such specific care. I have many of the colors you mention. I absolutely LOVE my set.
Ooh I don't think I've come across her channel. Thank you for getting her on my radar; I'll check out her channel.
I haven't tried Rae's Bloom but certainly will.
Ooh I love Daniel Smith paints. I started with Winsor and Newton, but quickly grew to love DS. I've also been exploring Holbein Japanese made watercolors and wow, they're lovely. There's just so many lovely colors and brands, but I agree, there's something extra special about homemade and earthy pigments. I'm so glad you have many of them and love them. So good to hear! Thank you for watching and sharing with me, Araya :)
Lovely colours! Nice swatching. 🙏🏼✨🎨💕
Lovely colours and swatching! Thank you.
These are beautiful and I'm loving them! I can't wait to save up for my own set!
Thank you. Love home made paints.
Wow, gorgeous gorgeous colors
I enjoy that you appreciate your fans. I am one 😉😊
Pass at $12 per 1/2 pan... might be homemade.. but too expensive for the majority of dabblers! Easy to love them all when you get a $550 set for free!
I agree! These are at least double the price of Daniel Smith in tubes! Way too high.
@@SuzWarren Yeah.. I'm all for small independent folks trying to sell some watercolor paints as a side gig... probably brings them joy and a few extra spending dollars if they can get someone to buy them. But...hard to purchase when I can get artist grade (and known quality) paints at 1/2 the price! Insanity....
I love love love my deep deep light watercolors! As you said the women are incredible to work with. ❤️
Yes they are! 🌲🤍 glad you love them too!
I made it to the end! I found Natasha’s channel yesterday and then your channel popped up today. I find your voice very relaxing and soothing. Watching you and Natasha swatch helps me pick up some techniques, too, as a new painter.
I love that! I hope you enjoy both of our channels. I certainly love hers. And thank you for the kind comments about my videos. :)
Asmr amsr to my ears which ever way it's spelt. I love her voice too 😃
I love the look of these paints and follow Natasha Newton's RUclips channel - she uses these paints, and others, for her stunning work and I only wish I had sufficient funds to buy some of my own.
I'm so glad you follow Natasha too. She has some beautiful color selections. And I hear. Paint can be quite expensive. I hope you can eventually get your hands on some when the time is right.
I agree, I’ve sorta stopped watching some of the channels who use Deep Deep Light. I have plenty of Daniel Smith, Schminke, Sennelier, Qor, etc. but these handmade paints are beyond my budget. Handmade paints on Etsy don’t even come close to DDL’s price. Even with the discount code after shipping, it’s $15 for a half pan. I could buy a few pans if I REALLY wanted to but I genuinely feel like they’re overpriced & overhyped.
Love strawberry Rhubarb… anything 😂🤣🤷♀️. Pie, coffee cake 😋
Haha I love pie too. Never had strawberry rhubarb tho. Will have to sometime 😬
Thank you for watching the video!
Very relaxing video. :) I love a long swatching video.
Watching your color swatching of these watercolors, beautiful !, you mention rhubarb, is a sweet sugary fruit for pies, my dad used to grow when I was a little girl. Rhubarb, is the shape of stalks in red/green that I recall.
Beautiful selection Jackie! 😍 Loved listening to you and watching you swatch these beauties! ♥️
Aww Lily! You watched! Thank you! :) I enjoy your channel so much. I've binged quite a few the past two weeks.
You did great ~ it was better after you calmed down and quit trying so hard. Just be yourself and say what’s in your heart instead of what is scripted. I could tell that you were really nervous. It will get easier! I enjoyed watching!
Love your channel too Jackie! 🥰Your artwork is gorgeous and your voice and nature are both so soothing, peaceful and kind. ❤
🌲🤍 thank you Lily! Definitely want to provide my own aesthetic and vibe that brings me calm, and so glad I can share that with others and they can feel it too.
Rhubarb pie is dee-lishus!!!❤
These paints look amazing. Maybe I can afford them one day!
I hope you can get your hands on them sometime in the near future. Thank you for watching and spending your time with me.
@@JackiePeacock did you buy them from the actual website? They aren't made in the US, so I'm wondering how long it took for them to get to you
@DG-il5jq The shipping didn’t take long at all. I’m based in the U.S. and they’re in Northern Europe so I was surprised how fast it was.
Right now most of Northern Europe is celebrating Midsummer and they won’t ship their items out until June 27th. 🤍 If you reach out to them they are wonderful at responding to any questions.
love Deep Deep Light ever since I saw them featured on Lily Moon and Natasha Newton's channels. Gorgeous and so great they have a "build a custom palette" feature that doesn't add an extra charge to do so. Very nice handmade watercolor company to work with such a beautiful unique range of colors! Solstice Fern, Forest Pigeon, Gerda's Pink, and Prickly Pear...stunning! i need to try Juniper! Have had strawberry rhubarb pie, its tart and sweet.
Love that! I've been following Natasha for a long time now, and recently discovered Lily Moon! I love her swatching and sketchbook aesthetic.
Right?! I think having a custom palette is such a great and personalized idea. Juniper is such a good one.
😃👍 Excellent video, Jackie, and so relaxing to watch and listen to! Amazing colours by Deep Deep Light: those Latvian ladies are definitely creating magic! 😍 And those pebble swatches are fantastic, some even look like gemstones! (Definitely checking out Natasha Newton's channel 👌😁). 😊 It is so great to see a content creator sharing their love for another creator's content, and also supporting a small business. Well done, Jackie!👍Never had rhubarb (it is quite exotic in Spain 😉), but I've read it's really good and healthy. Oh, and about nighttime landscapes, I'm totally in favour! 😉👍Thank you so much, Jackie, and have a lovely weekend!! 🙏🥰🤗
Thank you so so much for watching and spending so much time with me! Swatching rocks has been so nice. Natasha does these beautiful pebbles which is what inspired me to paint rocks. I hope you enjoy her channel as much as me. And there's enough room for us all. Lots of people out there in the world ;)
I hope you get to try it one day. Me too, since I've yet to have it. I hear it's pretty good.
Thanks for the feedback on nighttime scenes!
😅 Jackie, I just realised that I mixed up words and said pebbles instead of rocks! 🤭 And there is, indeed, a substantial difference! 😂 Typical non-native speaker mistake! Again, thank you so much, and can't wait to see your next video! 😉🤗
Haha I think they are the same, really but don’t even worry about it! 🥰 I knew what you meant
These colors are amazing!
I know they're a bit pricey, but I love them so much. I hope you can get your hands on some.
Love learning about new paint colors and especially small business. BEAUTIFUL COLORS ❤!!! I get tired of all the same manufacturers. Thank you So Much 😊
Ooh me too! I’ve been on the hunt for trying out new materials. Love these.
What a well done swatching video of simply gorgeous paints!
We had a well established rhubarb patch when I was a little girl. We’d go outside with a little bowl of sugar, snap off a stalk of tart rhubarb and dip the end into the sugar. Grandma was known for her strawberry rhubarb pies.
We had rhubarb, too…mmmm😊
Thank you, Denise!
And what a lovely memory :)
I really need to try strawberry rhubarb pie!
I just made strawberry rhubarb freezer jam. So good! These are gorgeous colors! Yes, Fly would be awesome for rocks.
Oh you did?! Love that. I need to try it. Seems like a winner for many. Thank you for leaving a comment and for spending so much time with me. Quite a long video.
Wow!!! Beautiful paint colors. I will definitely have to check out this company.💕🌲🖌
I hope you do, Penny!! So fun!
Enjoyed the video! Would love to see your take on a night landscape 😊
Thank you!
And absolutely! Glad there’s interest 🤍
fascinating colors. very rich... Like it!
Right?! Love them.
Thank you for watching 🤍🌲
i've had rhubarb, :) had a plant in our garden when i was a kid. always had stewed rhubarb with custard or in an apple pie. i've even added a couple of plants to our garden now.
Ooh haven't heard of having it with apple. That sounds great! Thank you for sharing that with us. Very popular pie!
I loved it!
I love DDL, your video was relaxing tomwatch, thank you😊
I'm so glad! Thank you for spending your time with me, especially since it was such a long video.
You should read stories for both children and adults alike. Your voice is so relaxing and mellow 😃 great Swatch ♥️
Haha thanks!
Beautiful paint. Interesting descriptions.
Haha thank you! I struggled a bit on my wording, but hopefully moving forward with color description I'll be a bit better. Thank you for leaving a comment and watching. I appreciate your time!
Rhubarb pie is my favorite pie. I have made several.
So many comments on how good it is. I need to make this a priority to try now.
Beautiful paint colour ❤very nice video, thanks for sharing ❤fully watched 😍
Aww thank you!
Lovely swatches. I know both Natasha Newton and Lilly Moon love deep deep light. And both have made pallets with them. But your the first that really made them look interesting. But on top of my wishlist is A Gallo then theese may come lager….
Ooh I haven’t tried the A Gallo paints yet. Let me know what you think of them when you get your hands on some. I love both those channels. I’ve recently been enjoying all the swatching videos.
Excited to watch this, Jackie!
Aww that means the world! So love your content. You've kept me company many weeknights while painting :)
Hi
Love your video am doing done sketching of mushrooms whilst listening to and watching this.
I have had rhubarb and it’s delicious, rhubarb crumble, pie or fool are all yummy. It has a tart flavour so cook with sweetner or fruit juice. 😊
That sounds delicious!
Thank you so much. 🌲🤍 I’ve been painting a lot of mushrooms lately. They are hard haha not something I ever paint. Love them though.
I've been wanting to try these! I recently went on a search for excellent handmade watercolors and two stand out to me, DDL being one and Essee the other. I've already collected 3 different palettes from Essee and LOVE them. I know DDL is going to impress me as well.
I haven't experienced Essee paints, but have seen them and they look beautiful. DDL has been wonderful, especially if you love granulation. I hope you get to experience these paints and love them as much as I do.
I've never heard of these, but what gorgeous colours. I must buy some... Thanks also for the mention of Natasha Newton (also new to me). 😊
Too expensive..
Absolutely! She's great. :)
Fun relaxing video. I love relaxing talking in the background people can mute if they want! I too mercilessly edit out all ‘ummms’. The rock paintings are beautiful I’d love to try these paints someday!
Yes! Thank you! Love these kinds of videos. I appreciate the kind feedback :)
they look like precious minerals!
Beautiful colors, I also follow Natasha. These are too expensive for my pocketbook at the moment.
Another Natasha follower! Love it. And I totally understand.
I really like these long relaxing swatching videos including your desciptions of your impression of these gorgeous colours, so thank you so much for your efforts! I discovered DDL last year and have ordered twice from them - all their handmade colours are so special and kind of magical. I really adore them and the two owners are so nice as well. They answered all my questions so personally and lovely. So I really like to save up to get these special source of long lasting joy! 🎨❤️ By the way I also love rhubarb…😉
Thank you for the kind comment and so glad you like the paints, too. I know they are a treat, but what a treat they are! Do you have specific colors that are your favorite?
@@JackiePeacock There are many… but I especially love Rosehip, Night Raspberry, Dragon Fly and all their wonderful greens!
와우~ 너무 멋진 색감들이에요~ 👍
We love a rhubarb crumble with custard!
I definitely need to try it. People seem to love it!
I love these colors! What set(s) did you buy? I like the swatch idea of rocks, I'll have to try it too.
I selected a bunch of random colors, and then their team chose the rest. But I really love their Deep Forest, Nature by Nature, and Jay and Juniper sets. So pretty. You can see these online to get a feel for the color combinations.
These colors are gorgeous. I'm just wondering how light-fast they are. Glancing quickly through their website, I didn't see it mentioned.
That’s a great question and I forgot to mention that! Here’s the link to their colors and at the bottom they talk about the light-fastness.
deepdeeplight.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/DeepDepLight-catalogue-2024.pdf
You are definitely NOT annoying! You’re calm and talented!
Thank you for that
Did you pick all the colors or was this palette already curated? Yes I’ve had rhubarb pie. It’s very tart. And yes, I watched all the way to the end.
Love your video! These watercolors look gorgeous! I will buy some when I have the funds. I use crystals in energy work plus I have a passion for jewelry and gemstones. So, I was wondering if you could make your fantastic rock swatch available as a printout to use for whatever paints people already have. Even if you didnt want to offer it as a freebie, I would be willing to pay for it if offered. I hope you wil consider it. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much, Shauna!
Hmm I suppose it would be a pretty print. I'll have to think about that. Maybe a free download would be nice. Thank you for the interest and the idea. If you haven't signed up for my newsletter, this is where I would post things like this first.
nice
Beautiful but very expensive paints
Thank you!
you copied Natashas way of swatching
Oh no I'd hate to be accused of copying. I've been painting rocks for years, but was very much inspired because of Natasha and her lovely pebble swatching videos. I hope I gave enough credit to Natasha because she certainly inspired me. It's a wonderful and different way of showing off colors.
My apologies if I offended you. I very much respect others ideas, views, and their art.
That's what she said in the beginning of the video. Did you not watch the video?
There are only so many ways to swatch. I see many artists swatching like each other it’s ok. She’s not selling her swatch card
@@JackiePeacockyou gave enough credit don’t let such comments upset you
