Larry Graham was featured in Prince’s band for this intimate show at the Café de Paris in London on August 28, 1998. Prince and Larry had just got done co-producing the Graham Central Station album GCS2000 which came out on Prince’s NPG label and they performed this highlight from. The full performance found Prince joined by Chaka Khan, Doug E Fresh as well as Larry for a number of covers, rarities and medleys and was released on the 1999 NPG home video release Beautiful Strange.

These Cafe De Paris aftershow clips are giving me major flashbacks. Channel 4 and the Beautiful Strange evening of programmes... I must have watched that VHS a hundred times.
I'd been to the concert that night - my first time seeing him live after becoming a fan 4 years earlier - but couldn't get to the aftershow. It was my first of 36 times seeing Prince perform.
Seeing this aftershow on TV fueled that desire to see him over and over. The quest for the infamous aftershow never stopped!
36 shows since 1994? Wow. I guess you saw a lot of the 21 Nights in London gigs?
@@fransbuijs808 I have been very very lucky and I will always be grateful that I was able to see so many performances. 36 between 1998 and 2014. I did see a lot at the O2 - 11 concerts and 7 aftershows (the trio one was electric). I was also lucky enough to see much of the 2013/14 Hit n Run tour, Hop Farm, Montreux 2013, ONA 2002 and aftershow at New Marquee, and various others... Amazing times! Night 3 at Montreux 13 will always be a very special gig for me. He was on fire that week and to see him go full Guitar God was a longtime dream of mine. My only regret was his Piano & Microphone not coming to the UK. But I got a lot more than most fans so I have no complaints, only gratitude.

That's pretty cool. My score is 23 gigs from 1990 to 2011 with Paradiso 1995 and Melkweg 2011 (both in Amsterdam) and the North Sea Jazz concerts also in 2011 as the best. We were blessed!
@@fransbuijs808 Oh man, they're some great gigs! I think we in Europe got lucky. We welcomed him and he never left us out. We got great gigs that's for sure.
It still gets me every now and then, just out of the blue, that we'll never get to see him live again.
Seeing him in the SOTT Deluxe Remaster Bluray really shows us how great he was and what we were so lucky to have lived through. Many will discover Prince in the next years but we were blessed to be there in the moment.
Low riding with a guitar in ✋ is a special gift.

It's odd because Prince had a song called Free on the 1999 album. I thought that it was that song being performed when I first got the notification, clearly not.
