- This Avenger Bullpup .177 is awesome! We had a couple rainy days last week. It was a nice break from the summer heat but it also meant I couldn't go out hunting, so I decided to put together a review of the Avenger Bullpup .177 I custom built. This will be one of my go to guns for the foreseeable future!

This video convienced me. I need one. The .177 doesnt get the credit it deserves. Im looking forward to getting mine from you soon. Great video Aaron. I really think you are onto something here. Keep up the great work
I do love my .177. It shoots laser straight and I have added an AE Swede plenum trigger linkage and an AE Swede oversized plenum. I finally found a slug that it likes which is a 18.5 grain Varmint Knocker .1771 slug shooting at 935 FPS for 36 FPE and it hits hard. I have anchored every bird I've hit so far with those. Can't wait to go try them on Prairie dogs. The snow is just going up in Wyoming now so it won't be long.
@@AESwede Brother, trust me...Your audio is NOT that bad. Yes music gets extremely loud, but i have a finger and a volume adjustment right here on my note 20. Duh...dont hesitate to produce your videos for these lame reasons. Im truly inspirired by your channel and its content is for free. Start a subscription service. I'll be the first to sign up, as you do it now. Do your thing bro, screw the snowflakes😂.
@@AESwede the linkage and plenum is in my nightly dreams. Cant wait to get it.
The Avenger 177cal is the most underrated rifle out there.
But those who know, love it. 🎯
I agree fully. the .177 can penetrate like others can not and it is insanely accurate. I sold the rifle and have setup a bullpup .177 and added my AE Swede trigger sear tuner and the trigger is better than my FX Wildcat MK3. With my 44 round magazine I get way more shooting in before reloading and I have it tuned to 30 ft pounds of energy and I'm getting 80+ shot per fill with a long tube in place of the short bottom tube. This is my go too airgun for dairy farm hunting. We have even taken rock chucks with head shots with it and it did them in perfectly. I love this little bullpup for sure.
I totally agree about 177 vs 22 in hunting...my avenger bullpup kills EVERYTHING I AIM AT with 13gr zan slugs..what did you do to the transfer port? Thanks buddy.
Hey thanks for the comment. I need to try the Zan slugs in mine. You find they are accurate? Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. I did a slot port with a nice chamfer on the outside to open the port up without taking too much support for the projectiles.
Thank you for your video I have a 22 but I might just get a 17 for close range birds for like barns
This video and audio was excellent.
Wade thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Really liked your video on the 17 cal bullpup. I have a 22 cal dedicated slugger 500 cc with a plenum. I've been wanting a 17 cal just because these avengers are so awesome your video convinced me.Thanks
Hey Raymond, I am glad you watched the video and got some useful info from it. The Avengers are sweet rigs for the money and I love my bullpup. I did a slot port mod on the barrel and that helped with power. My .25 Avenger has a 580cc bottle on it with a plenum and that thing is a power house too. NSA slugs to pretty well through it. The .177 with a heavy projectile with go through anything in the way of feathers or skulls. We have shot rock chucks with head shots and it goes clean through. Love this little .177.
This year for shooting "sage rats" here is Eastern Oregon, I've stuck solely with my .177's. For shots under 20 yards my little Diana Bandit using 7.9 Crosman hp's. Then out to 45 yards my Diana Stormrider using JSB Hades, and then after that my farthest kill shot has been 124 yards (with bunches between 55 (my zero) and 82 yards) using NSA 15.5 slugs. In my Talon SS and 18" barrel, in fact I switched from the 16 gr Beast because I couldn't find them at my supplier. Next year I might switch back to the .22's......or NOT
The beasts are hard to find sometimes. I need to find a slug that this Avenger likes. Sounds like the ZAN .177 13 grain are working for people in the Avenger. I like to weight of the 16 grain beast though. I shoot house sparrows out to 100 yds pretty easily with it if the wind isn't too bad. This thing amazes me with it's accuracy and power. head shots on rock chucks go clean through. Flight feathers on any bird don't stop it or defect it. It just goes through. I have a new favorite after my .25 Impact.
Thanks for video, impressive!
Thanks for watching!
Mr. Swede, I love what You do! I have your AVA 22 cal. Avenger SideWinder magazine, tactical frame V1, threaded shroud adapter barrel nut, and your barrel band. All are top- notch upgrades (Badass) and I thank you for them! Would your trigger modification to the Avenger Bullpup work to improve the Avenger Rifle Trigger? Thank You thank you thank you!
The trigger sear tuner is nice on the Avenger rifle but it doesn't make the trigger easier to pull. In fact it makes it just a bit harder to pull but it takes all the creep out so the trigger is much more predictable. You can adjust the sear to just hold and break clean without any noticeable travel. It is however amazing on the Avenger bullpup. My .177 Avenger bullpup is my go to airgun for the dairy now and I have an FX Wildcat mk3. I take shots out to 100yds with relative ease with the Avenger .177 shooting 16 grain JSB beasts at 920 fps. 30 ft pounds of energy. House sparrows out to 80 yds are dead pretty easy now.
Awesome video man I really like the 177 cal I grew up shooting a 177 cal Benjamin you know the one with the wood stock you had to pump it up to about 8 pumps I guess the one I had I could see the pellets fly so I would just move over right or left to hit the dove or birds I was shooting at lol awesome 177 cal. Is a badass 😎 I wonder if someone out there is shooting slugs that are heavy like 20 gr to 28 gr or even 30 gr probably have to be a very modified gun thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍
I shoot 13gr zan slugs at 920fps...and its about 1.5 moa at 100 yards with the avenger bullpup
@@kansasairhunters2057 awesome 👌
Chris thanks so much for your comment. I know the old Benjamin airgun you are talking about. I think it was a model 397 for the .177 and it had a brass barrel believe it or not. They blued it to be black but it was a brass barrel and they were sure accurate. I had a .22 in the same airgun. Love that thing. There are a few people out there like Jim Walton that are shooting .177 with heavy slugs. He uses his on iguanas over in Puerto Ricco. iguanas are tough and it takes a lot to penetrate those skulls they have. the .177 is prefect for that. He is making 32 FPE with his RAW airgun in .177. I see something like that in my future. Take care!
Sorry the late reply. Work, family and machining airgun magazines has been taking too much time.
Do you have the barrel stabilizers/harmonics in the shroud from Terminator air guns and outdoors yet???
I don't. Not sure I need them as this thing is a laser already. I've been shooting it out to 120 yds and it amazes me. Have shot prairie dogs, crows, rock chucks and lots of birds with it. It just goes through them all.
@@AESwede gotcha. You should really lock that barrel down first with that kit. Barrel stabilizer and insert harmics discs in the shroud. I've witnessed first hand shots out to 175+ yards. And get the Terminador ATac A.R. stock and 450cc bottle kit as well. Its right on EBay he has it all for sale. Even the cool complete rifles! Look for Air Venturi Avenger parts on EBay and you'll find his stuff for upgrades. Terminador air guns and outdoors. You can even ask him about it and he can give you tips for shooting real long ranges. He also makes slugs for them too 100% No B.S.

Will you be Making any Magazines for A Benjamin
Kratos .22 ??
I have had just 2 of 3 request to make a magazine for the Benjamin Craftsman series airguns. For now I don't have any plans to make them but I could in the future sometime depending on how the demand is.
Try the JSB monster heavy diabolo 13gr redesigned or the non redesigned version.
I have tried those as well and they do great and shoot faster. I do like the JSB beasts 16gr and I shoot this little airgun out to 120yds and it's incredibly accurate with the beasts.
Do you guys know if I can get a sidewinder magazine for a Beeman 1358 22 caliber
I would try the zan 16gr or 20gr, also h&n 177 16gr and 20gr are available through pyramidair now. Or try the varmint knockers, he makes then in 15, 16, 18, 19.5. The 15gr shoot amazing out of my at44 and the 16gr zan slugs do as well, about 100fps slower than yours but consistent. I'm able to take down iguanas easily at 80yds.
I'll start looking into other slugs. I know the Neilson slugs don't like this barrel. Need something a little smaller diameter I think. The JSB 16 grain beasts are amazing through this thing. Would be nice to have a better BC but any .177 slug is going to be short and have a higher BC. Not as high as a pellet of coarse. As it is now house sparrows are pretty easy to hit at 100 yds if there is not too much wind. The .177 is prefect for penetrating through those iguana's. They are sure tough.
@@AESwede I know the zan slugs in 16gr have a bc of about .072 and they definitely carry that energy down range really well. The 13gr don't shoot that great out of my at44 pump, but the 15gr/16.5 xlhp varmint knockers, the 20gr nsa, all shoot great.
Hey Jean , how was the 16 grain h&n performing in your Avenger?
@@mathewm7157 I've shot them out of my at44 and I can't get them to group better than an 1" at 40yds. So i just have them sitting. They are shorter than the zans, due to having a tiny hollow cavity.
May i ask what ur reg + hs settings are for the jsb 16.2s?
I have done some work to the barrel port, transfer port, valve, and to the plenum roof on my Avenger .177 so I don't think my settings would apply to yours but it's a place to start. My reg is set at 2,700 PSI and the hammer spring was tightened all the way and then backed out until the speeds settled down. I was getting a fast shot at around 960 fps then a slower shot of 935 fps. Once I found the happy spot for the hammer spring to work best with the valve I have 924 fps almost every time so I can shoot it out to 100+ yds pretty easy on collared doves and pigeons. It took a lot to tuning and testing and a full tin of pellets but now it's an amazingly accurate airgun and I take it before I take my FX Wildcat MK3 .25
@@AESwede Thats alot of mods, it looks crazy powerfull for a .177. Awesome little gun you got there.
WHATS THE TRIGGER MOD SURE LIKE TO DO MINE
Hey Doug, the trigger mod is a small sear adjuster that I sell on my website. AESwede.com. It is inexpensive and really helps the Avenger bullpup trigger when adjusted properly. Easy to do and setup.
17? Please.....It's a .177. You will relate to, and have more respect from the airgun community if you call a 177 a 177, and not a (17).
Do you call your 22 a 218 or 217? Its at 17.
@@kansasairhunters2057. I call my.22 a 22 and my 177 a 177. What's that have to do with the price of eggs?
it'll always be a .177 to me. My 17 hmr is a 17. my .177 Avenger is a .177
@@AESwede. Yep, the "Kansas Air Hunters" have a lot to learn and growing up to do before they can run with us "big boys".
