- Instructions on how to clean any water bottle, especially those that have developed a mold. This really is the best way to get rid of mold and other grime. The only materials I use are vinegar and baking soda.

I know this sounds a bit strange BUT hear me out.
If you have one of those bottles where you cant get a brush into it, try adding raw rice and a tiny bit of water to the bottle and then shake/swirl it about. It removes the mould from the surface.
I soaked the bottle for a few minutes, drained it, added the rice and shook it about, drained out the rice and the water, then I followed this video and now my bottle is like brand new 💜
Thank you for this video! :)
I tried this and it’s amazing thank you
can this work on a moldy wooden lids?
I was taught this back in high school by Home Economics teacher.
@@xl6321 @X L I was taught this in high school from older peers cleaning bongs. Alcohol & raw rice + a shake = shiny glass bong. 😅
will this work on something that has a /particularly/ small opening? like a flask (ie, the ones used for alcohol, NOT a thermos or hydro flask). if not? is there another alternative? im kind of freaking out
Thank you!!! I got so grossed out that my flask had mold in it and I didn’t know what to do! Ty!!
Thank you so much, I was ready to throw my water bottle out but this was extremely helpful!! :)
Same
Thanks for that demo on cleaning molds from water bottles...I'll try it...reading comments help a lot too...
Thank you for being so complete
It worked! Thanks :)
I had already tried vinegar and didn’t want to use bleach because it says not to. The baking soda was my missing piece.
Great video, btw I didn't have a bottle brush so I added a few tablespoons of rock salt to your vinegar/baking soda mix, until I had a good salt slushie, then a 2 minute cha cha cha, and that provided all the abrasion needed to clean clean the inside.
Ooo thanks I'll try that
Thank you! I also don't have that kind of brush so this helps 😁
Putting table salt in with ice will also srub .....just swirl it around ....easy mode!
“2 minute cha cha cha” HAHAHA YES
Old Video but damn it works great!!! washed 2 bottles and they are both like brand new.... they didn't smell that good too... thank you!!!
This was extremely helpful, thank you!! :)
Thank you!
Thank you...I use a thermos to hold strictly ice and it started smelling a bit moldy, vinegar and baking soda was the magic touch 👌
Thank you for this video extremely helpful.
This is actually really helpful video with good instruction. Way better than though short videos nowaday.
Very helpful, thanks
Thanks, great demonstration... Even 5 years later!! Bravo!
thank you!!! this saved my water bottle
Any ideas on how should I clean an army water bottle canteen that has a small hole that is too tiny for a brush?
I approve
This sink is a dream... omg 😍 I miss my huge, porcelain sink at my old house.
That'll take some time to sink in but you'll be fine i guess.
visharad rawat omg is that a pun?? Cuz it’s punny 😂
@@royaleen7646 😅
thank you. I thought I was the only one having that problem and just using soap made it go away just for one use.
Since I don't white vinegar. Will apple cider vinegar works as good?
How do u clean the brushes afterwards?
Thank you!! I have a glass water bottle and no matter how much I clean it out it just seems to get worse. (Smells and there's a while film.)
and will it work on latex or rubber?? deeep black mould.
Will this work for plastic bottles too?
how do you get clear vinegar its brown????
That sink doh. 🔥
Rice is the best solution if you don’t have bottle brush. It scrubs the fungus that grew inside the bottle.
How should I use it?
What about spray bottles? When I use a spray bottle at least a couple of weeks it starts to smell like mold
I have one of those with a straw and sipping end with a cap over it and im struggling to get it clean and mould free.
You scrub it with the baking soda while the vinegar is still inside?
I tried to wash my bottle before I even watched this video, I cleaned it with hot water, baking soda, lemon, and soap. Then when I opened up my bottle and sniffed it after it dried it smelled so bad, I can't imagine what it would taste like. But I'll try out this tutorial to see the outcome.
Soap clumps when mixed with an acid like vinegar/lemon juice. And baking soda just neutralizes your acid. So you just cleaned with basically soapy water.
Update?
Thank you bro
You can scrub clean your stainless drain strainer with the same. Vinegar & Baking Soda are the best !
I use the same ingredients and i also use a piece of tinfoil to scrub the cup to remove the rust
very cool
Hi , put paper towel in the small opening bottle and use a utensil to rub it Round or tongs. Great job.
That black lid with the pop top grows mould inside the top cap underneath where its almost impossible to reach, i need a video showing how to clean that 😭
life saver ong
if i just use baking soda am i ok
or tooth paste?
i left a cup of water out for a while and i was about to move it and i noticed it had a small moldy part in it. it looked spiky and was black aswell. should i try to remove it? or would just washing it be okay?
I would remove it, wash, and disinfect 😌
I feel like I’m playing Wii with this music 😂 I’m not mad, it’s helping me focus
How to clean the lid with the straw?.How do you get inside the mouth piece?? Tyvm
Pipe cleaners work great.
Thank you for this video I have the coldest water bottle and every time I drink out of it I end up with an upset stomach despite washing it with boiling water and detergent
DETERGENT?! Maybe that’s why...you shouldn’t use detergent😭
@@KennediDiy Why not? :o
Is it ok if I used disinfectant wipes
Definitely okay though I don't know how effective it would be against mold though. Also be sure to rinse with water afterwards.
Thank you for the tips
The mold was really stained on the container, I only cleaned with dish soap. Will I be okay to use it?
If there was mold I definitely recommend vinegar to disinfect.
@@trgilmore1 okay thank a lot! I'll try that
and doesnt it make it taste disgusting after?
What about flip lids where I can't get to the hinges?
Sink them in vinegar then add a watery baking soda solution
will this work on a wooden jar lid?
I use the same method on wood but it will start to remove any finish that is on the wood
After cleaning my coffee cups, they leak. I have replaced the seals but it just seems like they leak now.( gaskets)
Over time vinegar will break down the silicone seals, so you don't want to expose them for too long and make sure you rinse them thoroughly when done. If you replaced the seals and they still leak I'm not entirely sure what could be causing that, I would check to see if there are any dings or warps maybe
Will a new tooth brush work?
Yes, although you may find it hard to scrub the bottom of the bottles well
Yaaasss thank you for this
Can’t you just put the lids in the dishwasher, in a reusable mesh produce bag so they don’t fall to the bottom of the dishwasher?
It's better to request them to throw cement and iron rod as well.
Can I just use vinegar?
You can get away without the baking soda most of the time but you do need some sort of brush that you can scrub the entire inside with, otherwise you'll have debris hang onto the sides and give a footfold for future mold and bacteria to grow faster
Tim Gilmore I appreciate it the quick response. I didn’t brush but didn’t have mold. Hopefully it’s all good
wena tim :)
now im no genious but wont that make it explode??? or something
thats called drier mix or paste like
bro what is this music? this is fire
Salt and water then shake shake shake. The salt disinfects too.
How good does salt work?
@@kebabelain4969 Really well! Its abbrasive but only mildly so it cleans the inside and salt is antiseptic so kills germs.
will appleside vintage work lol
Apple cider vinegar should work but it is slightly less acidic than regular vinegar so I might let it soak a little longer just to be safe
I got one flat water bottle and don’t know how to clean it because the brush can’t fit 😭😭😭😭
There’s brushes at the 99 cent store or daiso that can reach the bottom. They’re like 1-3 dollars
i tied a washcloth to a stick 🤧🤧
hahahah try tying a hankerchief at the end of chopstick? I stopped buying bottles, takes time to clean. I use only thermos cups.
8:05 that’s what she said 😂
I don’t have the supplies but thanks anyway :/
man i don’t have baking soda
wtf is a ramikin?
😅😅
I soaked the silicone overnight in baking soda and vinegar. It's still moldy:(
Try soaking in bleach then wash the bleach off completely or risk poisoning
@@lucasdelgado4916 Thanks! Will try it soon! We have the same family name😁
@@jhudielvincentdelgado79 hey how did it turn out?
@@1gks unfortunately, it didn’t work hahaha
I didn’t realize there was potential mold in my water bottle I just noticed black dots all over the bottom!!! Am I going to die I’m so worried with how long it’s been there and I’ve been drinking it!! Pls someone help has anyone else drank from a potentially moldy water bottle😭😭😭
You'll most likely be fine, my water bottle has built up loads of black gunk because I haven't cleaned it in months. I know that sounds gross but I haven't died or gotten sick yet, and trust me when I say it's not the first time I've ignored black gunk on my water bottle for months 😅😅
i will try it now on my nipples
