Peter, thanks for the class. I just purchased a 2021 Tundra SR5 5.7. I learning this vehicle after 28 years in my old 95 Silverado. It's a gas hog, but if you want to play you got to pay. So far it's the best truck that I've owned. I love it. I plan to spend more time on your channel...

Very informative. I’m going to replace my timing belt on my 2002 v6 this spring and this will help me get started. Once again. Thank you for the information.

Thank you for clarifying this Toyota V6,V8 numbering standard. My previous Toyota was a V6 and I did a double take when I found out from the service manual that my Tundra's 5.7 had number 1 on the, right from the engine front or drivers side. Changing plug wires etcetera can get nasty by guessing or assuming.

hello, thank you for the video! I am wondering how could we know that cylinder 1 is on TDC in the compression stroke if we do not have the valve cover opened to check the timing marks aligned.

Excellent. Can the timing chain be installed with the main pulley mark set to 10deg and the second set of timing marks on the cam's? I saw a video where they did this because they were having a hard time holding everything still at 0deg TDC, so they just rotated the marks 10 deg to a more stable position. I don't remember the exact engine.

Thanks Peter-but on your video at the start for the 6cylinder I think you said (passenger side) for cylinders 1,3,5 as passenger side? That would be driver side yes? Thanks for the vids 👍🏼

Passenger side means to the firewall , drivers side is to the front

So the timing marks don't have to align with the colored chain links?

No, the painted chain links are for re-assembly if all the chains have been removed. If you turn the engine enough times you should eventually get all the marks and painted chain links to line up, but it would take a long time to do that and isn't necessary.

Thank you Peter. I'll stick with engine oil changes and engine air filter and cabin filters on my 2grfe v6 Toyota. I can't believe Toyota is putting the 2grfe on the shelf to be replaced by the turbo. I'm not familiar with the turbo. I guess it would require more air filter and oci every 3k miles. Hope you did have to much bad weather. California might need to raise gas prices along with New York. Feel like the average working person is feeling this along with inflation in their wallet.

The cylinder closest to the front of the motor is always #1. The front of the motor is the side with the crank damper. The intake plenum shows the order.
