easily the best tutorial!! so many tutorials have links to a pattern they’re selling and it’s not very helpful when u don’t have said pattern. also so efficient and intentional! thank you for sharing!
I have been looking for a bloomers pattern to approximate a RTW pair I have seen with a very lightweight satin fabric and shirring at the waist/leg … this is just what I am after and will be easy to adapt. Thank you so so much for providing such clear and concise instruction!! ⭐️😍
This is brilliant! After watching the lolita style for some years and having just a couple of shirts, I've finally decided to start sewing my own ouji lolita pants and shirts. This tutorial is brilliant for just that. I just need to get some practice. Thanks for sharing! Subscribed!
joiski Your very welcome! I also just got into lolita, I'll probably make some more tutorials in the future. Thanks for your support and watching my videos! :D
Hi Sasa - your tutorial was excellent! I had to make a pair of bloomers for a costume and being an amateur sewer working off of a pattern was overwhelming.....then I came across your tutorial last night and just finished making my first pair of bloomers! Thanks for your very thorough instructions. Your tutorial was perfect!! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for this tutorial . I need to make 2 bloomers , 1 for a 6 yrs old and other for 8yr old for dance competition . Could you possibly tell me how much material i need and sizes i need to cut them out please ? Im guessing you pattern measurements are for a lady and i dont know where to start love . I need to make them this fri 8th march and would really appreciate your help and knowledge as im a brand new not knowledgable sewer . Hope you can help me on sizes . Thank you .
I need to make these for a show and I have to say the way you explained the whole process was so helpful to someone who learns in the way that I do. I'm so glad I have found your channel.
Hello! I love your tutorial! :D I was wondring, what measurements do you have? and which measurements would you recommend to your bloomers (if we use the same measurements ass the tutorial)? :D
For Halloween this year I'm going to be the Gender-Bent version of Laughing Jack, and I'm going to make a pair of bloomers, like this to wear under my tutu. Thanks for the tutorial!
Really cute. I would have never thought to have done the bottom hem to ruffle that way. What type of fabric would you suggest best for bloomers? I've made some out of some just regular white cotton, like you'd use for linings and then were meh (and kind of see through too, lol).
Thank you you've made this look so simple. I'm away at the moment staying in an old Victorian Mansion (in the servants quarters though) on the Isle of Man. One question if I may. I have a huge Brodier Anglais table cloth at home (? On spelling lol) how would I line these? Also I'd love to make a matching cami type top as PJs when home. Do you have a tutorial that would match up please? I really need easy and work better with visual rather than print patterns. I love the idea of the longer bloomers. Thank you 🥰
Hi Sasa! I love the tutorial and I'm so inspired I want to make my own. I have a question though, I need to buy a sewing machine before I can begin but I'm not sure what kinds of stitching I need to use and I don't want to buy the wrong machine. Any suggestions on a decent beginner machine-that will allow me to create the bloomers-and what kind of stitching do I need to use?
I don't know where you live but, basic sewing machines are easy to find. There are fairly cheap ones at Wal-Mart that have basic functions (straight, zig-zag, buttonhole features) that are perfect for beginners.
so excited to try this pattern!! i want to start making my own underwear. i have issues with store bought. how do you make the inseam curves? is there a trick to get the curve right? thank you!!!
I am still very new at sewing and I am a slow learner. So, how exactly do you determine how much fabric you need? If your waist is 45 inches around, then is that how many inches you buy in width? I just want to ask and get a solid understanding.
Felicia Marie You can still make the bloomers in the same way, your elastic for the waist will be 45 inches. About 1 meter of 45 inch width some be good.
I'm curious about the lengths. At the start you say that the cherry ones are about 48 inches but then at the end you said the white ones were quite a bit longer, around 30 inches in length. Am I misunderstanding, or was that misspoken by you? The cherry ones are about the right length for what I need so I want to be sure that I get it right. Also, I plan on making these for a cosplay piece - Ms. Joke from BnHA. Since finding a cheap fabric that is striped like that is going to be pretty difficult, I was going to paint the stripes. Would you recommend doing this before or after they're sewn?
Aurora Newman Hi, I would recommend painting beforehand if you absolutely must paint the fabric. I have painted stripes on entire dresses before, and let me tell you: it looked great, but I would NOT recommend it. Please spare yourself the torture of measuring each stripe out perfectly (and the expense - fabric paint isn’t cheap) and look for the best striped fabric that you can online. If you HAVE to paint it, you gotta do what you gotta do... but I really encourage that you try to find available fabric instead. There are many stores online to search from, and most provide swatches that you can purchase to make sure it’s the fabric you want! Good luck with your cosplay ventures!
Sorry I can't remember. It depends on how baggy a look you want. but for comfort, at least 5-8 inches bigger. This pair is probably a lot bigger than that though.
great tutorial! but if i want to make them shorter, almost like adult "diaper covers" (to hide panties when wearing short skirts ), where do i make it smaller when tracing the template, without losing the ruffles? lenght or width?
Love this tutorial! Thank you for making it! With your "crotch" pattern I understand how you got the length measurement (i.e. 14 on your pre-made pattern for back side), but don't know how you determined your width measurement (2 1/2 on your pre-made pattern). I know the length of my front and back...but don't know how to determine the width.
Cute! Could lengthen them to wear under hanbok. Speaking of which, are u still making hanboks? I need one for an event coming up. If u say yes, I'll email u later to get/give info...
I have been wanting to make bloomers for ages! Have you ever made them with cotton ties instead of elastic? Like they were traditionalist made. I am going to try, and do lace instead of a ruffle on a second pair ❤️ Thanks so much
No I have not made them with cotton ties. But it is easy to do. You can leaving an opening in one of the seams (front or side) or make buttonholes. Have fun.
Hi, Idk if you'll reply since this is an old video, but I was just wondering how I'd take measurements to make sure that making these they'd fit me? I'm on the bigger side and new to sewing so I'm not sure how to make adjustments
Hi, yes it's been a long time and I have changed some of my methods. But you need to measure your thigh and the fabric needs to be at least 1.5 times wider, so it can have that baggy/gathered look. Also check your hip measurement. The 2 thigh/leg pieces need to be bigger than your hips. hope this helps, good luck with your sewing project!
omg this tutorial was so helpful, thanks so much! I'm a total sewing noob and everything was so easy to understand and I couldn't find a good pattern that I'd understand so I'm super grateful for this tutorial, thanks so much you did such a great job!
how many times wider than your waist do the two rectangles need to be? (in order to get it baggy enough) I'm a great deal bigger and I need to know how much fabric to use.
I know this video is like 10 years old, but they way you explained everything was SOOOOOO helpful 🫶🏻 thank you
Using paper as the example is genius and so much easier to understand thank you!🎉
This is the best bloomer tutorial I've seen. Thank you!!!

Very similar to what I am doing. Making bloomers to go under a tutu for a Halloween costume of Pennywise.
i love this tutorial its my favourite for bloomers and easiest to understand for me!
I'm so glad!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I made a pair and they turned out great!

Excellently done, thank you!

Just bought some sewing elastic so I can do this :3 I have lots of cute fabrics and ribbons that would make good bloomers.
Awesome, have fun sewing :)

Super cute!
I Love this.... Thank you. I look forward to more of your videos
You're welcome :)
Thank you!! Great instructions!
thank you! i love it!
Those are so cute! How much wider did you go from your hip measurement?
Sorry I can't remember. It depends on how baggy a look you want. but for comfort, at least 5-8 inches bigger. This pair is probably a lot bigger than that though.
@@_Sasa_Time thank you for replying ❤️
Great video!!
How many meters of fabric would I need for this?
Very thorough tutorial!
+Alisa Chhan Thank you!
great tutorial! but if i want to make them shorter, almost like adult "diaper covers" (to hide panties when wearing short skirts ), where do i make it smaller when tracing the template, without losing the ruffles? lenght or width?
To make them shorter, you can reduce the inseam (inner leg length) amount.
Love this tutorial! Thank you for making it! With your "crotch" pattern I understand how you got the length measurement (i.e. 14 on your pre-made pattern for back side), but don't know how you determined your width measurement (2 1/2 on your pre-made pattern). For the width, I used the width of my fabric which is 45". I hope that answers your question.
How did you determine the measurements for the crotch?
+Jo dasom Mmm best is to base it off another pattern or a pair of pants.
@@_Sasa_Time How would you determine what it is on another pair of pants?
☺
❤
im newish at sewing and im having difficulties with elastic. i was thinking maybe using elastic thread. would that work??
115krusher Yes it can work, but for a beginner I think the method I showed is easier than elastic thread or shirring.
Cute! Could lengthen them to wear under hanbok. Speaking of which, are u still making hanboks? I need one for an event coming up. If u say yes, I'll email u later to get/give info...
Yup, that could be done as well. Of course I still make them. Send me an email, or visit my facebook page to see the ones I currently have. Thanks!
How do you calculate the crotch curve?
Omg you look like Alexandra Stan look her up and hi sassa
larry barton Hi Larry! I don't think I look like her...
Hey Sasa! I wanted to know if you could do a tutorial on the snsd "run devil run". You don't have to but I would love see if you could
Ahh that's a good song :)
What are your seam allowances
That's such a cleaver way of showing it
they are not puffy shorts or under wear, they go over your undergarmets, but otherwise this is a great video
No, bloomers are undergarments!
I have been wanting to make bloomers for ages! Have you ever made them with cotton ties instead of elastic? Like they were traditionalist made. I am going to try, and do lace instead of a ruffle on a second pair ❤️

Currious how to do the center crotch peice that an antique pair I had was made with that kept them from getting in the crack.
Hello, I don't quite understand your question. Could you explain further?
Did you ever discover the technique? I was wondering if it was cut in similar format to the harem pant crotch.
Hi, Idk if you'll reply since this is an old video, but I was just wondering how I'd take measurements to make sure that making these they'd fit me? I'm on the bigger side and new to sewing so I'm not sure how to make adjustments

I would say about 2 times bigger than your waist.
Why inches why! Use centimetres for heaven's sake.
+RawrCrazyTsuki My apologies, I work in inches.
It's totally fine (I'm just too lazy to use my brain haha). Btw nice work on these bloomers! They look adorable!
+RawrCrazyTsuki Thank you! I use a measuring tape that has inches and centimetres so it makes it easy.
