This is exactly how all the skirts I've bought in Japan are structured! Watching in anticipation of my sewing machine that I will own one day in the future! ☺️
You could sew all of this by hand! It takes a lot longer but the seams will actually be stronger! Lots of tutorials online from vintage clothing enthusiasts. All it costs is the needle and thread as opposed to having to buy the full machine. Just a suggestion.
This is such a good video, thank you so much for this!! The instructions were super clear, even for an absolute beginner like me. There's other videos out there that cut parts of the progress and make it seem a lot more intimidating than it is. Thanks again, I also loved your setup and introduction! Everything's so dreamy. ✨💕😭
Aw, thank you so much!!! 😭💕 Your comment is really encouraging! And I'm so glad this was helpful for you and was easy to follow. I hope to make more videos like this in the future!
You have patience! That elastic part has been driving me crazy! I'm hoping to finish up my first skirt tomorrow. Thanks so much for the informative video!
Yeah, that step is a bit tricky. Keep at it, you got this! 👏 It makes me so happy to know that this video is helping others. I wish you luck with your project! 💕
my brain could never compute how to do the elastic part along with using a side zip. thank you so much for explaining it! i'm going to make this skirt as soon as my fabric arrives :D
Watching this entire video fully knowing I’ll probably lose motivation to actually do this (especially since I’m pretty inexperienced) I want to make something custom for prom, but idk if I can pull it off. Either way I really enjoyed watching the video regardless, it was so soothing and satisfying and I love what u made!
This was such a great tutorial, you are a great teacher! This is my first project ever with my sewing machine. the fact I actually got a skirt at the end is incredible, considering today was the first time I’ve ever sewing a garment in my life. I most certainly have you and this video to thank for that! I have been watching tutorial after tutorial for weeks now, just to get a gist of which one I actually wanted to try out. Most other super beginner friendly tutorial videos out there are for things that don’t really suit my style (Frankly, plain old circle skirts and camisole tops bore me to death!). This was a lifesaver! I’m super excited to make more of these with different trims, colors, etc…
You are hilarious and very relatable! I went to school for fashion design and you said several things that I have just forgotten and that will make my life so much easier. I need to start using interfacing again
Thank you so much for sharing this! I'd love to see a future video maybe on how to do waist ties and/or the tiered ruffled layers that you see on a lot of Lolita skirts! I'm a newbie at sewing but this has inspired me to try it! Can I ask where you find your pretty fabrics?
THANK YOU!!! I CANNOT SAY THIS ENOUGH I HATE ZIPPERS! I had a baby and I love skirts but my size changed soooo much 😩 this is soooo helpful. my last elastic skirt was just not great
I apologize if I missed it, but how long should the elastic be? Thank you for sharing this video! I feel less intimidated and might try making some skirts now! ♥
You’re so amazing! I love your sewing tutorial and I hope that you continue to make more video’s as you are so talented and have enjoyable content. 🌸💜🥰
Thank you! It took me several tries and to get the hang of zippers. They are tricky! I didn't go into much depth about it in my video, so if you are still struggling, other tutorials specifically about zippers are super helpful ❤
Just started my Lolita journey, got recommended this video and found it really helpful. Are there fabrics I should avoid using while making Lolita fashion? Or fabrics that work better than others?
I’m so glad this video was helpful! You can make lolita clothes out of most any fabric you want! I personally recommend starting with cotton fabrics as that is a very beginner friendly material. Cute prints, especially border prints will work great for lolita style! You can also add things like lace, pockets, aprons, waist ties, embroidery, etc. to make it extra cute and extra you 😊
As far as specific fabrics to avoid, I would stay away from using anything that has stretch to it. You want a fabric that can hold the shape/silhouette of lolita.
I really love this tutorial so much! The one with altering skirts was also very helpful! Looking forward to more tutorial content! (the fabric is so beautiful btw! i guess it's not available anymore, is it?)
Aw, thank you so much! I found the fabric on Etsy a few years ago and I’m pretty sure it’s a vintage print 😕 might be hard to find more of it but it’s possible!
I found it on Amazon years ago! I'm not sure if it is still on there 🤔 you can find similar blouses on websights like Devilinspired.com or secondhand on Lacemarket.com
The zipper keeps the elastic from giving out over time from putting it on over and over and the elastic gives you extra room so it's not sitting tightly on your waist or hips. Over all it's for comfort. ☺️👍
It's Very Cute!! I want to be a Lolita Fashion designer too when i grow Up Since Ever since i watched your videos i want to sew Lolita Clothing Like You!! And I hope it's Okay to ask Questions cause here's One! - 1.Does Sewing Lolita Fashion Clothes Requires Hard Math? Because i'm Not Good At Math? And Is It Okay to Rely on a Caculator All The time To Make Lolita Clothings? 2.Is it Hard To Make Lolita Clothings? 3.And Last How Do I Become Succeful Lolita Designer When I Grow Up? Because I'm Afraid it'll be hard for me But I really want to reach my dream? I'm Only 11 years old And I Loved to be a Lolita One day And Sew Lolita Clothes!
@@itschubbybunny6104 ok well thats an issue because that means it is too high and of course it would break. i assumed u were sewing at like... 2 or something. what fabric are you using?? fabric can snap if its too high or too little. and is there a specific machine u use.

Nicely done, the pink in the skirt matches well with the hair bow.

Started today! just measured and cut. Had to cut two of each panel cause my cotton fabric ended up being a little sheer. Will update as i keep sewing!
Hi there! I finish my skirt today and it turned out beautiful 😍. Thanks to you. I’m definitely going to be making more skirts. 😊
I'm so happy to hear it! 👏😃

This skirt is darliiiinnggg I'll definitely be trying this, is there a specific petticoat I could wear with this? Or shape of petticoat?
Yay! This skirt works well with any standard cupcake or a-line lolita petticoat 👍
Looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing, from Taiwan.

@@fairyannechannelThank you so much for that hint! I screenshoted the fabric in the video and was able to find it on etsy via reverse image search! 😲
im not understanding how long the elastic needs to be for the waist band? is it just your waist measurement?
Yes 👍
When we do the measurements for the skirt do we add seem alliance also ??
Hi, are you wearing a petticoat under the finished skirt in the end?
Yes, I am! It's a simple a-line lolita petticoat
Am i the 1000th subscriberrr???? 💗
I think you were!!!! Thank you so much for subscribing! ☺💖

May i ask where you got the blouse you are wearing? It's super pretty
I found it on Amazon years ago! I'm not sure if it is still on there 🤔 you can find similar blouses on websights like Devilinspired.com or secondhand on Lacemarket.com
@@fairyannechannel thank youuu 😊
I dont have an elastic for the waistband. But i have elastic thread that I can use to make a shirring. Will that work?
Oh yes! Shirring is a great option 👍
@@fairyannechannel thanks
Hello beautiful skirt so is it 2 rectangles that are 39 inches long each making it 78 inches all together??
Correct 😊
i have that exact blouse lol
Can I do this from elastic fabric?
Where did you get your fabric from?
It is vintage fabric that I got off of Etsy 😊
Why add elastic if you're gonna use a zipper anyway? Or just use elastic so you don't have to use the zipper. Why use both?
The zipper keeps the elastic from giving out over time from putting it on over and over and the elastic gives you extra room so it's not sitting tightly on your waist or hips. Over all it's for comfort. ☺️👍
Did you make the blouse too or bought?
I bought the blouse 🌸

Idk what I'm doing there ;_;
so you’re basting the fabric. Put the length on the highest and you just sew two straight lines! Then after she shows you to gather it.
@@LittleKoneko my thread keeps snapping when i pull on it tho, and I'm pulling very gently.
@@itschubbybunny6104 that means theres not enough tension, so you have to sew with a higher tension!
