  • I flew Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from London Heathrow LHR to San Francisco Airport SFO, on board their 787-9 Dreamliner.
An 11-hour journey leaving at 12.35pm and arriving at 3.45pm (yay, timezones...), this was not only the longest I'd ever flown but it was by far the greatest experience I've had travelling.
This was very much a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I'm very grateful to my family for the opportunity to experience this.

The coffin suite! Such a strange layout. The new Upper class suite is going to be a bit more comfortable and less odd in the layout where you feel like you’re sticking out into the aisle the whole time

Very nice. I’m from California, living in Yorkshire for the last 14 years.. looking to do that same flight in the near future. Thank you so much for sharing! 🍻🍻😊

The LHR ground experience on Virgin Upper is second-to-none and nearly worth the price on its own. Even more so back in the days where some of the fares included a Chauffer driven car that came to pick you up. However, these seats just don't appeal to me at all to be completely honest. They're awkward and cramped and just not that appealing. They lack privacy and you're laid out in what can only be described as a row of "coffins". Its a design Virgin seem to have stuck to for years, for reasons I don't fully understand really. This was a great video though to show what its like. There certainly are better business class seats out there - but very few lounges that come close to the Virgin Clubhouse. That is a world-class lounge done right.

Thanks for watching - totally with you on the lounge! On the plane, the seats were awkward to begin with but what I will say is that I’m so glad we were on the left side. From where we were, because we were facing the back of the middle row seats (essentially a divider), I lost the sensation of facing inwards after a while, especially when I put the seat down for a bit. Those on the right side definitely looked more exposed.

I agree the seats were very coffin like...my seat was 11K and was awful. Lounge at Heathrow was great. Service on my overnight flight from London to Johannesburg for me was good but food not good at all.

Hi there, great video, you seem to have got the balance right with what you need to show people. I have a question for you that I hope you can answer. We are off to the Maldives on virgins new direct route in December. We are actually in the same 3 seats you were in. Whats that last seat like, im worried about people sitting at that bar being loud and annoying, also the toilets being near, people hanging around waiting to use them chatting loudly in the night when we are trying to sleep.....great vid. Cheers Steve.

I sat in the seat 11K and it was not good at all. Very loud and noisy around service times. That seat should not be sold.

I just took this plane on April 30, 2023 and sat in 6A. (Always choose the "A" side if you can!) Don't like the seats and now that people mention coffins, it's making me hyperventilate! However, I thought the food was quite good on this flight. Great video. Cheers!

Those chairs suck hard. Only good thing is the bar, much prefer the new Neo ones.

We want more of the plane facilities rather than the face of the video maker

I keep watching videos of people on flights with this layout of seating. We're going to be on one of these...and it looks like the stupidest design I've ever seen. Let's all smell or knock against people's feet as we're walking by in the aisle. If you're not very tall...do your feet even REACH the footrest? If you're exceptionally tall (as one of our party is...standing 6' 5"...will your feet stay contained upon the footrest or will they hang over unless you bend your knees to shorten yourself? Let's be unable to look out the window unless we turn our neck until we get a crick in it. I am SO not looking forward to this "Upper Class" flight on this plane. 10 hours from San Francisco to London. WHO designed this??
