Had my first crash today on the M2 Explore. I clean-cut the tail boom during a tic-toc maneuver. Fortunately, the wires are still in tact. Thank goodness for this video! We decided that we are only going to buy RC helicopters that you have already done a repair or build video on! We love your channel! 🙂
Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate it! Keep learning and flying helis! You are getting good, the M2 is a fantastic heli. Super easy to work on and parts are very cheap!
I replaced mine with a 9mm anodized drinking straw. I also have the eachine e180. The whole tail boom/motor mount/motor is heads and shoulders over the omp. Its 9mm so i ordered a helidirect hd ripper (eachine e180) tail motor and motor mount, reveresed the polarity of the motor, mounted the mount upside down, with the motor on right side, and flipped the tail rotor. Now shes ready for the trex hughes 500 fuselage clone from aliexpress and looking pretty. I mounted the boom on the body by drilling a 9mm hole in the mounting block with a bench mill. Then i saw microheli has a round boom mount, but as a kit, im betting its 9mm, but not sure. Just to ramble on, the eachine and hd ripper tail motor is 4 screw mount so the omp wont fit the mount.
23:00 WARNING, do not over tighten the tail blade screw! I can speak from first hand experience that the tail blade will catastrophically explode in mid air under heavy tail load maneuvers!!!
So unfortunately you have to pull the motor wires loss at the ESC and pull the wires though the boom, I recommend getting the M1 EVO tail motor and fin so you don’t have to pull it al apart again when it breaks.
How hot does your tail motor get? I must of flew 20 packs this afternoon in my m2 and noticed the tail motor warm and it ran cool before as far as I know ..just put a pack in it and hoverd it outside tonight for 2 minutes and it was just as warm as I would of flew all day.. it wasn't hot but just warm
20 packs is a lot though any motor at one time. It gets slightly warm after 6 packs or so. Never gets hot but I only put 6 flights on it at a time. Any more then that it’s a little much for any motor.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 it would get warm after every flight but not real bad .its got to do with the esc firmware being off time.. something is causing it could be a tweaked shaft in the main or horizontal the ESC has a firmware down loaded in it to run a certain way and if something is inhibiting it from doing so,it will cause the brushless motor to heat up . something I seen in the drone world before..as far as the FC being locked ..there is a lot of things you can't change..if I want to run a different firmware ,or change my roll rates I can't ..theres hundreds of things .. like your beast x system you use in your big helis or have you. I also have race drones and there's a lot you can do with a computer to make them run different.not just count blinks on a flight board
@@westhobbiesrc8051 maybee they will have something better the next version ,but trust me the technology is there and it's limitedly locked ..but I want to be able to hook this thing to my computer and play ..alot of people are having motor heat issues after crashes ,I'm reading .
Hahahahaha!!! You’re just like me when it comes to saving parts. I have boxes of broken parts that I’ve said: “I think I can fix that” 🤣😂 (The black mechanic looking at Michael J Fox’s wrecked Porsche in “Doc Hollywood”)
😂😂 I will definitely save parts if I think I’m going to fix them and or use them but if I know that I will never fix and or use I tossed them lol But with carbon fiber it is super easy to fix which I actually glued it together after this video and came out decent. I wrapped it in vinyl and it doesn’t look bad at all so it is on the shelf as a spare part now!
Good evening Mister West,
I learn very usefull things every time I watch one of your videos!
Thank you, Jeff!
@@Willybrordus Thank you! I greatly appreciate that! I’m glad these videos are helpful
Thank you for making these videos. you make crashing my M2 not a big deal anymore
You’re welcome! I’m glad the videos are useful and helpful!

Xcellant video.Watched the whole thing start to finish. Thanks much!
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. I. Glad the video was helpful!
The M2. Such a wonderful bird!! Flies magically!
I told you! Incredible heli!
Would be better if they gave us full control of the flight board tho..there's a lot we cant touch:(
What is there that you can’t touch? It is fully programmable. You can adjust everything you need to.

Yes it will! Also loctite will make the blade come apart as well. OMP has always had a weak/soft plastic tail blades.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Who do you recommend for aftermarket main and tail blades for the S1 and S2?
Any suggestions on replacing tail fin on omp m1, looks like I need to disconnect the motor some how in order to slide tail fin off boom

@@westhobbiesrc8051 what about the connector at the end of the wires, does that need to be cut off
@@donaldcoburn1576 no, you can pull it though the boom.
Thanks for this Jeff!
Of course! I want to help with what ever I can so I enjoy doing these videos!
without cutting tail motor, still can replace or not?
The wires got cut in the crash. It’s easier if the wires do not get cut but yes you can still replace the boom

What's the driver? Just a 1.5mm hex driver?
Yes 1.5mm driver
