Fantastic Vid, very thorough and clear language, thanks Freddie. Just bought V1 Evo, concerned about limited information contained in instructions/manual, specifically fact that FBC LED flashes when switching to stunt modes. None of the other vids I've seen explains this. Cheers Ted
Thank you so much for this video! It helped me so much. It's the first video I saw that covers the pitch and explained speed vs agility. My M1 was crazy pitching and pitch sensitive. Thank you! Matt
Sweet !!! Thanks for this! I am getting an opentx radio as it will give even more control over the flybarless system. Also now has telemetry options when using opentx . Cheers
Hi Freddy, I was lucky enough to receive the above heli for christmas! Have had roughly three flights so far but not really liking the way it flies and could do with some help on how I could possibly adjust one or two settings to improve things.. The two most apparent problems/areas of concern are: 1. The pitch range - as you mention in your video, it seems incredibly twitchy and responsive! Too much so. 2. Quite the opposite of point 1, I find the elevator and aileron responses really 'mushy' particularly around centre sticks. Basically the cyclic speed is very slow. In my radio set up I have 0 expo on elevator, aileron and rudder. Throttle curves are: 0,25,50,75,10 (on normal), 60% flat on IU1 and 75% flat on IU2 Pitch curves: 45,50,50,75,100 on normal, 0,25,50,75,100 on IU1 and IU2 Would be most grateful if you or anyone could guide me on how to sort these 2 issues out. Many thanks
Great video and description, thank you. Just one question, is it necessary to adjust all travel in the radio to 100% before continuing - like with other FBL units I have used? I am using Spektrum 9 with Spektrum sat.
Great video, really helped me make sense of the manual. I'm getting slight up and down tail bobbling in the hover. Will adjusting the elev gain help. If so which way up or down
If you are getting bobble in all three RPM modes then try loosening your main blades before adjusting your gain. Also try using 60 flat normal, 70 flat idle 1, and 80 flat idle 2 for your throttle curves. Its a good starting point but the bobbles can be from main blades also being to tight at certain rpms ranges.
What I didn’t notice is when you’re playing around with the pitch you either have to take the landing gear off or level the heil. The Landing Gear pictures the Heli down in the front and it is substantial when you’re playing around with pitch.
Mr Freddy, A lot of times when I watch videos when they start up I think to myself oh my God this is going to be another wack one. However, I'm making it a habit to tell people if they do a good job on their videos or not. I can't stand videos that are 20 or 30 minutes long with only 2 minutes of useful information in it. If I'm going to watch a video that long all the information has to be useful. That's exactly what this video was man good job! I'm brand new like literally brand brand new to this helicopter RC world this is my first helicopter ever and this was the first good video that I seen that tells me about the settings and even what some of the controls on the helicopter actually do. I am having a little bit of drift to the left when I start to take off and some of my servos are not at 90°. But, I did get this helicopter used but it was like new condition basically. The way that I was adjusting my servos was by manually unscrewing the little arms off of the servos and turning them a little bit and screwing them back on and I said to myself like damn there has to be a better way to do this how come there are no settings for this. Now I know! 😄🤙 Edit: came back to say that that's not the only thing I learned from this video but if I talked about everything I learned this comment would be way longer than it already is.
Nice video buddy. Are those blades carbon or plastic?. And is it Spectrum supported? DX9 is what I'm thinking. Still waiting for those tiny logo blades.
Great video! Out of the box my M2 seems level and servos appear to be at 90 degrees. When I try to fly it it turns sharply to the right with a less pronounced backward flight. I have reset the flight controller by pressing the set button 10 times but nothing works. Do you know how I should go about fixing this? Can't enjoy it the way it handles now.
I figured out how to stop the drift. The procedure is in the M1 manual but not the M2 manual and the M2 uses a different looking flight controller. Do the following with the canopy off. First step is to center your servos using the setup button on your flight controller. Once this is done verify the adjustable servo links are 28.2 mm center to center and that should level the swash since the servos are all mounted on the same plane. You could also work backward if you have a swash leveling tool by leveling the swash using the servo centering feature of the flight controller if your adjustable links are 28.2 mm center to center. DO NOT ADJUST THE SERVO LINKAGE OTHER THAN TO MAKE THEM 28.2 mm CENTER TO CENTER. Finally, put the heli in stabilize mode with obviously throttle hold on. Assuming the throttle stick is pulled low then pull the elevator stick full down until the LED on the flight controller starts to blink. Then hover as well as you can for about 30 seconds or so and the flight controller will "learn" what is a stable flight. Land as lightly as you can and, after landing, don't touch the throttle stick but hold the elevator full down once again and the LED should go from flashing to solid. This indicates the controller has saved this stable flight setting. You can do this multiple times if necessary. I have not checked it but the settings should also make Idle Up 1 and 2 more stable with less fighting the helicopter drift.
i have the m1 this does not work for me i have the pocket remote omp protocol it seems locked i pull down on the alerion and nothing am i doing it wrong? am i right that its locked out? to unlock it i use my own reciever fsshh etc? and set up via a radio master then i can truly adjust? see mine pulls right aliern and slight full rudder no matter now much i want to adjust trims they dont seem to work.. that and its touchy from 50% and up there seems to be too much speed from 50% and up and say 100 and to 50 like the collective is just super fast i want to smoth it out and slow it down how can i fix both these issues?
Great video on stuff that is very “fiddley”. Thank you. Freddy, truth is - I’m lazy. Can you put links to Fat Boy HELI and your sales shop in the description? Go ahead and do it for each of your videos. Thank you.
Hey buddy you can just Google FatBoyHeliProducts and it will pull up the web site. Or you can send me a message on FB messenger and I can get orders sent to you as well.
Strange issue. Not sure if it is just my M2 Explore, but flies well out of box but swash is not level and there is some left aileron at a nice stable hover. I adjusted the swash to level using the controller and there is significant right aileron on spin up. Reset controller to default and back to stable hover, but non level swash. Also noticed at level swash the blade pitch / grips are not the same on each side, Since there is no way to vary blade pitch without moving swash not sure how to correct if I even should.
First, thanks for the vid. If I center everything (including measuring the 3 servo links) but the blades are not 100% aligned, what should I do next? Is there some way to reset everything 100% to factory (mechanically and programmatically)?
There is a factory reset but I have not had to use it. If your blade are of I would say that the sway may not be perfectly level. Have you attempted to fly and check blade tracking?
Hi, Ive just got myself one of these but have an issue with centering the elevator servo (one one the back). In programable mode im in servo adjust and can adjust the other 2 but cant adjust this one, it does nothing. And it doesnt seem to be behaving correcting in normal operation. Any ideas. Thanks.
Can you increase the "bank angle" or increase the rate of the elevator and aileron in stability mode?...im not good enough yet to fly at a low altitude in idle up 1 but can fly the shit out of it in stability mode but would like a little bit more "nose down" movement and bank angle movement...i can hover in stunt 1 and do a flip and fly a little bit at high altitude but not quiet there yet on full out speed scale flying like i can in stability mode...this is a real fun helicopter...i have a blade 330s and its great as well but this m2v2 is a bullet:)...i can see what you mean on the "pitch" i guess or "throttle" response on this thing...i did a back flip after doing it in my blade 330s and this little helicopter can get away from you real quick
Hey i need help. When i try to flip it in one spot. It will not flip. It will only go so much and stop.i have the d/r at 100 and expo at 15. I have a dx6e radio. And also my travel is 100. What am i doing wrong..???
Your model is in Self Stablize Mode and you need to toggle it off. You need to assign your GEAR channel to your idle up switch. Please watch my setup video for help on this.
Yo Freddy quick question. Does the M2 receivers have any aux channels? If not can you add an aux channel through the SBUS or the DSMX channel? For like LEDs and having power and a switch option or bubble maker or whateva? Or will adding the futuba reciver through the SBUS give you more channels? Thanks Freddy flysafe.
Thanks again, Freddy
