I feel like Lithuanian efforts are really underappreciated. Lithuania had a Western recognized state, but with Pagan religion and Pagan leadership for 134 years. The only such example in the world.
Please make more videos. I love your comparative analysis of historical events. Your videos are structured wonderfully and are a great resource for learning.
Thanks! I'll try--I'm a full-time college student so it's a bit tough to find the time, but I might be able to save time by twisting my notes each semester into a video or two.
Great videos man, keep it up! I wish you would have mentioned about how the Teutons didn't turn out to be quite so honorable and pious when it comes to their dealings with Polish rulers, who were supposedly their brethren in faith. But I guess you wanted to focus on crusades' impact on the indigenous pagan population.
That's definitely true, especially in their dealings with Konrad of Masovia--I only threw in an "instead" there, maybe a couple more words would have been effective. But you're right--I did want to focus on the indigenous population, in a large part because of the connection that other history students would be able to make with the Native Americans.
Can you post some info about the music you use in the outros? It's really good! So I was wondering what the songs were. The one at the end of the dutch revolt video also sparked my curiosity. Thanks!
Because of how recently Lithuania converted to Christianity, there is still a lot of tradition and adherence to pagan beliefs, it's kind of a fusion between Catholicism and Pagan religion that I have't come across anywhere else. The people are *very* superstitious.
You should try and create your own cartoon or even if you can find someone who can draw it up for you. You speak clearly, your slide show was good and this video is good too. Keep on going forward, you'll get the views.
the Byzantine empire didn't spread Christianity to russia, it spread Christianity to Rus' which was a totally different state. the current russia is a descendant of the Muscovy that only adopted the name russia in 1720s, as it conquered Ukrainian lands, i.e. the true political center of the old state of Rus' that dissolved 500 years earlier
