    Fun fact: I had a couple of Skype sessions with Tim Alexander in 2012. Drummer stuff of course, although we did end up just chatting about all sorts of things. Anywho, I happened to mention that I thought that he was the bestest drummer evaarr & that Primus just wasn't Primus without him... (hint, hint) Now I don't wanna claim credit here but he DID rejoin in 2013, sooo.... :D

  • @haamurabaigreyhome4713
    @haamurabaigreyhome4713 Год назад +4

    Mr. Tim "Herb" Alexander on the drums. He's my favourite drummer & the reason I got so heavily into Primus as a teen. He & Les are the perfect drum/bass combo, imh. Made for each other, musically speaking. I've heard Les say as much.
    Anywho, whilst Herb plays on most Primus albums he did leave the band from 1997-'02.. Came back from 2003-'09.. left again... returned 2013-present & there're four albums without him. Brian Mantia & Jay Lane would take on the role, respectively. These other albums are good, but there's no mistaking Herb on the kit. You've only heard him so far, but let's see if you can note his absence should you hear some tunes from the other albums. :D

    Why does no one ever recommend “The Toys Go Winding Down”? That’s got to be one of, if not, THE MOST underrated Primus song!! It’s also one of their catchiest with an awesome bass line that sounds like a horse gallop.

    I'm so happy someone is giving this amazing song some love, so underrated. This is part of a tetralogy including "John the Fisherman, Fish On, Ol' Diamondback Sturgeon and The Last Salmon Man." Known as "The Fisherman Chronicles." Primus is my favorite band almost in a tie with Tool. My musical Ying Yang you may call them. One is funnier, weirder, darker sometimes and the other is more serious and spiritual and pragmatic. Primus is just the most original band I've ever heard. Love them. So glad you enjoy them that much. You still have a long way to go into this eternal can of Pork Soda. You suck!

    Tim “Herb” Alexander is the MVP on this track. Tim - along with John Stanier of Helmet and Dave Grohl of Nirvana - were pivotal in inspiring me to learn the drums back in 1996/1997. I still play to this day and Tim Alexander is easily my favorite from those three all these years later. Eventually, you’ll need to check out Tomas Haake of Meshuggah; he’s a drummer’s drummer. Speaking of Tool, Danny Carey goes to Meshuggah concerts and shakes his head in disbelief at how good Tomas Haake is.

    Although there are so many great songs by Primus, there are also lots of gems from Les Claypool's side projects/supergroups. "The Claypool Lennon Delirium" - "Blood and Rockets", "Bucket of Bernie Brains" - "Tyranny of the Hunt", "Fearless Flying Frog Brigade" - "Buzzards of Green Hill", "Oysterhead" - "Mr. Oysterhead", "Duo De Twang" - "Stayin' Alive" (a cover of the Bee Gee's song of the same name), and many others.
