My step dad loved Notre Dame like nothing else and I fondly remember him playing this song when I was very young. He is no longer in this world and this song reminds me of his joy but it also makes me tear up at his memory. RIP papa~
Lyrics Cheer cheer for old Notre Dame Wake up the echoes cheering her name Send a volley cheer on high Shake down the thunder from the sky What though the odds be great or small Old Notre Dame will win overall While her loyal sons are marching Onward to victory
Mountain Dew The real Lyics Cheer, cheer the red and the white, Honour the name by day and by night, Lift that noble banner high, Shake down the thunder from the sky Whether the odds be great or small, Swans will go in and win overall While her loyal sons are marching Onwards to victory.
Cheer cheer the Red and White! I wanna get into college football just so I can listen to this, thanks Notre Dame for letting the Sydney Swans use this!
And likewise MY high school-York Catholic(in my hometown of York, Pennsylvania). Most appropriate, considering our nickname, like Notre Dame, was “The Fighting ☘️ Irish.” The school marching band would play this at 🏈 football games in the third quarter when a touchdown was made, and the cheerleaders would clasp shoulders and do a cancan to this.
Isn’t that a quote from Laverne and Shirley?(by Shirley herself of course.) I can’t remember which episode; however, because she was ☘️ Irish (Feeney was her last name) I can’t help but wonder if they had been watching a Notre Dame game?
My high school, Longview, Texas ... we use the exact sang song, just not the exact lyrics. We've used it since before 1936 when we won the State Championship.
Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame Wake up the echoes cheering her name Send a volley cheer on high Shake down the thunder from the sky What though the odds be great or small Old Notre Dame will win over all While her loyal sons are marching Onward to victory!
I'm listening to a playlist of college fight songs, and after just listening to USC's fight song...i needed to get the stink off me...so I sing to Mary :)
Aaron Rudolph do you have any idea how expensive and tedious it is to do, though? I speak from the opposite experience as a US citizen studying in Canada... there’s a reason why there aren’t too many people interested in crossing the border and living on the other side.
This is by far the best version of the fight song. You get the fanfare in the beginning and when those trumpets hit after the chorus and the whole band erupts, it’s electric. “The band of the Fighting Irish”!
Cheer cheer the red and the white, honour the name by day and by night, lift that Nobel banner high, shake down the thunder from the sky, what though the odds be great or small, swans will go in and win overall, why her loyal sun's are marching onwards to victory.
This is my high school’s fight song. I am in band. The football team are reigning state champs. What does all this mean? This song is ingrained into my memory and we all joke about waking up in a cold sweat at night hearing it playing in our dreams. I still love it though.
Cheer cheer the red and the white honour the name by day and by night lift that noble banner high shake down the thunder from the sky wether the odds be great or small swans will come in and win over all while the loyal swans are marching onwards to victory
Ara, Hanratty, Seymour, Page, Theismann, Gatewood, Clements, Casper, Ferguson, Joe The Cool, Holtz, Bettis, Rocket, Mirer, Tim Brown, Harrison Smith, Quinn, Teo, and on and on and on . . . . been listening to this song for 50 years! All we need now is a way overdue National Championship!!!
To all concerned with ND - there is without a doubt something going on there - from Europe am checking this out and its SOOOO good! We in Europe have lost our soul, we r lookin to U in good old US of A!
Cheer, Cheer the Red and the White Honour the name my day and my night Lift that noble banner high Shake down the thunder from the sky Weather the odds be great or small Swans will go in and win all for all While her loyal sons are marching Onward to victory
This is my schools spirit song... Here comes the blue and here comes the white Ready waupaca put up a fight Crash those cymbals beat those drums Cheer ever hero as they come Ready to do and ready to dare Ready waupaca put up a scare Shouts for waupaca are in the air cause here comes the fighting team
@@olivernorth7418 Sadly when I got older I found out their music program was dwarfed by just about every other Indiana college. and since I put all my eggs into playing music and wanting to be a music teacher it ended up not being where I wanted to go. One year into college at IU I got an offer to learn construction management instead of music teaching which makes roughly 3 times more than any music teacher ever earned so I dropped out lost the student loan debt early and do construction. so long story short am I in love no, but are they the only college I cheer for sportwise when I make brackets with friends and family lets just say "lets go Irish". also god if one could delete being young id do it.
Notre Dame Football. Notre Dame Univ. The only program supported by hundreds of thousands of fans around the world who remain loyal to Notre Dame always, not just when we are winning. Notice that some of you? We are Notre Dame who graduate 98% of our players yearly. We don't want partime fans, you can be found only in small places. No offense to anyone. Ha, Ha, Ha. Go Irish.

In memory of my Dad, class of 1943......I miss you Dad. :(
DID NOT HERE VICTORY MARC PLAYED DURING THE BOWLING GREEN GAME
He’s proud of ya
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Darwin Luciano I watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
My dad class of 42....miss you dad
Sydney Swans' version has both a key change and a banjo part.
An Aussie yes.

Send a volley cheer on high
Shake down the thunder from the sky
What though the odds be great or small

While her loyal sons are marching

for those that can't understand the lyrics, I'll translate. I speak jive
cheer cheer for the red and the white
DOES THE BAND STILL PLAY VICTORY MARCH AFTER EACH SCORE
How would this do as an ideal handwashing tune under the current circumstances?
Mountain Dew The real Lyics

You don’t even have to be a Notre Dame or college football fan in general to know that this fight song is absolutely iconic
Lol..Arguably one of the DUMBEST things I've ever heard

Heck, there was even the famous Notre Dame logo on our gym wall-the fighting leprechaun ☘️ with his doubled up fists. :)
Good Luck, we're all counting on you.

I'm going to my first ND game this weekend against USC. Can't wait to hear this in person!
Damn if I didn't live in Canada I would definitely go to this school
Exactly, because no non US citizen has ever attended a US university before. It's unprecedented.
Aaron Rudolph do you have any idea how expensive and tedious it is to do, though? I speak from the opposite experience as a US citizen studying in Canada... there’s a reason why there aren’t too many people interested in crossing the border and living on the other side.
Well there’s a nd high school I went to and it’s still the fighting Irish
Chase Claypool. Great ND wide receiver now in NFL. Natalie Achonwa, ND grad in WNBA. Both from Canada.
Our Lady's school admits students of merit and promise from the world.
A fantastic 31 to 0 shutout against Michigan on the 6th! Keep up the great work, ND!
