I just ordered this unit to go with my Warm Audio Wa273. The Wa273 adds a nice warm silk to whatever I run through it. I have the SSL Big Six that includes the 4G compressor. However, it's at a fixed setting. This will give me more flexibility and color flavor with the transformers.
One of the best purchases I made for my studio. When. you click her into action on a stereo mix, the sound is so much more dynamic and multi-dimensional. Great piece of kit, especially considering the price point.
considering the diy kit costs about 500E and this one has (wonderfull sounding) output transformers PLUS an elaborate sidechain filter, it was a no-brainer for me ! Thanks mr Warm !
I also have the heritage audio successor! They both are fantastic, and I use them for different duties! My audio world has opened up so many possibilities! Thank you Warm! Cant wait for the new products to come!
First it was that WA273-EQ that graced my rack, now my WA Bus Comp arrived today to replace my FMR Audio RNC1773 being used on my master bus. Oh my, it sounds so sweet good now when I run my my mix through them both on the Master bus. WA273-EQ + WA Bus Comp.
I'm a fan of VCAs for metal music production. Tried this one and instantly fell in love with the unit. Someone's gonna have a birthday present it seems :)
@JDS music Its pretty damn amazing. It sounds marvelous on pretty much everything. I really dig it with the transformers engaged with electric guitar. Sooo nice!
For my ears even when passed the mix with transformers engaged and comp disabled it gives a nice flavour to the sound. Somehow a nice saturation, 3d like. I just bought one and this is my conclusion. Definetly a must have for the price.
Can you use this compressor for recording instead of on the bus basically can you use this a regular compressor so that when I record a vocal it’s already on there

Got myself one of them and I love it ! Great work ! Just a question to you: I jjust noticed some people get a huge boost in level when engaging transformers and some, including me, doesn't get any level boost when engaging. Is there something to worry about, when I can't notice any level change at all when engaging the transformers?
Hey there - seeing a large volume boost usually means that something in the signal chain that is unbalanced, so if you don't hear a boost that's a good thing :-) Hope that helps!
Well I learned something today, with these SSL style VCA bus compressors, I always thought that the High Pass Filter only determined which frequencies 'Trigger' the compressor? and not which frequencies are compressed? ie the entire audio signal is affected by the compressor, She even states in the video that the HPF only works on the side chain signal? but then she states several times in the video that bass frequencies below the HPF setting are NOT COMPRESSED? Can anyone at Warm Audio clear this up for me? Q. does the HPF 'ONLY' determine which frequencies TRIGGER the compressor? Q. or does the HPF affect which frequencies in the AUDIO SIGNAL are compressed?
Hey there! Great questions. We're working on getting this video updated to provide a little more clarity. The HPF will work like a traditional HPF and compresses the higher frequencies you set this to and allow the deeper frequencies to come through WITHOUT being compressed. Hey there! While it's ideally used as a mastering compressor(whole mix), one of the best parts about being in the studio is experimenting...You can absolutely use this compressor on a single track. The BUS-COMP is traditionally very clean sounding but has a button to "engage transformers" for some additional color on your signal and a nice one to test out on your audio signals.
Hi Sasha! You'll need an audio interface to connect your PC. You can definitely use the BUS-COMP as a compressor in post-production as well. Hope this helps!

Thank u for the demo. So if nothing is plugged into the side chain input, does that mean the hpf knob is obsolete? Thank u
nope, the hpf knob will still work as intended if nothing is plugged into the side chain input

Indeed you can! If you want to run your signal through the BUS-COMP on the way in, there's no problem in doing that at all.

Could it be used solely for a channel/track?
