THIS MOVIE IS A TRAVESTY! #ReleaseTheSnyderCut - Greg
At least that’s last of the travesty, and we are into the more fun movie shit of the DCEU. Aquaman and Shazam were a blast to watch dude, they’re not masterpieces, but damn they are fun to watch.
Greg, your pure confusion at the green screen was beautiful. I'm already enjoying this review more than JL, and I'm 3 minutes in
@@nicktiznado8492 this was actually the last DCEU movie I've ever seen. This is the one that broke me. I'll be watching the rest of the movies for the first time
That’s fine, the rest are actually fun movies.
Nick Tiznado Aquaman fucking sucked. Literally the only thing they got right is that JM looks good as Aquaman.
I'd almost rather watch suicide squad again.
Shazaam is great because every character is charming enough to make you ignore the film's flaws.
The beginning is horrifying
Was that suppose to be Superman or Human Shrek.
Shoutout to Ezra Miller's cameo in Crisis On Infinite Earths
This aged well
I’m surprised Greg didn’t cover his mustache
Omg LoL
maddoggnick96 they should have painted it green and made it disappear like Kevin and reappear lol.
Yea, definitely a missed opportunity lol
The worst movies make for the best In Reviews.
I disagree with Nick. It's not that they needed seperate movies to set up each individual member of the Justice League. It's just that it's a bad movie. Guardians is proof of that.
But the characters in Guardians aren't Larger than Life Superhero Gods. The Guardians don't work separately, they only work as a team.
The Justice League brings together the greatest DC heroes, but they are all separate entities beside the team
@@vinnybastos A Peter quill movie could work if it was a good movie. We didn't need a Han Solo Solo movie, a Luke Skywalker movie, a Princess Leia movie, an Obi Wan Kenobi movie, etc before watching Star Wars. It's all about whether or not the movie is well made. It just so happens that Justice League was made in a caca manner.
@@gleekthemonkey4570 It would work now but the interest back in 2014 would have been waaaaay low for the general public.
@@gleekthemonkey4570 Well, EVERYTHING could work if it was "a good movie". If only it were that simple. Just make a good movie! Problem solved.
I don't know if there's ever been a solo Peter Quill comic book, but I'm gonna guess that it probably exists, because comics. Same for pretty much every guardian before a writer gathered them in a Team.
But even so, There is no way it's bigger or more well developed than the Guardians comic books.
Not the same case with the DC characters. All of them had separate majorly successful comic books before teaming up in Justice League.
Anything COULD work, but let's say that if they chose to follow the blueprint of that other succesful team-up franchise, their chances would've significantly increased. Just look at that clunky-ass dialogue between Mera and Aquaman. That's just a huge exposition dump about those characters that wouldn't have been needed if we had already seen Aquaman in a solo adventure. The way it stands, it doesn't mean anything to anyone who doesn't already know that information, therefore it has no emotional resonance.
I do not understand people who liked this movie more than BvS. I also don't understand why people give anything resembling praise for Whedon on this movie.
Invisible Kevin has me losing it already.
This and BVS are the reasons why I got into these in reviews. In the past like 3 weeks I have watched from Iron Man to here and now it’s finally time for JL! (I had to skip a few for movies I didn’t see though like Mission Impossible 6)
Edit: they’re also the reason I subscribed to the channel
in review got me into KF too when they did star wars.
Wow that is amazing!!! Even though I’ve loved seeing them live i can’t imagine how awesome that would be to binge
BvS Ultimate Edition is the reason why i am a dc fan not marvel.
It's the only reason I'm here. The scene by scene breakdown (IN ORDER) is what makes it stand apart from other reviews that sometimes try to deep dive, but end up bouncing all over the place. These reviews by far prove NO MOVIE IS PERFECT. And it's fun to rip some of the dumbest shit ever seen on film decided by people who will make more money in 6 months than I, you, and most of the rest of us will in a lifetime.
link4555 the Spider-Man reviews were rough for me. X-men was nice though and the Fast and Furious and Mission Impossible ones.
Who’s here to watch before Snyder Cut In Review drops?
is it just me or did Greg just stopped caring about explaining how synder vision for justice league was , especially to nick ? his face tells it all
need more of this feisty greg miller.
this review is barely longer than the film. Greg explain this??? I expected at least 6 hours, what a travesty
6 hours?? I took a week off work!
Just wait till next month when the do this again for Snyder cut.
WB begged Nolan to be their Feigie and he reluctantly agreed to produce MoS. He disagreed with Snyder over the killing of Zod and stepped away afterwards. Surprised you guys didn't know this.
At least now people will see that this movie is mostly Joss Whedon, and not just a recut like people kept insisting lol
I understand why nick likes this movie: it’s shitty, corny, outdated and has a simple plot. His favorite kind of movie.
This movie is indefensible. It's a failure on every level. It's a travesty that this was the first movie called "Justice League".
I'm not a Snyder fan but why is Nick acting as if he saw the Snyder cut lol?
Justice League DID NOT make its money back. The production budget was 300mil, marketing was 150mil on top of that at least, they made 600+mil, a third of which goes to the theaters. They most certainly lost money on this film!
15:07 Zack didn't choose the music. That was Whedon's choice.
and there were articles about the music change and I don't know how they not think about that or heard about that.
The akward "everything looks like a set or soundstage" look is not Snyder. Those are Whedon made, WB forced reshoots. Whedon reshoot 80 pages of the script...at about a minute a page, Whedon reshot 1:20 out of 1:59 runtime.
Moment of truth. We’ll find out what all the changes were this Thursday
Rewatching this after now having seen the Snyder Cut and laughing knowing just how much worse the music choices will be 😆
This movie hurts me in a way I can't explain.
Me too man, I mean I glad this is the last DCEU film to piss me off this much for now. But the fact that it’s a Justice League movie that pissed me off, really doesn’t help at all.
The problem with the DCEU isn't that they didn't start with solo films. I don't understand why Nick is so fixated on that.
Tbh i think they could've started with a JL movie like JL War, i thought that did a good enough job introducing the characters.
I hope after the Flashpoint movie, we can get a proper cinematic universe going. I mean the DCEU is doing better because they doing what they should have done in the first place, make standalone solo films before connecting them.
That clunky-ass exposition dump between Mera and Aquaman would disagree...
It's not THE reason but it absolutely is a big part of what is wrong with the movies. They wanted what Marvel had but didn't want to build up to it. I think they relied too heavily on people's familiarity with Superman and Batman, while at the same time not doing those characters justice.
It is a huge problem, though. Why should we care about any of these characters if they haven’t had time to develop? It feels so slapped together
“Under no circumstance are we doing anything fun to introduce this movie” such a sad yet funny as hell moment
And no, you don't need 6 solo movies before this one just to introduce the characters. X-men didnt't need it, Guardians of the Galaxy didn't need it, Magnificent Seven didn't need it...
But all of those characters are better known as part of a team rather than their individual stuff.
@TIVIS014 I disagree because the animated series got them all together and it made sense. Sure you got to know them over time, but as a kid I didn’t know who any of them where besides Superman and Batman.
DirtyOldmanOG The animated series had more air time to develop the characters and build the relationships. That’s the advantage television has over movies.
@@TIVIS014 The SnyderCut is 214 mins long, so lots of time to develop characters properly.
We already know Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman; Aquaman doesn't need much to understand his character (there were some scenes with Vulko and Mera shot that never made it in the Theatrical Cut, basically to set up the upcoming movie), same thing with The Flash (whole subplots with Henry Allen and Irish West were completely removed; again, meant to be explored in a future movie).
Lastly, Cyborg, as Snyder himself has said nomerous times, was meant to be the central figure of his Cut, being tied with the Mother Boxes and all that stuff.
@@DanV900 It would have been shortened to 2h 45 mins or something like that for the Theatrical release, releasing a Director's Cut on BluRay later on. Either way, its plenty of time to flesh out characters if done properly.
Take a shot for everytime Kevin disappears lmao 😂
Tim, superman was confused like a pokemon who got hit with confuse ray. Only instead of hurting himself, he hurt batman.
Nick: Snyder fucked it up.
Greg: No he didn’t.
Nick: why are you blaming Whedon?
Greg: i’m not blaming whedon.
Seems like there’s a lot of history being forgotten. They keep saying Snyder had a vision (laid out in BvS), and that they should have let that vision play out. Thats not what I remember in the news and interviews at the time. I remember Snyder getting in touch with Nolan and creating an idea for what Superman could be in the modern/real world. Thats what they did, essentially, and even though people were angry a the destruction, it was a different take, and generally liked. Notice how there were no references to a bigger universe (except a few easter eggs nobody really noticed), no mention of kryptonite (Snyder was adamant about this, saying that it has been overdone in the past, and wanted no part of it, and yet it is central to BvS), and all of it was as grounded as possible. Then, he announced a sequel to Man of Steel. That sequel eventually turned into BvS, at the request of WB, but Snyder maintained that it was a sequel to MoS, and Superman would be the protagonist. Then, the execs saw the movie, and loved Batman and decided the movie needed more Batman and less Superman, and eventually the movie turned into a Batman/Justice League prequel. That was never the plan. Snyder was forced to create an entire Universe in one movie. Then, after all the backlash, they didn’t even go with the ideas set up in BvS, and gave us Justice League, which is a terrible movie. All of this without mentioning how they changed Wonder Woman (which was written by Snyder, I believe), Suicide Squad, and Aquaman, trying their best to move away from the dark Snyder tone, with the only moderate success being WW. Shazaam is the only movie, aside from MoS, that was allowed to be its own thing from the start. Everything else has been meddled with and failed. So, no, none of this was Snyder’s original vision.j
DanV900 My comments are not just about money, neither is success determined only by money, not to mention that gross sales have to take many other factors into account before being considered a success. Suicide Squad, even making as much as it did and even winning an oscar, is universally hated, and forced WB to change plans, yet again (leaving the Joker aside, for example). But, none of this is the point I am making. I may be wrong in terms of defining success, but my point was simply that none of what has happened was ever part of Snyder’s original visionz
When Kevin leaned in to look at Tim during the ad read, I just died...
🤣🤣🤣
This is the Greg I’ve been waiting for this whole time!
Rewatching in preparation of Snyders Justice League. It makes me happy to see that the fans that wanted it, are finally getting it!
Andy's kinda rocking that Robin suit.
I think you guys missed the fact that Joe Rigatoni also played Deathstroke on Arrow, which I loved.
Nick just talks over everyone on all of these lately.
Nick's really helped to get through these reviews.
Im gonna be straight i love these guys and try my hardest not to be negative but im genuinely finding it rough trying to get through any of these, its not about nick not having his say it’s the fact it seems to be only nick who gets to have his say. Couldn’t even finish batman v superman review or the man of steel one because in both greg is trying to get through the plot and literally every half a sentence nick jumps in, first with what he thinks is wrong with the scene, then how he thinks the scene should have been then film making 101. It would be fine if it was nick doing the plot but the problem is andy/tim even kevin don’t talk over everyone it’s just nick
I have new found respect for Greg after this review
MOS is fantastic. Love that movie so much. Also, BVS extended is a really good movie, some issues sure - but good entertaining movie.
As a big DC nerd like Greg it does hurts my heart a little that if wb and dc took the time to actually build out this universe like marvel did with the mcu we could've gotten movies for Nightwing, Titans, Teen Titans, justice league dark and maybe even a jason todd movie and a actual good green lantern movie.
DC is giving us solid and decent standalone movies after Justice League, I wish they would have done that sooner, they’re planning to soft reboot the DCEU with the Flash, and hopefully they learned what worked and what didn’t.
Never stop this in-review series, please
Kids, don't drink pepsi, or you'll end like uncle Nick
Good to finally have tingle on kinda funny
Fuck you dood i can't unsee that now 😂😂😂
Why didn’t they talk about the Snyder cut more? It’s an actual cut of the movie that completely changes the film and the Director of Justice League is trying to get it released. Seems like a huge detail when talking about this version of JL
most of what they talking about like the music, that's not snyder's fault. Whedon brought in Danny Elfman and remove Junkie XL...and I was wondering too why didn't they talk about the snyder cut more and certain scenes and pictures that were release on line
If Zack was able to finish this I guarantee it would have been a better movie. There are still ppl that liked man of steel and bvs, they would have liked this too. Instead no one liked this movie. Now that Zack is actually bringing his vision to life in the HBO Snydercut I'm 100% confident it will be a solid improvement from this Frankenstein of a movie.
And if the Snydercut does end up being amazing somehow they absolutely should make a mini docu series about this for HBO great idea Andy
Andy woulda been a great aquaman. With a cheap Jason momoa beard and and tats lol
Watching this after the snyder cut trailer.. cannot wait to forget this movie ever happened
Absolutely love these - keep up the great work!
Wasn’t Superman’s mom supposed to be the Martian man hunter when she’s talking to Louis?
no joke, between this and the bvs review I think I've watched these reviews 10 times
Ha me to
Anyone else watching this after Snyder cut has been confirmed?
God damn it kevin
I really appreciate you guys committing so hard to the costumes. Kevin's still kills me.
If Superman sees and fights in super speed then how does anyone ever touch him in fight?
its a known fact that the assembly cut of the film was over 5 hours long.. 3 hours cut off so most of the story rumors most be half true at least and filmed. id be dying to watch this movie with a 3 hour cut
I would pay $100 to see what this movie was supposed to be. Also, I respect your Doomsday Clock profile picture
I'm color blind so Kevin looks like he's in blackface lmao.
Nick is totally right! People who say that all of the DCU is dark and fucked up have only seen the Nolan movies (which are great for what they do), and maybe read Frank Miller Batman and The Killing Joke. That is not all of DC!! Look at the Teen Titans, The Flash, Young Justice, Green Lantern, Justice Society...yeah there are darker parts of the DCU like Batman, the Question, or the Vertigo side with Hellblazer etc. but that‘s not what builds the universe. The light majority is what gives the darker side weight.
Listening to this instead of rewatching the movie in preparation for Snyder Cut lol
I tried listening to this, but it turned into the nick show.
36:22 They somehow predicted The Batman before the film had been written
Nick's point on the contradictory tones that should be between Batman and Superman. I agree. But if you look at the arrowverse, each show has a unique tone. Arrow has a darker Batmanesque tone. Flash has a brighter Superman type show. Legends of Tomorrow have a more comedic tone like suicide squad should be. I think the solution is that the DC movies need to be comfortable with multiple tones across multiple movies.
16:18, you’re welcome lol
Random note: I don’t think Mindhunter was cancelled after season two. 😝 They said it’s coming back, but David Fincher is working on a movie, so it might take longer than usual.
I don’t get when they dig up Superman. Like where did they bury him? According to bvs they buried him in small bills right in front of his house, but then they dig him in some non descrip graveyard. And what did the government bury? And where do they think they buried Clark Kent?
1:02
Bruce:
"You know what, Lucius? I'm going to play this one pretty close to the chest."
Harvey:
"Gordon? You do like playing things pretty close to the chest."
This films biggest shame (on a long, long list) is not having a Batman fight similar to the Warehouse scene in BvS. If this film had one sequence that was equal to that scene it would be somewhat watchable.
Should have green screened Greg's mustache out same as in the movie 😆
My ranking
1. BvS Ultimate Edition ( masterpiece)
2. Man of steel ( best origin story)
3. Aquaman ( unique)
4. Wonder woman ( epic period piece )
5. Birds of prey ( colourful)
6. Shazam ( fun)
7. Justice League ( a mediocre ensemble )
8. Suicide squad ( below average )
Zack confirmed on Vero that the opening montage was NOT a cover song! He said Junkie’s score plays during the opening montage. Y’all need to get the facts straight...most of your complaints are Joss Whedon’s doing.
that's exactly what they should be doing with this review, most of their complaints were from Whedon
Kevin O’Doghair Joss Whedon reshot and put together a movie from the scrap heaps of garbage Scott Snyder left behind in less than 6 months.
Ivan Aguilar All the stupid, cheesy, corny sh*t in this film were thanks to Whedon’s dumb rewrites. And Joss is the reason JL looked like sh*t. When have visuals ever been a problem with Snyder’s films?? Keep making excuses for Joss Whedon...he didn’t have to take the job, but he did...and he turned out a piece of sh*t. “Josstice League” was made for all the ppl who hated MoS and BvS, so enjoy! I’m waiting on #ZackSnydersJL
The scene with Batman, the thief, and the parademon should've gone exactly 1 second longer than it did. Just long enough to refocus on the guy in the background go, "Wait, who the fuck is Alfred?"
#PhoningItBen
"Everybody knows" chose Joss Whedon.
Guys the wall has teeth please help
Does Greg actually believe the Snyder cut would make a difference? I thought it was a joke. People acting like Snyder is Kubrick, every time he puts out a film its worse than the last one.
I watch this at least once a week😂
I'm sorry, but the word "coherente" doesn't describe this movie... At all!
Yes, everything was straight to it's point, but the original movie was going to have all of those characters arcs, but with A LOT of screen time to develope this same characters, and now please tell me: How tf is that a bad thing?!
About Cyborg: at first i was with you guys... I was really afraid of doing a JL movie, without introducing them on their solo films... But when i read that the runtime for the movie was going to be almost 3 hours long, i was like: "fuck yeah, let's go... we already know who Super is, who Bats is, we'll know about Diana os her solo movie, and all we'll have to see is about Vic and Aquaman".
And now that we know, that Victor's Arc was supposed to be "the heat of the film", it makes me really sad, cuz, if the audience didn't liked him, or at least cared for his character, the blame is entirely on WB. Character development is something that you simply cannot ignore it! I mean, they literaly summed it up his whole story on ONE scene, where he talks about everything with his father and that's it.
I really really really need another Superman movie with Henry Cavill. Supermans entrance at the end of Justice League is incredible. Bright colored suit, saying a couple quick quirks and just beams hopefulness. Just give us one more shot with him as superman. please
What if they just pixellated Superman's face and had characters mentioning his horrible case of mono?
This is why I liked the Fox XMen movies original trilogy….it had the perfect balance of light heartedness bit still maintained its grit.
This in review is one of the most infuriating ones to me. This movie is a Frankenstein of a mess. And to me it seems like Tim and Nick and kev say its not so bad only because its less than 2 hours and its straightforward. I listened to these guys give props to Zach Snyder in the Man of Steel in review for trying to something very different and it may bot have worked in the end but kudos for trying. And with this it seems like not trying to be inventive with these monumental characters and just having the most basic plot as if this is a 20 minute epidode of the the Justice League cartoon in the middle of its season taking down a nobody cares villain to fill out the season. This is THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. Hearing Greg in this just spit facts and the others just keep saying no no its not that bad is so infuriating its sickening. Theres more to a movie than the runtime, and yea the universe WB has built even before this movie is super flawed for sure. But you dont cut bait and run IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIES PRODUCTION. And to hear these guys somewhat rewarding that really irks me to no end.
A Christ-like gold globe? 🤔🤔🤔
1) Tone is not the problem w MoS and BvS
2) Y’all need to stop acting like there is only one way to tell a story; just because DC didn’t do exactly what Marvel did-which they COULD NOT DO, otherwise people would just complain about that too-does NOT mean that DC did it “wrong”.
The brunch part was a reshoot. You can clearly see the difference in hairstyles between Bruce & Barry
Very late on this, but here is my opinion on the dark knight realism. It without a doubt works for Batman, just because the nature of his character and his villains. There is a difference between grounded, gritty realism and being believable. Marvel does a great job making their superhero worlds believable but they aren’t going realism. With enough believable world building they can take risks into the unbelievable without breaking the audiences sense of disbelief. Logan was a great example of realism and believability. Wonder Woman is an example of a movie completely disregarding realism for campiness. You need a healthy dose of realism and believability for a modern audience.
JK SIMMONS got jacked & worked out for his awesome show COUNTERPART on Starz! It was an amazing thriller about 2 alternate universes in a cold war with each other! He did a lot of action stuff in it, highly recommend anyone reading this go and watch the 2 seasons, its a bummer it was cancelled because it ends on an amazing cliffhanger! 2 JK SIMMONS for the price of one! 👍🏾
Langley M Neely if you like JK Simmons I highly recommend watching "Oz"
He's so despicable because his performance is amazing.
Pargat Singh Preaching to the choir friend! Thats where I saw him first! Terrifying! Just realized how messed up it is that I grew up watching that show! lol
What pisses me off is that Snyder always uses his budget wisely and in his other two films the CGI is flawless, fluid, and flows seamlessly. Then Joss gets his hands on it and it fuckin crumbles. I have no doubt in my mind that if he had finished it, it would've been one of the most visually stunning films in the DCEU. Just better in general. Fuck man.
RIP Greg Miller
I usually agree with all of Nick’s opinions on movies, but I couldn’t disagree with him more on DC not being dark.
How the fuck does Greg do the plot just from memory- insane mate
Invisible Kevin is fucking DISTURBING
“And then he head butted Wonder Woman into the ground.”
“So dope”
This got me. Lol.
You know, I really like the fact that Nick hates the Snydercut even without seen 95% of an ENTIRE different movie.
the Snyder cut is coming!
Idk what's worst Tim's costume of when Kevin blends in just seeing his eyes and mouth 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. God Dam KF crew, we don't deserve you guys, but we need you guys
Kevin's outfit made watching this movie worth it
Here's the issue with Superhero movies.
1 - Nobody remembers The Will To Power by Friedrich Nietzsche (who created the concept of the "Ubermensch" which influenced society in two major, diametrically opposing ways.
2 - Joel and Jerry were Jewish kids in 1938 when they created Superman.
It's fucking depressing because there's clearly a reason why Superheroes are big now, but nobody wants to address why.
It Breaks my heart hearing Greg talk about this movie.... he loves DC so much and is a true fan. Its not fair that WB did this to people like him. All we can do now is FIGHT! #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
@@DanV900 you realize that Zack has been in no way shape or form been associated with any DC film since he finished production on his version of justice league so that version of Cassandra Cain was in no way shape or form any doing of Zack Snyders.
I love KF but man this one was tuff to listen to omg Nick was all over the place he supposed to be the movie guy to right! I agree with Greg on most of his points and also Tim & I normally disagree with him on his points lol
Justice league sucks #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
Do it WB, you fucking cowards!
I love Kevin. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just in time for dinner. It’s about to be a good one!
Greg miller not knowing how green screens work was better than this movie.
The only reason I am happy that I watched Justice League is because right now I learned that Ozzy says "ALL ABOARD" at the beginning of Crazy Train.....this is the only good thing to come from the DCEU.
1. Wonder Woman
2. Batman v Superman
3. Birds of Prey
4. Justice League
5. Man of Steel
6. Suicide Squad
