I’m so thankful you confirmed the knob function less than a minute in. I was starting to get really anxious worrying you might leave me hanging and I’d be stuck forever wondering. Okay, now that we have that resolved I can go get some fresh tea and watch the rest of the video stress free. Thank you.
Patina: mostly rusty bare metal, with a hint of the blue/green. Faded yellow logo/livery. Pitted, rusted chrome. Diamond plate the bedsides in rusty black with rust holes. Make the flatbed different shades to create the illusion of newer/replaced slats, and older rotten slats. Could also put patches of primer in random spots. My dad and I started to restore a '52 Chevy stake-body truck, and this brings back memories!
The Redcat Hauler is the only drop this year I really want. So many people have been building tow rigs for years and years, and Redcat and CEN are the only companies that stopped and went let's build a properly scale full-size vehicle for people to build tow rigs out of. The lowriders and this COE hauler are just an awesome addition to the hobby and a departure from the normal it really needed. Some of the lowrider builds I have seen are just as insane in detail and custom work as the real ones.
I just got my coe hauler the other day, and absolutely love it especially with my 59 impala lowrider. Honestly redcat has been killing it for awhile, they’ve turned into my go to for rc’s lately. I just ordered the led light kit and servo kit for my hauler, and it’s laying frame to drop it on the ground. I like my crawlers still, but really enjoy the lowriders just as much if not more honestly.
Yeah I’m saving up for the truck, but there is out of stock but they did have the trailer I do have the trailer here now got it couple days ago, I am waiting on a couple other goodies like that topper for it I got the acrylic mirror For it and the diamond plating doors for the sides my trailer is going to look awesome
Did you also open the outdoor valve? I have the red hauler too, but I'm not allowed to open it until Christmas. I also will install wood planks on the bed. Love to watch your videos.
Hey Matt, Thanks for featuring the mods you have done so far on the RedCat Ascent. I would love to have one of the high dollar trucks that are out there but can't spend that much for one. Please continue to show us affordable upgrades to this in future videos. As for the COE why not do a replica of the Counting Cars rollback. Somebody needs to do one up!
I had to shut off my outdoor water valve also on Tuesday. We got about an inch of snow in the Cleveland area right after the kids were done Trick or treating and it was about 28 °F until yesterday afternoon. Anyway great video as always 👌 I have 5 Redcat's now but It looks like I might have to get another.❤
The hauler makes it more "Where's the bench? Weekly"...But I can't wait to see it in person, I wanna make a 'tenth' scale semi and I think a lot've parts off it will make such a project much easier.
I was glad to see the Redcat Ascent on the bench. I think it has opportunity to add new (and existing viewers) another brand to try out. I purchased one to mess with after watching your review. I did the same motor upgrade on mine. I’d be interested to see what you come up with on the shocks. I tried numerous springs, minus springs and oil weights but never could be the truck to sit the way I thought it should
Please, if you can do a video on the Redcat Ascent run with its upgrades 🤞 😏 either way, awesome upgrades ,wheels pop with the body! That Bronco looks 👀 👍
Great stuff on the bench. I built a COE from a midnight pumpkin body years ago and have a fondness for them and the redcat is no exception. Except that it’s too big for my hobby area. (That’s what she said) Glad you have one to play with. (That’s also what she said 😂)
Might want to get with Josh to confirm that kv rating on the Fusion. 😂 The Ascension is actually shaping up to be a great offering from RedCat. Great video as always, sir! 🎩
I think the accent assent ascent ...... anyways.. I think it looks awesome. I'd do those same upgrades. The se does well for me. The hauler is amazing. But... I for 1 have no room... 2 no need for it hahaha. It's just so cool. As for the the vrd Carbon which is replacing my scx10 pro haha. I love that body on it. I think with you twist. It will be pure awesomeness haha
"Oh, I'm a comp guy now. See all my trucks?" - last week's live stream Could someone please pronounce it "ASS-SCENT" just once? Please? You know, why did they release something like 3 years ago? Has it really been that short amount of time for all these advancements to exist in this hobby? It's cool they brought this performance to this price range. Leaves a lot of room to upgrade.
Yessir the fusion se is awesome I went from stock gen 8 v2 to the 1800kv fusion se and it was night and day difference, I hear the axe is even better and to me that's mind blowing bc the fusion se is so good
I don't love the FOC even if it's brilliant when going downhill. I guess you'll match some existing car's livery, could be tamiya porsche, blazer, Vspeed phoenix or whatever you got coming for the raggare drift volvo
Knowing you scale guys or specifically watching what you do probably going to take something that looks beautiful and shiny and make it look like it's been sitting in the middle of a field for a hundred years. Lol
Awesome video man I’m definitely going to buy one of those redcat ascend yours turned out awesome waiting to see her perform. The rig you had at the end looks pretty cool what colour are you thinking for that?
Has anyone mounted an aftermarket body to the Ascent while trying to use the stock mounts off the stock body? If so, how easy or difficult was mounting an aftermarket body using the stock mounts?
Doesn't look like there is much ground clearance on the trailer even when it is unloaded let alone when it has a crawler or heavy vehicle on it or am I missing something
So you’re saying the FOC is “More Better.” I hate to admit it but I own six of those hobbywing brushless set ups now. 2 axe and 4 all in one. Sorry John Holmes.
hello as i look for wheels and tires for my bone stock FORDYCE i understand the 4.65 and 4.75 . i dont mind the narrow ish stance it has . are there any metal wheels that match the OEM size both in offset and width so that i could run a stock 4.65 . could the stock plastic wheel be painted .if so when do you want my address ? JK . thank you .
The height of the tire doesn’t matter, the wheel size does. These are 1.9’s, so any 1.9 wheel will work. You can vary the offset if Vanquish wheels with their SLW hubs. Thanks for watching!
"Laying frame" ;)
You get points for the effort. Lol
I’m so thankful you confirmed the knob function less than a minute in. I was starting to get really anxious worrying you might leave me hanging and I’d be stuck forever wondering.
Okay, now that we have that resolved I can go get some fresh tea and watch the rest of the video stress free.
Thank you.
😂
As much as you love putting silly eyes on the rigs. The tow truck is going to be styled as a mater 😂😂❤
Looking good Harley!
Looks so much better with the fenders trimmed. Makes me want one. Nice work as always!
Thanks! 👍
I completely agree! Simple mod, but bigger transformation than I expected.
Thanks for the reminder to shut my exterior faucets off.
Love the wood bed
I want a whole beer can under there 🤣 love you Matt
My life is complete now that I know what that valve does finally! 😀
Glad I could help! 😂
the blue truck is very sweet vis à vis the red one and put a boat on
Can't wait to see a hauler speed build

Thanks for the suggestions and enjoy the nostalgia!
The low key redcat burns throughout the video though. got to be one of my favorite videos to date 😂
😂

Laying frame is what it's called.... Dropping rail I think means something very much not related to RC 😆
Enjoy the coe!
COE Taco truck... hot pink... 🔥 selling delicious pink tacos! Mmmmmm. 😋
I wouldn't stain the wood, however I would seal it with a high gloss poly.
I vote “dropping rail” be a bumper sticker please 😂
4:28 In and I say in my head, damn I still haven’t hit the thumbs up 😂🙃
😂
Praise Valve!!!!
I pulled out the rear internal springs and it helped out a lot. Leaving the fronts in to keep the front end planted.
I need that van with the traxx🙌
Yeah I’m saving up for the truck, but there is out of stock but they did have the trailer I do have the trailer here now got it couple days ago, I am waiting on a couple other goodies like that topper for it I got the acrylic mirror For it and the diamond plating doors for the sides my trailer is going to look awesome
The wood bed is epic that guy did a really good job!
Agreed!
Very cool 😎
Keep the wood natural but with some oil stains from whatever you been hauling . Keep the bed black but weathered. Thank you for the video.
Looks so good! Go Redcat!
Laying frame and when you lower it when parked is called "hard parking"
I appreciate seeing the 5 inch tall tires on there. I was debating on whether to do bigger tires on one when I get it. Looks awesome!
Go for it! Thanks for watching!
Did you also open the outdoor valve? I have the red hauler too, but I'm not allowed to open it until Christmas. I also will install wood planks on the bed. Love to watch your videos.
you've done it again very informative
Thanks for watching!
Great hauler bed, best I've seen yet,the ascent is looking good also
Glad you like it, and thanks for watching!
Can’t wait to see what you do with your truck

Stay tuned!
I wish i had picked up 1 of those old Bronco bodies, I settled for a Deadbolt as a 2nd body for my SCX10.2 Cherokee kit. 👍🏼
Please, if you can do a video on the Redcat Ascent run with its upgrades 🤞 😏 either way, awesome upgrades ,wheels pop with the body!
That Bronco looks 👀 👍
For the Redcat COE you’re gonna do soft orange glow rear deck stain and Tangerine metallic cab and front fenders. For real, I MEAN it!!!
😆 just turned my outside water off yesterday!
Vanquish wheels make every crawler better. It has the spirit of Josh in them. LOL
Praise the Wheel!
😂
The red cat looks like a Datsun. “Scraping Frame” “lead sled” there are so many hot rod terms
Oh and that bedline is insane truenorthrc does amazing work I’m looking to pick up my interior from chad week coming can’t wait to see it 😁
Great stuff on the bench. I built a COE from a midnight pumpkin body years ago and have a fondness for them and the redcat is no exception. Except that it’s too big for my hobby area. (That’s what she said) Glad you have one to play with. (That’s also what she said 😂)
😂
“Dropping rail” 😂😂 I believe you are referring to “laying frame” which is equally as silly.
Like the bug over your left shoulder
Thanks for the love brother means a lot.. Amazing video :) the lights look awesome
Any time!
Time for an investigation!
Just by adding the vanquish tires and wheels doubled to value of that Redcat. Lol
And I mention that any beadlock would do just fine. You don’t have to spend, but I had them, and they look great on the truck! 😉
Might want to get with Josh to confirm that kv rating on the Fusion. 😂
The Ascension is actually shaping up to be a great offering from RedCat. Great video as always, sir! 🎩
Thanks for watching!
It's gonna be a Gulf livery ...it has to be.
Love watching you videos. Still have ads on this one…
Yep! Ads pay the bills!
I bet Matt is going to replicate one of his porsche hot wheels hauler and match his RWB drift build! That would be awesome!
Shippy hauler forsure!
This thing is too big, Got wood and you starting the vid playing with your knob 😂😂 . Ah we love your humour Matt 👍
Great name too lol
😂
Matt’s scale off road recovery
Of course you could leave the COE black and blue, and call it the Bruiser.
1800 or "1200kv" ahahahahahaha that silly Josh

There's definitely a lot of room for upgrades! Thanks for watching!
Please tell me you will do a Mountain Dew livery on the hauler, to make a team transport with the Porsche, Hot Wheels style!
Launch ramp for losi moto
Yessir the fusion se is awesome I went from stock gen 8 v2 to the 1800kv fusion se and it was night and day difference, I hear the axe is even better and to me that's mind blowing bc the fusion se is so good
Glad to hear it!
All I can think is putting oil stains on the COE wooden bed
Wood Brothers livery.
Always great content! What was your method for flaring the fenders after you trimmed them on the Redcat?
I didn't! That's a straight cut!
Doesn't redcat called those pro mod plastic gears Left over from the ,Cen 8😮 They seem to work but I think they're awfully noisy.
Plastic is quieter than metal!
I'm not so sure, Buddy, Cen 8, I don't know, new red cat probably. I'm not sure I have bought one yet.
I don't love the FOC even if it's brilliant when going downhill.
I guess you'll match some existing car's livery, could be tamiya porsche, blazer, Vspeed phoenix or whatever you got coming for the raggare drift volvo
Those red wheels look bad a$$ on the ascent !
Thanks!
Is that man going to be YOU
Lol
You haven’t attached the floor into it yet, I’m curious I guess you take the original top off and Bolt this one down
It’s sticks down like the grip tape does. No bolts required!
You should make it the same color as your rwb Porsche and make a “team transport” inspired by hot wheels premium team transport rwb Porsche
Knowing you scale guys or specifically watching what you do probably going to take something that looks beautiful and shiny and make it look like it's been sitting in the middle of a field for a hundred years. Lol
Probably! That's my aesthetic!
@@scalebuildersguild I'm sure it'll look super cool can't wait to see what you come up with
Awesome video man I’m definitely going to buy one of those redcat ascend yours turned out awesome waiting to see her perform. The rig you had at the end looks pretty cool what colour are you thinking for that?
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for my colour choice!
That’s what she said 😂
Cheech and Chong tow services
Lay frame
Hey Matt, does the deadbolt bronco body wheelbase match up with the vrd carbon? Keep up the awesome work
No! It’s a 12.3” wheelbase, the Deadbolt is much shorter. 11.6” or something.
Has anyone mounted an aftermarket body to the Ascent while trying to use the stock mounts off the stock body? If so, how easy or difficult was mounting an aftermarket body using the stock mounts?
I have 2 of the bronco bodies, one painted and one still in the bag. Are you going to design a mount for it or use body post and pins.
I’d probably design a mount for it, stay tuned!
I'd be interested to hear feedback on red cat crawler shocks
They definitely need some tuning. Stay “tuned”! Thanks for watching!
Turn it into a camper.
I agree like an old airstream style and use the "bags" to level it.
@@jameswisecarver YES!! 💯!!
Oh, can we get another running video once your done the Ascent (to see it in action when refined)?
I hope to take it out soon!
I actually won a COE hauler. Sold it and got a phoenix vs410 lol
Pretty neat, are those portal hubs? I'm asking maybe halfway through the video, so please forgive me if you covered that.
Portals on the Ascent, yes. Thanks for watching!
Be cool if you built something along the lines of the Welder Up coe gmc
So you're turning that big boy into a drift truck?
You're gonna screw it up with the patina junk! Always think shiny lol.
😂
Doesn't look like there is much ground clearance on the trailer even when it is unloaded let alone when it has a crawler or heavy vehicle on it or am I missing something
What do you need ground clearance for? It's a 2wd hauler, meant for the road!
What? It’s knob day already??
So you’re saying the FOC is “More Better.” I hate to admit it but I own six of those hobbywing brushless set ups now. 2 axe and 4 all in one. Sorry John Holmes.
They’re pretty great! Thanks for watching!
@13:28 That’s what she said.
COE Mobile Brewery
Golf livery???
That’s what…well you know
dont touch the shocks. more articulation doesn't make it a better performer
Oh I know! But this one has particularly little articulation and does need a little help.
