Hehe, I couldn't have said it better. Plus just because of that particular reason I just bought a B7 RS4, after watching his review about 100 times :-D
This is why I love Audi: They make a car that's too heavy, the engine is way too far forward, it has an automatic transmission, and it's a great car! Yet again, turbochargers and Quattro make all the difference.
The RS6 is mental! Just imagine a wagon leaving sports coupes in the rear view while your dog's in the trunk licking the rear window. Can you say... Owned
@@robinpelletstovesuk9194 it’s far from pointless. It’s basically an everyday driver that can actually do everyday things with a silly amount of power. Race car, family car, school bus, grocery getter, all weather friendly. The only car you’ll ever really need.

Possibly first video I saw with Chris. Don't remember actually, 'cos was a few years ago! Then I thought he's weird, sorry, but now - pretty the best journalist!
Not for me but I respect this car! I just want to see that kind of power in the R8! I don't think a more powerful R8 would compete with the Gallardo in terms of sales. I just think it would be a nice option in the 500-600hp range. We'll see what's to come of the diesel version!
I see your point. I just feel that the R8 should have more power considering the fact that there are cars that are cheaper or in the same price range that has more powerful engines.
This was the first Chris Harris video I ever saw right about when it came out and he instantly became my favorite car reviewer on the internet. Crazy to see how far he has came from basically being unknown journalist in Britain, to basically the Jesus to Jeremy Clarkson.
There u said it urself, the C63 is a lower class car, it's smaller and weighs alot less, you wanna compare the c63 with the RS4, the RS6 is the fastest higher middleclass estate, faster than the E63/55 and the M5
nah i don't think so, the 5.0 Biturbo V10 is stronger than the 6.2 V8, the merc is strong but not as fast as the rs6, and even if it was faster than the rs6, the merc has no turbo or anything, it's smooth
Gee's the guy was being sarcastic about the torque curve. You can't have a joke about anything without idiots pointing and parading! The only problem with this guy is that he talks too much.
I agree this car is just to much it's like owning a howitzer for self defence i even looks like ballistic missile with well... nuke in front of it- ka-vrooooom
The Audi RS6 is not an offroad car, it's an ordinary station wagon, just the strongest and fastest one in the world. Audi Allroad is more of an offroad car.
I like the fact that this review seems very unprofessional. I mean i know its professional but its very easy going.. no fancy stuff. Just a guy telling you about the car - very informative review. I think im becoming a fan.
@PetrolDemon When putting it like that, I agree. The V10 is a monster, but when comparing it with the Nissan this car is like... Nothing. One's a coupe and the other is a sedan. They've both got room for four and have a trunk. But the RS6 isn't even a supercar while the Nissan is more than a supercar. Besides, there's a lot of tuning potential in the Nissan too, there's loads with more than 800 HP with the V6 installed.
You're preaching to the choir my man. I have a MX-5. I still think the RS6 is cool as hell for a wagon, it's not a sports car. It's what Car and Driver would call a "Boss Wagon". And I don't know about overheating problems, yeah the 2.7T had that, but that was a long time ago. And it's an automatic bc Audi doesn't have a manual transmission that can handle so much torque. Same with the old RS6 sedan turbo V8.
I just think that a world with everything assisted is just sapping from the excitement of things. Think Traction Control, shit's a whole lot more fun without.
audis... dont last for shit dude... they are only good when they come here in that condom wrapper... after that, they become garbage... most a4s burn coolant and oil... awesome car... for 40k

@Adamojjo Actually, both Audi and Lamborghini are owned by Volkswagen so there is quite a lot of component sharing. The V-10 engine used in both Audis and Lamborghinis is the same engine block. The heads are different but that's only because Lamborghini prefers their four-valve design while VW/Audi favor a five-valve design. Another clue is the 90° V angle. That's odd for a V10 designed from scratch but perfectly understandably if you consider Audi's existing V8 engine.
Almost every leading car manufacturer has a supercar to show for, and VW buying lamborghini 3 years ago has nothing to do with how a lambo is engineered. The ’11 R8 has only 420 bhp.. It’s a nice car, yet incomparable to any ’11 ferrari or lambo. And guess what? The R8 uses a Lamborghini gallardo’s engine platform, and is made by Audi’s subsidiary company ‘quattro GmbH’. So finally, don’t talk when you clearly don’t know anything.
The reason the latter received those names as cars was because of their history and legacy of being top performance cars with the luxury, class, and look that you cannot compare to a fucking audi lol. The price of an rs6 is roughly the same as a Gallardo.. a car anyone would drive over a ridiculously priced audi. Telling me you would buy this over a Lambo/Ferrari simply proves the fact that you don’t have the kind of money to
show for, as your criteria of comfort for family, reliability, and speed of a station wagon completely defeats the purpose of “wealth”. Nobody buys a comfortable car with 572 bhp to be used for family outings lol. ..and if you were to have that kind of money, you wouldn’t mind spending the extra dollar on maintenance or repairs which btw are quite damn expensive on an audi rs6 as well. So your point is opinionated and can only be logically confirmed if you had that kind of money to play with.
@Adamojjo well hey im an enthusiast, and i would for the price buy something practical, reliable, brutally quick and provide adequate comfort for family and/or friends {audi}, over something that breaks down is more expensive and impractical {lambo and ferrari}, and it appears that what i have seen in your comments on previous car vids, you have less knowledge of a car than the amish do technology.
@TVRnGTR LOL, how could anyone agree that they would take an rs6 over a ferrari or lambo.. Like comon' the car looks like a station wagon my grandfather would drive, except with the extreme horespower that would make for a quick way to heaven. This car as quoted by Chris Harris is a "family car", and if not for the 572 bhp, would be driven by families altogether. Any car enthusiast or racer would never pick this shitmobile over an exotic car like a lambo or ferrari..Plain and simple.
what a great car? ha! its a giant heavy car- there is a difference between i light car that has a low mass (sports car) and a heavy tank that cant turn without a ton of weight pushing left and right.... Like you said- A CAR THATS TOO HEAVY- ENGINE WAY TOO FORWARD WITH OVERHEATING PROBLEMS WHEN IT COMES RELIABLE DRIVING.- AND OH YEAH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION- THATS THE BIGGEST JOKE OF THEM ALL- WHY THE HELL WOULD THIS BE AN AUTOMATIC UNLESS YOU CANT DRIVE AT ALL.---- too pricy, crap
The Rs6 has 572 BHP,and it's a family car,it can sail past 200mp/h meaning 320 km/h.And you got a big boot, tons of space in the back,it's good looking and makes an orgasmic noise, what more can you possibly want from a car ? I'd buy one if i had the money, infact i'd buy this car over almost any car on production today, why?Because it can to so many things that other cars would dream of doing.
No. Whilst I may agree about that with a lot of car presenters this guy manages to have his own style. He may not be as outright entertaining as Clarkson and co. but his reviews are still not boring and are informative enough. I think Clarkson has had such a impact that really anyone who has the same job will be accused of trying to be like him in one way or another. Even Tiff Needell of Fifth Gear is sometimes claimed to be doing such, even though he has been doing the job longer.
It is a nice car. My personal favorite in the Audi lineup. However, having heard Chris' comments about the weight, I think I might slightly favor the RS4 now. Let's face it, the RS4 practically has the same performance as the RS6 as far as acceleration is concerned, unless you fully load each car to the max with passengers and cargo. And I could imagine the overall handling of the RS4 to be somewhat easier too.
Really? It's "known" in the industry as the better car? hmm. I haven't heard that opinion yet. Forget 572hp. It's needs that to shift it's sorry fat ass! Won't be changing my M5 for that, sorry. On the other side, I do agree with him. When will these numbers stop growing? When will it be enough? I lusted after an M5, and when picking my new one up, was the happiest person alive. Now, after living with it a few months, think it's just too much. I drive my wifes Mini more now :o(
im not necessarily saying that wagons deserve a bad rep. i drive one, and its actually pretty fast for a saturn (yes, im cheap), but people think stock sedan models are much betterm, even if theyre slower. unless something radical happens, performance wagons are never going to sell very well here, simply because people refuse to believe that they can be fast.
Its quite intriguing why there are so little videos of this RS6 compared to an M5...... It seems not so popular in terms of high quantity sales..... It will be very interesting to see how the maintenance in this car is.... he seems unimpressed over all. Does this car come in Manual? I would never buy an automatic RS6 or any automatic fast car.....
yeah thats right, and actually it doesnt only crack the 300 km/h, it does over 320 km/h. so its very sad that audi only offers it with a 280 km/h limit. but thanks to herman car tuners like ABT Sportsline or MTM, its possible to get rid of that fuckin limit. and so its possible to enjoy a 300km/h plus drive on a german autobahn ;-).
@TheKiwiLord agreed. the guys over in japan know how to give a lot to their cars technologically. but still the germans know their stuff. and aftermarket can transform both hugely. i do feel this car is a bit overweight though and i would prefer an RS4 (if you could fit this v10 in) :P
@TVRnGTR 1st off I'm not going to argue with you about which car "You" personally like more.. Thats your opinion. You don’t know what I know about cars, so that is irrelevant to this topic. But what I will say is that you or anyone else cannot compare audi to ferrari or lamborghini..
You are just not in the target audience. As i may assume, you are way too young anyway to be able to afford such a car. So don't prattle if you don't know shit. This car just isn meant to go fast around corners. Its sort of a very fast luxury car, that CAN go very fast on the highway. Not a sportscar.
its not like this here in germany.. almost everyone knows how fast a station wagon can be. not only because of super-cars like M5's or RS6's. there are plenty of station wagons that are faster than normal sedans. depends on the engine. 530d's, A6 3,0T, E350 T-Model..
great review with all valid point.power transmitted down to the the road is way better than huge power leaving rubber on the road in clouds of smoke travelling sideways.how often are you gonna powerslide on the average road though.sensible audi once again.a bit on the heavy side though
this guy complains way too much... first of all its a wagon... if you want your supercar handling and weight you'll take out the ferrari or lamborghini... this is just good fun for groceries and the family... sorry about the throttle not bliping perfectly for you...
first my dad has a rs6 and believe me if it goes round a corner your eyeballs almost pop out second its heavy yes but u can do anything with it third the sound of the turbo's is beautifull fourth if u can afford a rs6 u can afford the speedtickets as well fifth a m5 is gay
and that the driver drove 1/2 kilometer with the body hanging from the windscreen before he stopped. He claimed that is was because he was in chock. I think it was: a) He was going so fast that it took him that to stop b) He was considering turning tail.
well, same here, i guess. if i had enough money to have both, you can bet that i would take them. but id rarely have anything to do that the R8 couldnt handle, so if i could only have one, it would be my car of choice.
wtf? of course a M5 touring is lighter than this one. its shorter and narrower than the RS6. plus it got a weaker --> lighter engine. thats why the RS6 is about 200kg heavier... and i personally dont really care about 200kgs.
well, it debuted at the detroit motor show '09. its called the R8 V10. it has a 5.2l v10 from the lp560-4, with 525hp. 0-60 in 3.9 top speed of 196. anybody who cares at all about the world of automotives knows about it
im a bmw fan and i was really excited about the car till i heard that it weighed 2100kg. thats just too much. hopefully the sedan will be way lighter. power wise thanks to audi, bmw are putting twin turbo in the M5 :)
@lobzdik the metal cooling, and therefore contracting... Like when you turn your heat on or off if you've got radiators... It expands when it gets hotter, and contracts while cooling, therefore clicking
@westywolves1155 i agree they suit almost anybody my dad owns a Q7 and it looks morse sophisticated and classy than some higher class cars, plus being an audi it isnt going to break anytime soon
great review. this is what we should see from top gear. instead we have pillocks doing stupid things in expensive cars without us getting any information about the cars themselves
actually, the main problem might be that the RS6 would be considered a station wagon, which i guess it is. and nobody would want a performance wagon. they just have a very bad rep.
@GTtuner56: Why should audi do that, when audi already has V12- Diesel R8. The only problem is: "there is no transmission that could handle the enormous torque and fit in the R8"
If anything it would sell better, a gallardo is restricted by the limited production line at lambo, audi could knock out 10x as many R8s as gallardos. The problem is, if they start offering a car that is just as quick, and arguably better looking (subjective to the individual), why on earth would someone buy a gallardo? I think the only way forward for the R8 is for either the gallardo to be discontinued (or vastly improved in terms of power)or for audi to install that v12 diesil, 2 the market
@Adamojjo Calm down, little man. I wasn't disagreeing with you - just making an obvious point. I guess you've got a little het up over all this RUclips nonsense, eh?
no DSG сause it would breake apart in peaces by the torque
what do you mean with mt? multitronic?
With Tiptronic, it can be very sporty.
Hehe, I couldn't have said it better. Plus just because of that particular reason I just bought a B7 RS4, after watching his review about 100 times :-D

yeah thats right, and actually it doesnt only crack the 300 km/h, it does over 320 km/h. so its very sad that audi only offers it with a 280 km/h limit. but thanks to herman car tuners like ABT Sportsline or MTM, its possible to get rid of that fuckin limit. and so its possible to enjoy a 300km/h plus drive on a german autobahn ;-).
530d's, A6 3,0T, E350 T-Model..
great review with all valid point.power transmitted down to the the road is way better than huge power leaving rubber on the road in clouds of smoke travelling sideways.how often are you gonna powerslide on the average road though.sensible audi once again.a bit on the heavy side though
this guy complains way too much...
first of all its a wagon... if you want your supercar handling and weight you'll take out the ferrari or lamborghini...
this is just good fun for groceries and the family...
sorry about the throttle not bliping perfectly for you...
first
my dad has a rs6
and believe me
if it goes round a corner your eyeballs almost pop out
second
its heavy yes but u can do anything with it
third
the sound of the turbo's is beautifull
fourth
if u can afford a rs6 u can afford the speedtickets as well
fifth
a m5 is gay
this car is the best EVER
(lamborghini)
and that the driver drove 1/2 kilometer with the body hanging from the windscreen before he stopped. He claimed that is was because he was in chock. I think it was:
a) He was going so fast that it took him that to stop
b) He was considering turning tail.
well, same here, i guess. if i had enough money to have both, you can bet that i would take them. but id rarely have anything to do that the R8 couldnt handle, so if i could only have one, it would be my car of choice.
wtf? of course a M5 touring is lighter than this one. its shorter and narrower than the RS6. plus it got a weaker --> lighter engine. thats why the RS6 is about 200kg heavier... and i personally dont really care about 200kgs.
well, it debuted at the detroit motor show '09. its called the R8 V10. it has a 5.2l v10 from the lp560-4, with 525hp.
I think I've found my fav auto presenter.
@Adamojjo
Calm down, little man. I wasn't disagreeing with you - just making an obvious point. I guess you've got a little het up over all this RUclips nonsense, eh?
