    This is the 1st time I've EVER seen a blended family that looks and acts like mine (minus the instruments). I LOVE my son's stepmother for the way she LOVE'S our son. When my son woke up on his 9th Birthday he came straight to my bed, laid next to me and said he'd never love someone else more than he loves me. I said "awwwwww, baby me too"! Then he wasted no time asking me if he could call his step mother mom.... I cried almost immediately. ONLY because my son has ADHD and is SUPER DUPER HYPER. MOST ppl can't handle it, and make him feel like he's a bad kid... including some of his teachers. This makes him assume that most adults just dont like him or want to be around him. So, when he experienced the opposite reaction from her, it made him feel like he was loved and accepted by someone other than ME. At that moment I knew that she was a blessing to him, his father and I. I happily told him OF COURSE BABY..... WHATEVER IS IN YOUR HEART.

    This is why I always argue when people say parents should stay together for the sake of the kids. If the parents aren't getting along, but divorce could give the kid a loving family like this (and like mine), then it should be an option. And I know that unfortunately not all divorced or blended families are like this, but I firmly believe that it's not because of the divorce in those cases. It's because of the people.

    • @EreneWOlson
      @EreneWOlson 8 лет назад +7

      +Cassidy Parker Knight when people say stay together for the sake of the kids i'm pretty sure they mostly mean if the relationship is damaged but still repairable. I think it's just to say try a little harder for the kids since although a lot don't have this but, a two parent household is the norm. Also every child is different and handles situations in different ways, so it's basically saying just keep your child's feelings in mind when thinking about divorce.

    • @victoriahillmitchell3982
      @victoriahillmitchell3982 8 лет назад +13

      +Daisy Long the selfish thing is to put your child through misery because you dont believe in divorce. your child should never think a norm relationship is fighting and mistreating. after 4 years of staying for my child I decided I was worth more then lies, & cheating.. my son is great and his step dad is his best friend. you are right we will all issues but you should not be unhappy.

    • @victoriahillmitchell3982
      @victoriahillmitchell3982 8 лет назад +1

      +Daisy Long people change. you go through different stages before you settle into who you truly are. my son was not planned and before you throw the you should've used protection, I did and it became detatched. so how bout you shut your judgemental trap. its awesome when parents can stay together but if they cant its wonderful when you find someone who loves your child as much as you do.

    • @catk5857
      @catk5857 8 лет назад +3

      This is so true! My parents are divorced and it's hard on me, but that's not because of the fact that they're split up, it's because unfortunately my mum continues to be toxic about it. All I want is for both my mum and dad to be happy, but they won't let that happen. And yet despite this I'm so glad they're not together, because as broken as my family is, it would be more broken if they were. Thanks for commenting this, because it's a really important message, and thanks soul pancake.

      +Cassidy Parker Knight I could not agree more. My parents divorced too and I often wish that there was some sort of relationship like this. My experience has taught me that should I marry someone who is divorced with kids, I'd make sure I treat them with love and respect that I did not receive from my step-parent. You are right, its the people who make things work.

I told him he's not my dad and I dont have to listen to him. I'm 19 now and am greatful my dad told me to do that. My point is step parents should respect the child's real parents and leave the parenting to them

    So my father left me and my mother when I was 2 DAYS old - at the hospital. They were law students then and were supposedly in love, problem is, my mother didn't know that he already had a pregnant girlfriend in the province. So he left to go back to his other baby momma and left us. When I was 3 my mom met her life partner, and I also met the man who would be more of a father to me than my actual father. I have never once felt that I wasn't his child even though we wern't related by blood. We were related by the bond of family and love and that was already more than enough - sure as hell more than what my real father gave me. when I was in High School my father got in touch wih me again, and I figured what the hell, family is family so just forgive. Sometimes I feel like my real father underappreciates my stepdad so much when he should be so embarrassed that my stepdad was raising me while he was off to batman knows where. My stepdad sometimes becomes insecure since my real dad is now a lawyer and can give me more than what my stepdad can. I just want my stepdad to know he is not my stepdad, he's my real father and nothing would ever amount to the love and care he has given me while growing up. Gonna write a letter and tell him how grateful i am, that because of him I never felt like I lacked something because my biological dad wasn't there. So here's to stepparents. ♡

      I went through the same thing and it is true that your dad ( the MAN that raised you) is going to feel insecure. That's normal but you need to reassure him of your feelings. On your biological fathers case , mine actually got back together with my mother so he feels this "relief" like he can just brush off what he has done. It's really weird but as long as you know who loved and raised you, I'm sure you'll be alright ! Much love ❤️

      That is so nice, I bet it will make him very very happy. I got married at 24, my husband already had two kids 9 and 11 years old. people don't realize how hard it is for stepmoms and stepdads. I wish their mom could have gotten past the differences she had with their dad so that we could have made things easier for the kids. I loved them with all my heart and the hardest thing for me was to pull back from them at a certain point because their mum was making them feel bad and guilty for loving me and enjoying their time with me, she made them feel like they were betraying her. Today those two kids are all grown up and I can honestly say I hope I was a little ray that made them feel a little more comfortable if not a little more happy. I have two kids of my own now a 10 years old and a 4 years old, and I have promised myself if me and their dad decide to go our seperate ways I will do everything I can in my power to be nice to the new woman that would come in their life. See knowing my husband I have no doubt that he would bring a bad person on his kids life, because he loves them, and that is what we have to keep in mind...

      Fangirl Faye damn wish I could relate. Dad left me and my mum when I was 1. My mum started serial dating and introducing every single guy to me, regardless of the seriousness of their relationship. She finally got married 2 years ago after knowing the guy for a month at most. He treats me like I don't exist, and it feels like I'm living in a house with strangers. Luckily I'm moving out next year but it just sucks that I never had a father figure and my mum was always seeking attention from men so I never had a strong relationship with her either.

Took me to the hospital as I had a hard time breathing. Held me as I cried over my first heart break. Taught me how to drive. Never once did he tell me he my dad or that I was his daughter. He didnt have to, he just showed it. I gladly call him dad cuz he earned it.

      Clobbersaurus I mean, some people come from abusive relationships, like my parents. It is an ideal situation, but there is a reason parents get in these situations in the first place... some people don’t want to be parents even, after they separate from the other parent.
      It is a beautiful statement and dream, but a lot of the time not the case.

      Clobbersaurus why would anyone put someone else's child before their own that's just not how it works. reality is different and that's how we were born. no blood connection no unconditional love!!!

    • @bokarndiaye323
      @bokarndiaye323 6 лет назад +3

      I disagree with you, EatwithmeASMR. There's plenty of counterexamples to this: many adopted children, or children in reboud families, have the unconditional love of their parents, and many biological parents don't provide unconditional love - think of parents who are abusive to their child, or who throw them out because they're gay (which is litteraly putting the condition of being straight to their parental love...). So, you can't equate blood connection and unconditional love, because obviously, one can exist without the other, and having one doesn't guarantee the other.

    As a child of divorce that was (and still is contentious), I really appreciate videos like this. Divorce, with children, is something I do think people need models for and help navigating. The parents set the tone of the family dynamic that truly effects children who are put in the middle and can put the stepparents in awkward situations and situations they may not be well-equipped for. I think if more divorced parents learn to put their best foot forward, try to battle the natural jealousy and resentment, and learn to build a healthy, nurturing, and supportive environment for their kids and teach them how to accept positive stepparents who are good partners AND are making good faith efforts to be part of their stepchildren's lives, then these blended family dynamics can do a lot to teach children and help them grow into healthy and positive adults. I mean having four adult figures (assuming they're good people) guiding you as you grow up can be very beneficial.

      Shayan Abtahi I read yours and the other people above you's posts and it makes me feel so sad, because I also can relate. I'm angry bc I always wanted what the little boy has. And be able to see my parents in the same room together at least once, bc I never have, I was 1 when they divorced and the wars between them began, but this also makes me so happy because that boy will grow up with love and he will be one of the lucky few who maybe won't have to deal with depression or feeling of emptiness not having a certain parent in his life or growing up around so much hatred. This video was so amazing❤️ makes me certain my kids will never have to grow up In a household with divorced parents, and if they ever did, I would be certain there is no hatred.

      I agree, but it's a great example to follow and to reflect on. I myself am a mother of two girls and divorced. When my ex decided to re marry the only thing I could think of is, I hope she is a wonderful women not just for him bit because it meant that my daughters would have someone wonderful too. We just need to stop being self centered and learn to let go of what it's not ours and learn to love unconditionally.

    I'm so grateful for my step-dad for giving my mom a second, much better chance at love and my family a great amount of happiness. They started dating when I was a senior in high school (I'm 22 now) and I was a little cautious at first. My dad wasn't exactly the best husband to my mom and he left her when she needed him the most (he asked for a divorce right after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis). My mom never really wanted to be married again, and was happy on her own. I didn't want her to be hurt again when a new man came into her life. But quickly I found him to be supportive, kind, and always able to put a smile on our faces. He's disabled too (Ataxia), but it definitely hasn't stopped him from taking care of my mom when she isn't feeling her best. Unlike my dad, he takes her out on dates, goes on fun trips with her, and is always happy to try new things. I can't remember the last time I saw her so happy, and it feels like I've got a true father figure to look up to now. He's helped me through bad times, is always there for me, and is patient, emotionally open, and happy to talk (things my dad never was). I remember how much his face lit up the first time I gave him a father's day card. He may not be my actual dad, but it feels like we're a real family. I'll always be so thankful for the light he brought back into my mom's life.

    The parents are filled with good energy and it is what got them these wonderful new partners. Divorce almost always ends up hurting the kids involved, but in this case this kid is truly blessed to have such a loving extended family. I am in awe how they managed to push away these negative totally natural feelings of envy and insecurity and see the past it to appreciate each other.

    When I look at this family, I feel a kind of envy. My parents got divorced when I was 7, my younger sister was just born, my older brother 9. My parents never fought in front of us, they never gave us a hint that there may be something wrong. And then my father moved out and everything turnt. I don't remember anything concerning my family/family events/my mom/my dad/my siblings before the divorce. Everything is just "after". They never talked properly to each other, they had to go to court for alimonies. I guess they also sort of played us. My father more than my mom. Shortly after the split up he had found a new girlfriend, who he still is with today, and my mom never found anyone. I guess she wasn't ready when they were getting married and she feels like it is now too late to "catch up". Now has been 14 years ago by the way. I remember sitting on the couch with my father and talking about everything that was going on at the time and he said "I still love your mom -this much-. But my new girlfriend I love --THIS MUCH--." That was one of the toughest things to get. How could he say he still loved her, but treat her the way he did? When I was 11 I stopped talking to him, I stopped seeing him, I stopped calling him dad. That went on for a couple years and at 15 we began talking again. Just a little bit. When I graduated from High School and went abroad for a year our contact became something I even relied on. When we were talking about my mom he always sounded so full of pity. "Isn't it so sad that she hasn't found someone?" is what he would tell me. Over and over. Still does. Just words it differently.
    Sometimes I wish my parents would have been "normal people". They are both so messed up and messed me up a bit too. No big deal, since everyone is, but it still is really bittersweet to hear about a story like this. Even if the parents have their issues, they make their child's life comfortable and comforting. They know how important it is to let him breathe, but still give him the comfort of a loving family. A family that expands beyond his biological mom and dad. It's a real success story.
    Sorry about the ranting, I just really felt it tonight.

      Anna Charlotte I swear your story is so much like mine, except it's been 20 years and my mom still hasn't found anyone. SCP-087 just remember it is perfectly normal for them to not get along, when relationships (especially a marriage) end there will always be certain feelings that "muddy the waters" so to speak, but it is also perfectly normal for you to love them both, when you get older ask both of them for there sides of the story, and come to your own conclusion. My father abandoned my family when I was two, and for most of my life no one would speak about him except for in negative ways, so when I moved out at 18 I tracked him down, and started talking to him, eventually I got his side of the story and found his reasoning for leaving to be inadequate, and I hated him for the longest time, but as I got older I began to realize that I couldn't go around holding on to that hatred, it was ruining my life. So I did the only thing I could think of, i tried to forgive him; except I never got the chance as he committed suicide before I could. Now everyday I feel horrible for how things turned out, and i wish I had just one more chance to see him and tell him that I forgive him. I guess the point I'm trying to make is whoever was at fault for the divorce, you don't have to hate them for it, as in my experience that is no way to live. Love your family with every ounce of your being, as they're the only one you have, and this is the only shot at life we get.

      SCP-087 my only hope is that others can learn from my mistakes, life is too short for trivial things like hatred, thank you for taking the time to read my story, and if you ever need to talk about things, I'm sure your family is there for you, and if not myself and/or others like me are always there when needed. Have a great day and DFTBA.

    I am grateful! When my parents got divorced they stayed in same house in different rooms with their 6 children just bc they wanted to stick with us even tho it's hard to see you ex husband/wife everyday and I don't know how difficult it was for them but they did it for us and I really appreciate that!!! I am not going to deny that there were couples of fights, argues and disagreements but after all we became so strong and so successful and well raised by these two !!! In 2008 my dad passed away I miss him! And now me and my brother are staying with my mom and our oldest brothers and sisters are married having kids !
