It’s been a long time. De-mobbed a while back. Good to see new units for new defence needs. But I have to say that parade and marching standards seems to have dropped…at least in this video…especially for such a significant event. Also, units and men don’t ‘look’ intimidating as an armed force.

For those who maybe dont know, why sg government always change their general or chief of defence force is because they scared a coup if a person remains for too long
when there is a frequent change in the top post, many officers down the chain are also promoted to replace the vacated positions. This allows more pple to take on leadership positions, better than one CDF and Chiefs/Commanders holding their post for too long. 👍
Frequent change because they are needed to join PAP.

I'm sorry to say, marching, and coming to attention from the officers are so slack.
This Parade Commander's coming to attention leaves much to be desired. He can't do the foot stamping to attention at all.
Hardly 90 degrees and looks awful - as a full colonel, this should be basic standards to be adhered to.
When he accompanied the Minister CDF, CGO & Chief SM - 41:42 - was he marching or walking? Arm swing if marching was
hardly parallel to the ground. Perhaps he was just walking, in which case he shouldn't
swing his arms like he was in a half march-half walk. Looks neither here nor there.
As Parade Commander, he needs to get it right.
But at least he stood tall and straight in ceremonial No. 1 - his saving grace.
I was an infantry Specialist in my NS / reservist days : we were taught to march properly and be held accountable on the
parade square to proper parade standards.
Officers lead by example for all, and it's no excuse to see a high-ranking full Colonel march or come to attention in this manner.
Low standards for a high ranking officer, it's embarrassing to view this.
Outgoing CDF's beret is too small for him, and his beret tail was not tucked in properly beneath his beret -
a big no no. A LTG's decorum has to be spot on especially as CDF.
Our officers' decorum includes wearing the beret carefully, with the badge crest aligned right above the left eye : new CDF Admiral's
beret front rim line 1:08:33 was sloping at a slant instead of worn parallel and carefully - likewise his beret looked too small on him,
and it wasn't pulled down correctly as it should have been in a nice curve over his right eye. I'm perturbed as an ex army infantry
specialist to see how standards seem to have dropped to such a level and seems terribly overlooked. If any officer commissioned
or otherwise cannot look his part and be at his best, they compromise being the part especially in a military parade. The least anyone can
do when wearing the beret on parade is to at least look in the mirror and straighten it correctly before heading into parade? Can someone
not oversee the decorum of our officers especially senior ranking ones?
1:07:57 : the 3 officers who marched in with our national flag for the swear-in were tight-knit and almost rushing but their knees were not at
all parallel high to the ground in coming to attention or stopping. Arm was slack 1:08:12 when at attention for the accompanying
officer on the right. Why are our marching standards dropping to such a level, Sirs? The accompanying officer on the left
had his arm correctly extended when holding his weapon at full attention by comparison.
March properly with pride and dignity, or don't march at all, Sirs and men! Look sharp and make certain arms and legs are brought up 90 degrees
parallel to the ground because anything else below that is just sub-par. 1:18:40 was really unbelievable to watch. Colour Party at 1:20:05 -
I'm at a loss for words. Heels are not dug in at all into the tarmac when marching past - the contigents are "walking" casually past in a half-assed
manner when they are supposed to be marching past with heels dug in - makes all the difference - we can do so much better even though
this is"just a CDF change" ceremony.
It is my hope that the SAF tighten up their standards when on full parade display. It's why it is called a parade. No slackening please, Sirs
and RSMs on parade duty! I am proud of my country and have served it faithfully with pride, in NS and reservist days - as a mere 1SG.
I'm 53 this year but the army holds many proud memories for me especially during parades.
Uphold parade standards always; it's NON-NEGOTIABLE especially for our senior officers and warrant officers, so that the rest of the contingent
men in preparing for any parades follow suit. I understand this was likely a hastily put-together parade without adequate preparations. But still!
Please quit the slack and tighten up, Sirs, with all due respect, as it's embarrassing to watch.
