25 Nov 2024 What I have to say/commit here I have held back for 44 years now, out of respect for the man's service to the nation. That he was handpicked to be the future CDF by no other than the late Dr Goh Keng Swee is testament enough to the young military commander/aspirant's ability, capabilities and undoubted talent. No need to butter the conversation with unctuous and fawning behaviour. He did his job, got paid (relatively well) and enjoyed all the perks, benefits and privileges of his elevated position, rightly so, in tandem with his heavy responsibilities. Salute to him. But like @leegacy3099 I too have a rather unsavoury anecdote to reveal about the man, during his tenure as our military's highest top dog. Early 1981 it was I believe. Venue : Nee Soon Firing Range 1 or 2. Occasion : 1980/81 SAFSAM (Singapore Armed Forces Small Arms Meet, shooting competition). I was one of the participants (won for two Rifle Team events, Champion and Runners-Up). During the (late) afternoon his MID 10 Mercedes came around for a drop-in and as expected the various senior commanders present gathered round him, obsequious in their postures, gestures and intimidated/respectful behaviour. Understandably so. Then, without hesitation as all of us who witnessed it, he flung his (damned) cigarette onto the ground (Littering smoker!), took hold of a AR-15 or M-16 and without putting on a helmet proceeded to fire off a few rounds at the targets (that's a clear, undisputed violation of range safety and firing protocols!). Of course no one present reminded/or had the balls (perfectly legitimate word) to chide him for his breach of rules and regulations. This I vouch to be the truest incident upon my sacred oath of honesty and integrity. The fact that he was rotund in body physique was bad enough (No military general should be out of shape I resolutely demand! It's utterly disrespectful to the whole mandate of physical fitness/combat readiness ethos!). Even my staff sergeant next to me said it was a "disgrace" the way the general carried himself that afternoon, in full view of a witnessing public. I will leave it to viewers to form their own opinion/judgement on this incident. I do not believe it was a one-off uncharacteristic lapse of discipline. So to say irregardless if you’re well-versed in History or not you still based your understanding in hearsay, am I right? Well, I don’t usually waste time arguing with people of your kind but since you got so emotionally taken aback with my simple question posed - Did I allege anything in my sentences that he didn’t die in honour? Please point it out to me. Until you are able to do so I’m sad to say your beliefs remains a myth and you? A sad case.
It is still a rotten organisation nowadays not much has changed this is a trend mong Asian militaries. Our army is comparable to the South Vietnamese army, the higher echelons of command are just like the ARVN full of nepotism, arse-licking and empty flattery.
A civil servant should always be honest and not be PARTISAN. Serving the country is not serving the ruling party. Public servants is to serve the Public. The public means opposition voters and ruling party voters. Everyone will die. Leave a good legacy . Life is finite. Death is the final equalizer. How much wealth a person have also cannot be brought to the graves to be spent. The Constitution grants the People the power to vote against the ruling party to elect a new ruling party.

Aaron Zamorano Why should I? If you are so well-informed in History then your verdict on Adnan’s gallant deeds shouldn’t be based simply on your exchanges with your Indonesian friend. A sad case.
hai uncle winston
The SAF was a rotten organisation when Winston was in charge. When you watch this clip, you can understand why.
It is still a rotten organisation nowadays not much has changed this is a trend mong Asian militaries. Our army is comparable to the South Vietnamese army, the higher echelons of command are just like the ARVN full of nepotism, arse-licking and empty flattery.
The Heer, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe.

Amen and Haliluyah!!!! Jesus Christ Loves you , Great Uncle cheers always Thanksgiving to the king of kings.
👍👍👍👏
Very right
