At the cons I've been to in America, there is _both_ a dealer's den and an artist's alley. They take place in different rooms while it looks like at FurDU, it's all in one room. The dealers den is mostly for pre-made things like hats, necklaces, and plushies while the artist's alley is for custom art like badges and sketchbook sketches.
Aussie Fur Cons tend to be a lot smaller than those "Across The Pond" LOL. Therefore, its more cost effective for the organizers to put all the dealers together. I'd love to be able to attend an American Fur Con one day.
General difference between Artist Alley & Dealers Den at Furry Cons. Dealer's Den: The vendor area. Artists pay for the table and sell all weekend. Thank you for mentioning the last part about behaving! We had some furs in the room next to us that decided to do Disney Karaoke in their room at 1 in the morning!!! We called the hotel desk and someone came up to talk to them, but they still didn't calm down till an hour later. :( It was our last day too, we had to go home that morning. Not fun!
I've been to a ton of cons (not many furry ones yet but others) And there's some tips that I think are super helpful: 1: Remember the 3-2-1 rule: Sleep at LEAST 3 hours a day, have at least 2 meals a day, and shower every day at the con 2: Hopefully the shower one is clear- it's just respectful for everyone around you! 3: The sleep one is important and I will say you should sleep more if you can because I went through an anime con with no sleep and i was hallucinating cosplayers by the end of it and it was really bad 4: the food one is EXTRA important and not eating during a convention can get you sick and then you'll miss all the fun (also happened to me, I wasn't a smart kid) Check if the hotel has free breakfast, and also see what's in the area. And don't just eat ramen that will not sustain you. You can bring food along but you'll need to see if the hotel has a fridge/microwave/etc in the hotel room. I recommend trying local places as well with friends! 5:If you're drinking alcohol at the con, drink 1 cup of water for every cup of any drink you have. That will help keep you from getting a hangover! 6:If you can, bring vitamin c tablets with you because that will help keep you from getting sick. Cons have a lot of people, which means it could be easy to catch a cold or anything afterwards.

I'm traveling from tasmania to attend HCFC in Sydney. and I've never met any furries in Tasmania. extra hard for me as I'm both a newbie and a greymuzzle (at 46) but have considered myself a furry for nearly twenty five years

A convention aspect I'd really like to see someone make a video of is how to budget for a convention. While I know you need money for fare, registration, and lodging, I am not familiar with the general pricing of food, drink, or any products in the dealer's den and/or artist alley. This could vary, obviously, depending on the convention and the people offering products at said con, but it'd be nice to be given a range or estimate for a general convention. ^^; Love your videos, Pocari. Always so helpful and funny. :3
I can help! (sort of). generally, art made be dealers and/or artists is usually going to be on the pricy side because of the products hand made and detailed nature, so usually, depending on how much you want to buy, $150+ USD might be a good starting price for spending money. it might seem pricy but things can really add up once you get in there and see all the cool stuff. plus, if you're visiting from out of town you might need extra things for emergency supplies or misc. If you can't save up that much than at least $50 would be fair price to buy a few good things. for eating out I'll be honest, it'll most likely be cheaper to bring your own food but depending on where you're headed transporting food can be a problem. generally, if vendors are set up near or at the convention the food will be more expensive there or in the hotel (if the Inn has a resturaunt) because people will seize the opportunity to get you while you're hungry by being near the convention. It honestly depends on A. how many people you're paying for, B. how often you'll eat, and C. where you prefer eating (i.e if you like fancy food/ a specific type of food it might be more expensive). If you have trouble balancing you're money than you should regularly ask these questions before buying something: for food: 1. am I really hungry? (generally you can save a lot of money by having a good eating schedule so you don't waste money eating when you're full) 2. will this really fill me up? (it's good to bring snacks, especially if you're fursuiting and need a quick bite, but spending to much money on vending machines is a waste of cash). for buying products: 1. do I *REALLY* want/need this? 2. (in your opinion) is this [item] really worth it to spend this much money on? of course I'm not professional sorry for making this so long!!!!
Maybe headless lounges should have large lockers or something to keep fursuit parts in and general things which may be too big to keep in a backpack in or something.

What do you do if you're very shy at a con and it seems like everybody else is already in friend groups and busy? at a small con sometimes there is only 1-2 panels, a tiny dealers den, and friend groups who don't want to interact with others. I’m assuming I just walk into registration and show them the QR code I got, then I get my badge? Also, do people typically wear their suits while registering? I’m assuming they put them on after but I wanna be sure. Thank you!
Yeah! So registration is where you go to show them your online ticket so you get your physical badge that grants you entry into the con spaces. Depending on how large the con is it can be a long wait in a line, so most won't wear their suits. Nothing stopping you though! Good luck, and don't forget the con staff are always there if you need any help or have questions ✨

Dealers Den and Artist Alley are the Artist made areas. At Comic Con we also have Dealers District, which is the company made items.
