and dont forget if you cant find any meets...YOU CAN MAKE ONE! Pick a place that is easy to get to (accessible by public transport, close parking, etc), check whether or not the place will allow suits (make sure you let everyone know its a non suiting meet if not!!), pick a date and time and how often it will occur, and then post it in a group for your state or country's Furries! Here's some ideas for you:
- Public park BBQ (great for suits!)
- Bowling (ring them for suit permission)
- Mall (NO SUITS!)
- Ice skating (expensive but great for a monthly thing!)

Facebook has silly rules about profiles for fictional characters, which does include fursonas. You can normally go unnoticed by Facebook, but the supported way is to make a "Page" for the fursona. Of course you're supposed to use your real account to set up and manage the page, so I'm not sure what level of shielding your name gets there. I wish they'd just relax and officially let us make profiles for whatever we want.
Raven Snowfall I actually had someone flag my name for not being my actual name on my furry account, Facebook only asked to confirm that this was a name I am known by, seeing as all my furry friends know me by it, I kept it as my sona name

i met my two closest furry friends through school! i recently moved to a cool arts academy and as people quickly found out i was a furry they introduced me to the other furry in the grade. we quickly hit it off and from there he introduced me to skye, as she graduated from there the year before us. those two managed to get me going to sbfm and i've built up a pretty solid amount of fur friends from there. my younger self would be proud aha

I have met quite a few people by joining art streams. I get to talk with people without meeting them face to face right away so I don't feel as nervous. You also get to watch artists work in the meantime and that is pretty cool too.
I know from personal experience that making friends (of any kind) is extremely difficult. I couldn't recall how many times that I've embarrassed myself just trying to get someone to hang out. But, from those embarrassments, I learned how to be a better friend overall and have gained some really cool companions that I still hang with to this day.
I think I'm the only kid in my school who wants time to go by so I can move out, get a job and get a fursuit...

one day I was walking out of class, and I said "woah, I feel light headed", then blacked out. Apparently I fell and smacked my head on the metal pole railing, and when I woke up, a kid walked me down to the office. I got to know him better and eventually met the rest of his friends, who were also furries. *To think it started with a blackout*

I met my friends at some Georgia fur meets I wont lie I really sat on the sidelines the first time I went to one. But the next few times I worked up the nerve to really speak and met some amazing people and now we chat and hang out during cons and such, doing all of the rumping around in suit its really great 💘
I met my friend when they did a face reveal on furry amino and I realised that they wore my old school uniform! I started a conversation with them and we became friends eventually!
I just typed a wall of text but felt silly and anxious about posting it (publicly).

I just joined the fandom a few days ago. So I haven't met anyone in it yet, nor do I have a fursona. I would like to one day though, but with my health issues going out in public to conventions is very hard for me. I would also like a fursuit, but I would never be able to wear it due to the health issues, and I know the creators love to see there work out and about. So I've decided to try my hand at making them instead. I'm very good with art and I enjoy sewing so I hope I can make some suits people will enjoy in the near future.

I have been a furry for 5 years,but I didnt majorly involved until 2-3 years ago. There was a Telegram group that I joined for furs at my uni,and I Met several friends through that.
and One piece of advice for you guys from me : Don't do small talk very often. From my Experience, a lot of people online, and sometimes irl will generally ignore People who try small talk all the time. Most People want to have a real Conversation, Not just hi,how are you?

Sad truth: I've had someone constantly ask to be my friend and declare that they were friends with "someone popular" without my agreement and when I ignored them they threatened to murder me over Twitter. I wasn't looking for new friends or anything and after that happened I'd been apprehensive about meeting new folks for a while. What I'm saying is that there's a right way and a wrong way to become friends with folks.

I met my only furry friend irl because of fate. I was at an archery club, and there was a human there the same age as me. We both loved memes so we got talking, then my sister meets the kid as well, they get talking. Kid tells sister that he's a furry, and my sister's like "omg my sister is a furry too", so BAM WE HAD EVEN MORE TOPIC. I end up designing his fursona as he was struggling with it, and we are such good fwends now :3

Ive always been sort of a . . . low key furry? I wasn't associated with the furry fandom in terms of being an active member in the community, but I've always drawn them here and there, seen some fursuits occasionally and thought they were cool. It wasn't until earlier this past school year l that I made a new really good friend, and with him, came a whole group of friends. All of them are furries, which finally motivated me to become a huge furry fan and become a very active member in the community -- I'm even making my first fursuit and designed my first fursona.
Words can't describe how good this community is. Sure it has its bad bullies and overall not nice people, but so far all I've been subjected to is helpfulness, care, immense creativity, and fun! This fandom is truly something amazing.
Love you Pocari! 💜 I'm still not sure what to do. I can talk to strangers at anime cons, downtown, in an airport, I've been on stage, etc, and I adore my online furry friends! but when it comes to the people in the furry fandom I get... intimidated for some reason? I have no idea why this is. The fandom has been part of my life for at least eight years now but talking to other furries at meets and such is still strange to me. Been to both meets and cons and never can feel engaging enough. And I always think that there are precreated friend groups since people usually dont come to these events alone and I'm afraid of bothering people. I always feel "lower" than everybody else. I don't have this problem anywhere else so I don't know a good solution to this... Any ideas? I would really love to enjoy something like Anthrocon next year!!

I met most of my furry friends online, there are lots of chat rooms you can find if you just search for them.
Furmeet like Pocari said are another great way to meet local furs in your area, though they could possible be a few hours away depending on where you live.
thinking of this. it reminded me of my fursuit maker! we started out as just talking about the commission but then we added each other on discord and starting chatting a bit and then we became friends, and we had our first call! and now we are both so close and always talk to each other every day and i wouldn't trade our friendship for anything.
Amusingly, I found my way onto Second life and a Fallout Equestria (Fallout + My Little Pony) RP server entirely by accident, made friends, had fun and was rapidly made into a fan of the furry fandom in general, even with that server having gone down most of us still hang out in Discord and goof around in games and such or hanging out in SL.
And yes, Fallout Equestria is just as strange as it sounds, but it was a really fun setting to play around with, both due to the juxtaposition of cute ponies in a grim post-apocalypse, and the mix of tech and magic in ways that were quite enjoyable to tinker around with, it's kinda thinned out though, that was at it's height back in 2012.

Also, I hate making speeches especially in front of my classmates- It makes me sad that our teachers just immediately expect us to be confident and outgoing because we’re young :(
No one really listens to me and when I’m sad they don’t believe me which makes me even more sad. I don’t like leaving shops without buying something. I don’t like asking to cashiers for something, because last time I did that I payed for the wrong thing. I want hugs :)
I have pretty bad social anxiety so when I used to go to furmeets I got incredibly anxious and ended up leaving early because I just simply couldn't stand all the people there. All this changed when I got my fursuit because I realised that they can't see my face so I can go as red as my body wants me to and I can make little terrified faces and they don't even know! My fursuit has completely changed my anxiety and I don't get as anxious as I used to even without my suit.
Having social anxiety and being an introvert at the same time whilst having no friends really sucks.
I used to be like that for a while but I have now managed to make a few furry friends :D i find it a lot easier if you chat to people online first so things are less awkward before meeting them IRL
although i still cant really socialise for as long as others can go for without needing to take a break, i definitely feel less anxious around people than I used to!

I actually found out about my current furry community through friends at my school's anime club while I was in university!
Many furs are also active in other places where geeky people congregate, like gaming meets, anime/comic/sci-fi conventions, D&D and other tabletop gaming groups... I've even met furs at LARPs, lol!
Also, check out Southern Furries if you live in Mississippi, and Louisiana Furries if you live there! I'm part of both and they are SUPER nice!

I met my best furry friend who really got me into the fandom by ordering a badge from Etsy. I mailed her art back, she mailed back, and we became pen pals. Then we transitioned to Email, then Skype, and now telegram and DeviantArt. We're really good friends, as we have been for over a year.

oh boy. personally if people ask me to do free art or to draw them. Which when someone asks "can you draw me?" I want to say no but I just can't. it's so hard to say no exspecially to young furries or people in general. I just can't, as a just starting out artist I can't pass it up as much as I want to
i hate it when people say that rainbow suits are trashy but i have a frusta that is part parrot so it makes sense that it would be more that 3 colors
I sort of made acquaintances with one furry at a photoshoot. We don't really talk much but they seem nice and I'm glad I met them.
The way I made furry friends is by someone inviting me to a local meet back in December. I had just gotten my partial and had been interested in making friends. well a friend of mine invited me to this meet. I didn't know what to expect but I went and made so many furry friends. Now I attend their meets every month and it has been an amazing experience in the community. I also am going to the groups convention October 6th through 8th in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
I met my best furry friend on furry amino. He was drawing art for my furry youtube channel but we still chated and now we have known each other for almost a year!

Ahhhhh! >w< I'm so glad this actually gave examples of what to bring up, rather than just 'go talk to people'.
I'm better about it now, but when I was younger that advice really would confuse me, because I didn't understand what to talk about. Usually ended up saying hi and them immediately jumping into a conversation about dinosaurs or the like.
I dunno. Just wanted to say I thought that was really nice, since I've not actually seen anybody think more into it when giving advice, and the examples were just pretty helpful.

in my city. bc the admin of the only online group for the city is very spiteful and "bans" people over personal reasons. lol.
like im "banned" from the furmeets he hosts and from the online group, bc i told him him he was not a great admin for saying "if you are getting harassed by group members its not my problem" he was going to let me back in, but then me and another fur in that group went through a break up so im permanently banned to avoid making in "uncomfortable"
i have 3 local close furry friends, and i public fursuit and go to the yearly public meets still. but really people in this city are REALLY spiteful and rude so i prefer online furry friends haha.

I have realised yes, this video is 4 years old…but if anyone is still hanging around now, how do I meet other furries as a “YOUNG FUR” I’m planning to go to a con next year, but all this stuff is making me think it’s easier if I’m older suiters age. Like if they are 20 and I’m not even 14, how do interact with them in a cool way? I’m very socially awkward, may seem like and easy thing for some people, but not…really for me….
Yeah, it's kinda the same for me... it double sucks because my entire family hates furries and if i try to defend them then my mum will probably just ban my devices or smthn.
i have been furry for 6 years now. I have noticed that you end up going through 50 or so people and friends before you find the few that you really love and get along with, most often people will ignore you out of nowhere or just kinda fall away, and that's ok i guess. never made friends with any local furies really. i have tried to get to know my local community online before i go to a meet, and i am kinda afraid of meeting some pretty messed up people. so it never really worked out. and yeah, i am too shy and awkward to go to any meets alone. so oh well that is out for me, but it's ok. ^^ Another thing i have noticed is when i try to go out of my way to make friends it never really works out, most of my friends have found me instead. i'm not sure if anyone ells has had the same experience? maybe i don't really resonate with a lot of furries being into partying and drinking a lot, something I'm not really into. i would rather have a deep conversation and enjoy some down to earth stuff and share creativity and hugs. but who knows. = ) good luck finding friends if you are looking, you will find them, don't worry. just keep trying. even if it takes a few years ^^
Me and my friend met when we were 9 were 12 now and we both became furries and she told me about the fandom which was awsome I wouldn't find this fandom without her.Shes changed my life and was awsome.we met on ps3
I only have 1 furry friend as of right now and it was a random encounter. I started volunteering at my local animal shelter and there was a girl there named (we will call her Ann) Ann. And one day I was washing the food bowls in the kitchen and she had came back for lunch and somehow we had started talking and the mention of furries came up and we both realized that we were both furries. So now we hang all the time and we are actually making our first fursuits together.

Yes that first step is always very hard for me when meeting new people or meeting people you only know from the internet. I always tend to take a while to work up courage to say hi. I'm getting better at it though I hope.

I had amino but then my brother found it on my phone made me delete my account and told my mom (I didn't make a new account because now they go through my phone every day and I feel so sad because I had a lot of freinds on amino and now I can't talk to them) and now they (my mom and brother my dad left when I was younger) aren't comfortable around me because they only know about the bad part of the fandom and won't let me explain the fact that the bad side is a minority in the fandom and I only know like two other furries in real life
Im a young furry, but i have made some online friends and brought them into the fandom :D I use this app called Sketch witch is a drawing social media app, u can make art and post it around the world, and i rlly love it :3 Someone asked me in the comments a while back to draw them, so i did, and since that day they loved my art. She kept asking for requests and then another girl came in asking me to draw hers, and i did. Then we all started making art of each other and became friends :D One of them isnt active anymore, idk why, but the other is vary nice and i posted my "fursuit" (everything from amazon) and she loved it and thought it was so cool, then i told her about u, and she found out about fursuits, and etc, then fell in love with dutchies xD But yea, we r still good friends today,

story of how I met my best furry friend:
I run a fursuit maker page on instagram and I had someone ask for a trade for my sockpaws (which are very popular. I really have to make more.) Like I have to be honest. The fursuit head she was offering wasn't the best, and she was a stranger so I declined. I did end up advertising her head being up for sale/trade on my personality ig tho.
afrerwards we had small conversations here and there and one day she asks "Hey can I draw your character?" and I said okay and even offered an art trade which she gladly accepted.
From there we nust started becoming closer and closer friends, and now we have a whoke universe where our fursonas and Oc's live in (as well as several to 3dgy 4 me AUs becuase where dorks)
So yeah. Another way to make a friend is to hit up a new fursuit maker with a trade, have them decline, and then make them art.
Speaking of making friends online, I have furry friend in Tasmania. I love being able to connect with people all around the globe.

I *really* want to go to a furry meet, but my parents won't let me for two reasons: 1) Its halfway across the state. 2) "We don't want you around other 'furries'. You know we don't like the fandom." (Thats a direct quote) My parents have only seen the bad side of the fandom and have applied it to the rest of it. :( The only reason they're letting me be in it and have a fursuit is because they said I can't publicly classify myself as a furry or call the fursuit a fursuit. Any tips for being in this situation?

FA has some *really* old content of small meets and the like at my university, but this college town is legitimately in the middle of nowhere. There is nothing here. This is gonna be a little harder than I thought.
My country is small and its kinda helpful. The furries here made a groupchat and they find as many furries as possible and add them to the chat. We even have a con called "unicon" and we meet up there. I love the fact that most of the furries here are my friends :)

I actually made a furry friend at A SUMMER ART CLASS. Neither of us have fur suits, but we're furrys. You could probably make furry friends anywhere I think. Probably not. But it was nice to find a furry in a art class. ^v^
