People don’t seem to understand what went on before - because the chairman was acting unreasonably they used an act where two councillors could call a meeting. Instead of just acting appropriately with someone who had been invited to mediate what was clearly a committee with issues, he chose to start off by challenging that person because he just didn’t want a meeting to go ahead. If a situation needs mediating it’s because the people in charge aren’t conducting themselves properly previously - it’s a parish council not a dictatorship 🤣

@@dave3580 job? being a councillor is a voluntary/unpaid position, the only paid member (as far as the sources say) was the Clerk. Why would he be worried?

They’re not. I’m 26 and am a parish councillor and we’re very civilised.
Mine isn’t! My parish council picked on the female clerk, sexist and generally rude to her. It was really quite upsetting to see. I felt so sorry for her. Then they all drank wine and drive home. That was the last meeting I attended. It wasn’t very nice at all. There was a lot of bullying!

This guy did well. As did Jackie, who healed it together very well. The chairman’s behaviour was reprehensible. Like a petulant juvenile. Nasty, patronising, bullying & misogynistic attitude. Heaven help us if we have eejits like this making decisions for local people. Looking forward to the next episode for the entertainment value. You couldn’t make it up.

Helen, for those of us who live in Handforth and know this clown, nothing he's said is true. He's a well-known as Walter Mitty. How would you like it if he turned to you in a Parish Council Meeting as a Councillor and said, "Why are you look at me?" for you to respond, "Have you got a problem?" for him to write an email 2 months later claiming you said, and I quote directly from that email which is in my possession, "I'm going to do you!" Don't about you but something's not right here and he's lying!!

Well it is legally required to be open to the public and as meetings can only happen by video conference, anyone should be able to attend. That said, I'm sure the council will want to avoid the publicity if at all possible. Next meeting is scheduled for Wed 10th Feb according to the minutes of the last meeting.

There are clearly people commenting on here who have not watched the whole video, particularly those who feel Jackie Weaver was inappropriate in her actions. You need to watch the whole thing to appreciate the context and why she was there in the first place.
The previous council meeting gives a bit more context but I'm still confused about what's gone on here exactly, other than to say the chairman and deputy chair are up to some kinds of shenanigans and we're attempting to abuse council protocol to get their own way on issues of a pecuniary nature.

I’ve never attended a meeting where the clerk can overrule the chairman. Surely it’s the chairs responsibility to preside in such cases.
What if the chair is acting unreasonably, does that give then authority to act exactly as they please? If it isn't the law that a clerk or some other member can overrule, then it should be.
@@pelthain2385 Well he refused to have the meeting, despite two different requests from a group of councilors. They found legislation that overrides his powers to allow the meeting to be held and he threw the toys out of the pram.
In the event of a chairman’s behaviour being unreasonable, the option of a vote of no confidence is the appropriate response surely.
@@eshcatologist8557 how do you have a vote of no confidence if they refuse to conduct an orderly meeting, and refuse to let anyone else hold one instead?
A special meeting is called if there is consensus within the group with the express purpose of holding that vote, which is carried out even in the event of the chair being absent. The result of the vote stands.

That's basic cognitive behaviour 101. Secondly, Al and his family are very well respected by his neighbours. It's only the idiots at 3, 4 and 5 who indifferent. Finally, Al did not lie about the High Court. I was there when it all went down and I wasn't alone. I was one of 20 to 25 members of the public from Handforth, Wilmslow, Knutsford and Poynton. Al won and won by a long way. In terms of not agreeing with me, wake up and smell the air. No one likes the Clown Council nor anyone on it or associated with it. I think what might benefit you is coming and knocking on Al's door, that's if you are up to it.
