There seems to be a plot to oust the council chair. My guess is the clerk is operating the account intended for the chair in her own name while the chair has been assigned to clerks account. The clerk has the virtual powers that the chair should have. My mum is Sue and my dad is Peter I love them both 😂😂 and do you know my mum is the most amazing person ever and I know I am biased but I really mean it. Throughout the whole pandemic she has been there and helped so many people (never mind it was me a lot of the times picking the prescriptions up and the shopping) however she has tried her best in the most difficult situation , do you know the biggest thing . She cares !she cares about people and what happens in the community and She always has . They are the best parents I could have ever asked for. ❤️

Cheshire East Democratic Services advised the Handforth Parish Council clerk, Ashley Comiskey Dawson, that a new vacancy for that councillor position had been created. However Chairman Tolver, councillors Brewerton and Burkhill wanted Ashley to reinstate that councillor, however this would have been unlawful according to Cheshire East Democratic Services. On 25th June, Ashley received in error an email from the Chairman who was looking at legal ways to get rid of Ashley. This resulted in relationships breaking down between the Chairman and the Clerk. On 4th November Councillor Burkhill stated that due to the serious of the concerns of the Clerks actions he should be suspended. These concerns were not shared by Councillors Moore, Samson and Smith. Cheshire East Council’s Monitoring Officer, David Brown, who ensures all authorities in the area behave in a lawful way had received numerous complaints about HPC and so an investigation was launched. A meeting was called by Cllrs Smith and Moore because Chairman Tolver ‘refused’ to do so. Therefore on 10th December the above Zoom meeting took place with Jackie Weaver facilitating it. She is the Chief Officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils (CHALC). Although only invited to the meeting out of politeness and respect Chairman Tolver assumed his role as Chair. Now this video makes sense... well no...
This is absolutely fascinating. All of these meetings for all council meetings should become public. I am remembering how an old surgery building in Todmorden - also a protected asset, if I recall - spent 20 years empty, with each passing year becoming more dilapidated. The town had tons of offers from various developers but the council turned them all down because they didn't want to ruin the character of the town. It's an interesting dilemma, really. A supermarket would have offered local jobs - but equally would have impacted other local businesses. Turning it into housing would have meant demolishing the existing building. So we're left with an eye sore for years and years whilst it fell into disrepair because offers to develop it into housing or shops were turned down. I can understand all points of view - one of those situations where you have to accept that not everyone will be happy... And then choose what is best for the town, on balance.
Something similar in the town I used to live in except the town council voted to tear down several buildings on Main Street--those being the original buildings of the town, at that, and one of them was occupied by a minority-owned business. The town council voted to declare them dilapidated beyond repair and a danger and to tear them down. Except they only tore the rear parts of them down, and left the front parts of them standing. These are two-story brick buildings, so now the sidewalk in front of them has to be cordoned off because there is some danger that any one of the "facades" that are left could collapse and squash someone. They've been like that for several years now, while the town council argues about how much money it would take to finish tearing them down, build new buildings attaching the original facades to them to retain the "flavor" of the town, or just wait until a hurricane blows in off the Atlantic and blows them over and pay for clean-up instead. Truth was that they were not dilapidated beyond repair any more so than any other two story brick building on Main Street in any American town is. They needed updating, and some new windows, and there were no doubt bats in the upper stories and rats in the lowers, but the buildings themselves were no danger. What the town council was thinking was.....oh I'm being kicked out.
Its a very sad indictment , I work with 5 Parish councils and they really are dedicated to make a difference, the behaviour of some in the video is both embarrassing and quite appalling at a time when many communities have come together in these difficult times and this is a slap in the face of so many good people in Parish Councils who work hard to make a difference.

A meeting was called by Cllrs Smith and Moore because Chairman Tolver ‘refused’ to do so. Therefore on 10th December the above Zoom meeting took place with Jackie Weaver facilitating it. She is the Chief Officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils (CHALC).
Although only invited to the meeting out of politeness and respect Chairman Tolver assumed his role as Chair.

This is absolutely fascinating. All of these meetings for all council meetings should become public. I am remembering how an old surgery building in Todmorden - also a protected asset, if I recall - spent 20 years empty, with each passing year becoming more dilapidated. The town had tons of offers from various developers but the council turned them all down because they didn't want to ruin the character of the town. It's an interesting dilemma, really. A supermarket would have offered local jobs - but equally would have impacted other local businesses. Turning it into housing would have meant demolishing the existing building. So we're left with an eye sore for years and years whilst it fell into disrepair because offers to develop it into housing or shops were turned down. I can understand all points of view - one of those situations where you have to accept that not everyone will be happy... And then choose what is best for the town, on balance.
Something similar in the town I used to live in except the town council voted to tear down several buildings on Main Street--those being the original buildings of the town, at that, and one of them was occupied by a minority-owned business. The town council voted to declare them dilapidated beyond repair and a danger and to tear them down. Except they only tore the rear parts of them down, and left the front parts of them standing. These are two-story brick buildings, so now the sidewalk in front of them has to be cordoned off because there is some danger that any one of the "facades" that are left could collapse and squash someone. They've been like that for several years now, while the town council argues about how much money it would take to finish tearing them down, build new buildings attaching the original facades to them to retain the "flavor" of the town, or just wait until a hurricane blows in off the Atlantic and blows them over and pay for clean-up instead. Truth was that they were not dilapidated beyond repair any more so than any other two story brick building on Main Street in any American town is. They needed updating, and some new windows, and there were no doubt bats in the upper stories and rats in the lowers, but the buildings themselves were no danger. What the town council was thinking was.....oh I'm being kicked out.
It gets better. Burkhill is the 'face of Cheshire East'. The Mayor. Brewerton is a Solicitor.

I highly doubt these people actually get ANYTHING done.
Its a very sad indictment , I work with 5 Parish councils and they really are dedicated to make a difference, the behaviour of some in the video is both embarrassing and quite appalling at a time when many communities have come together in these difficult times and this is a slap in the face of so many good people in Parish Councils who work hard to make a difference.

SO glad I found this video! I really hate "best of" compilations when it comes to live disasters like this. Same with that viral video that was going around in "cringe" circles a few years back called "KDOC new years show of FAIL" and it outperformed the full version in views by many times. I HATE that!
