    I've been making the same argument for a year or so now, about how we've (specifically the USMC Infantry) gotten away from self sufficiency and studying field craft. Glad to see someone with a solid following bring it up.

    • @cm-pr2ys
      @cm-pr2ys Год назад

      What do you mean by field craft?

    • @snarkywriter1317
      @snarkywriter1317 Год назад +5

      @@cm-pr2ys Pretty sure Hamski means conducting military operations for extended periods without immediate access to vehicles and resupply (i.e., long-range recon patrol on foot, that sort of thing). Most MOUT and counterinsurgency operations, as the video alluded to, have overall tended to be vehicle-mounted with ready access to either ground or aerial resupply, so guys can pack and set their kit up in a very minimalist fashion, and ignore a lot of the sustainment equipment that a unit would need if they had to stay functional in the field for more than a few hours/days at a time based only on what they are carrying themselves and don't need to practice the knowledge of how to use sustainment gear, set it up, and if needed improvise and supplement it from what you have available in the AO and in your gear. I would say, though, that even with good training in field craft those sorts of operations are eventually unsustainable and resupply does have to happen, since you can only carry so much stuff before you lose effectiveness and you can only forage so much before you either lose mission focus or turn the locals against you.

Great for everything you said for recon patrols but it also looks like the perfect size for a cannon and lenses for moving to and from PB/HS to OP/FFP also looks like it would fit night optics real nice like the muns or pas28 being able to carry that on a belt line would be sick wouldn’t need a “go bag” reducing the shit we hump out also We need that need that fanny in our lives, Breaching cool but folding handsaw and veg clippers on the front loop FFP building gear on the inside freaking dope. Would fit nice on the lower back while skull dragging un like the V shape nut rucks you can only really fit admin stuff in, anyway nice setup man

    Old is new once again! Very similar to the ALICE belt rig I built out in the early 2000s taking inspiration from the kits commonly seen from Vietnam through the 90s and into the early GWOT- Y suspenders on the old ALICE "pistol belt." Front to back, mirrored, 2x 3mag pouches with the dual frag stowage, pistol holster one side- k-bar and radio pouch the other, 2x 1qt canteen pouches, then the old sustainment butt pack center rear, with much of the same contents! A bit less modular, and a little less comfortable than newer iterations like this, but nonetheless still kinda relevant! Good content, Adam!

      Lots of companies make belt and suspender kits, or similar. Check out getting a surplus Eagle SFLCS. You can pick them up for like $50 and they're solid. They have the same sort of split front two buckle front end and a removable back panel, so I think this custom rig was based on the SFLCS.

      @@ExplosiveFetus this. SFLCS is a Molle version of the LBE in my thumbnail. My understanding is that LBT made the first one in this style for the SWCC guys. It’s got swim fin straps on the suspenders, and machine gun tool pouches. Blackhawk and Eagle made their own versions of this style of LBE. Eagle’s version was better made and performed the molle tasks better, but my Blackhawk LRAK is still bomb proof.

    This is why we ain't gonna win. So much great info in here that it seems a lot of people skipped over. Water and batteries were on my packing list, but gun cleaning and hygiene were not, thanks for the ideas!

    Top shelf stuff. Armour may affect things but the waist is where soldiers have carried gear for hundreds of years and for good reason I'd say.

      It's often glossed over. Machinegunners have it the worst. For whatever reason, we forget that they have to carry a tremendous amount of ammo. The hips are the key.

    I kinda want to see those big Ole pouches on the market. Those would be great for my saw gunner
