Wow one of the best videos I have seen of the Zoo. You guys are so aware and so observant of the what there is in there. So interesting and beautiful.............
I love the way you guys organized this video! For example, how you guys cared to show clippings of each item you were talking about...like showing us the night safari when u referred to it!
My family loves visiting the Zoo. We head out early so we can catch the shows. We pack our lunch & snacks though, as the food court is expensive & gets very crowded. We love to picnic at this particular spot which overlooks the reservoir.

Nice walkabout..! Looks like a Fennec Fox.. and Binturong supposed to smell like popcorn.. Btw, did you guys visit the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve to spot the wild crocs..?
As a local, my advice for your viewers would be to get the park hopper, visit the Zoo first thing in the morning (you can bring your breakfast and seat near the Orang Utans enclosure to eat, while watching them go about their morning), spend a day there, at about 3pm head over to the River Wonder and wander till closing. Then do what you guys did with the Night Safari. But you definitely have to set a whole day out of your itinerary to fully enjoy the parks.
I think what you had for dinner is called Hor Fun, which is rice noodles (kway tiao) cooked together with many ingredients. Don't think we call it Chow Fu here in Singapore 😀 This is a common dish found in many of our heartland foodstalls (we call them Zi Char stalls) where dishes are cooked on the spot and you will have that lovely woke hei smell and taste 😋
We ate at the Flavors of Penang and I only read what was on the sign. 🤷♀️😂 It does sound similar though. Maybe they changed the name to make it sound more exotic. 😉
Hers was called gong fu chow or some called it yun yung chow fun (in cantonese) which is a mixture of rice noodles and hor fun (flat rice noodles). It's very common in Malaysia. You can order them in zi char stalls.
Thank you for this amazing video!! I'm a member so I visit these three zoos all the time. It's going to be awesome when the new Bird Park opens and there will be FOUR zoos to visit!! :)
Ha! We did also visit the current Jurong Bird Park! I don't think we would have been able to add a 4th park to that day - it was a lot to do 3! I'm glad you're a member and use that membership - they were great!
It depends! Have you/they seen pandas before and is that important? If so, I'd do the River Wonders. If they don't like water life, then the main zoo is a great choice with tons to do. That said, the night zoo is totally unique - seeing the animals at night was amazing (and more natural, I think, because many of the animals are nocturnal) and I'd highly recommend that zoo if a night zoo works for your schedule. I think the kids would really enjoy seeing the animals at night.
I think there are 2 species of otters in the zoo, the ones you captured should be the Asian Small Claw Otters which exist in the wild in Singapore technically but I think only at an island Pulau Ubin (accessible by Ferry and you can rent bicycle there for a ride) but very elusive though. It is the same species of otters that was in the Night Safari show. The other one is the Giant Otters of the Amazon which is actually that giant statue you saw at the start of the video. Hope you get to see all the animals in the zoo. The main species of Urban Wild Otters are the Smooth Coated Otters... they all over Singapore but most people goes to Marina Bay area to look for them. It depends! I don't think I'd do all 3 parks with kids. That would be too much. For 2 adults who start first thing, I think all 3 are possible. River Wonders can be done pretty quickly, if you don't read everything. I'd do that first, then spend the rest of the time at the main zoo. Rest during dinner, before the Night Safari opens. It's doable! (but yes, tiring)
Aw man, go watch the singapore zoo shows, they are great, I kept watching them as a kid, im a teen now, but i love singapore zoo so much, and im local born singaporean
We have a few we use! We primarily use a DJI Pocket Osmo (1st gen) and a DJI Osmo Action Cam. We also use a Sony rx100 (7th gen) and my cellphone (Samsung S20). Each of them is pretty compact on their own!
The Night Zoo for sure, because the entire concept is so different from everywhere we've been. Singapore Zoo has tons to see and do (easily a full day), but River Wonders has pandas (and that fun ride). You'll have to choose your second one!
@@exs1803 it was actually so funny when they had the clip showing the snoozing Panda right after the one showing Homer Simpson doing his SMRT/SMART rap. Immediately, I thought, 'oh, there's Homer snoozing!"
It depends on which zoo, or how many you go to! River Wonders can be done in a half day (4 hours). The main zoo is bigger and I think takes longer. The Night Safari has shorter hours and I'd get there when they open. 😊
People will usually visit the zoo first in early morning to cover all grounds as it's too big and to beat the afternoon heat. You can generally finish River Wonders within 1 and half to 2 hours (if you skip the shows). And Night Safari is highly recommended to all tourist!! Do try to visit Night Safari next time when it's Halloween, it's one of the most popular event throughout the entire calendar year and usually there's a massive queue during pre-covid time. And I'm one of them peeling the prawn shells without using my fingers hahaha!! It's always finger licking good! We don't give out napkins due to the fact people will actually abuse it and it's not really environmental friendly. One tip to get cheap tissues, try to look out for the senior citizens or those who had disabilities selling tissues around the hawker centres/MRT stations. Most do sell $1 for 3 packets, hardly $2 but I won't say it doesn't exist. These seniors selling tissues are either retiree wanting to 'kill time' by earning some extras or really trying to make ends meet. Despite us having such a high GDP and having a government taking care of citizens, they do exist, hard fact. Looking forward to your next video!
Night Safari has a Halloween event?! That sounds amazing!! We bought tissues from a lady at Satay Street and we definitely paid a tourist price. It was the price of desperation, too - because we really needed the napkins. 😂😂😂
@@TalesFromOurPocket YES, you're absolutely right!! Can't believe it right!? Halloween celebration with animals! You can do a search and result will pop out immediately. I can understand your need of napkins a pain 😂 Even I sometimes have trouble with it.
No, most hawkers and food courts don't provide napkins. Some restaurants provide wet tissues with extra charges...which most Singaporeans will return so as not to pay for them. In this Asia region, we all bring along our own packs of tissues. Cafes would more likely provide napkins. Anyways, we all need tissues (1 piece from eateries is not enough) so most people will have them in the bag or pockets.
@@TalesFromOurPocket yup, the Jurong Bird Park is scheduled to move into the Mandai Wildlife Reserve and they will be opening the Rainforest Wild in the same area as well, all part of the Mandai Rejuvenation Project
2 weird stories at the zoo: 1. Once, on my bday my MITHER bring my fam to go to the zoo and guess what, A ROAMING MONKEY CHASED A BOY AND STOLE KFC- 2. There was a peacock that entered the kangaroo viewing place where all the people was.
Actually, for the boat ride in River Wonders, if you paid close attention to the sign as you are exiting, it says that you can ride again for free. When my family was exiting from the boat ride, I happened to casually glance to the ride and saw the sign. So I stopped and told my family and we rode again. We went on Saturday during the weekends and there were quite a lot of people queueing for the ride when we went, so you guys weren't an exception. A lot of people don't know about this or they don't care to ride again because they are on a schedule to go to a particular enclosure to see the animals' feeding or catch one of the shows. But if anyone visiting SG sees this or is a local going to the River Wonders, just letting you guys know.
Its our culture to bring tissue paper with us. or else we go to the sinks to wash our hands. or else napkins are usually at the store where the utensils are
@@TalesFromOurPocket It's China's policy that all pandas are on-loan to the different countries for a number of years only, and if there are panda offspring born overseas these babies have to be returned to China at the end of the loan period. I can't wait to see next episodes 🥰
Thank you!! 🙏🏻😊
@@TalesFromOurPocket No need to thank me actually I had better thank you 'cause your videos are very satisfying and so much fun.
How many hours does it need to visit zoo?
Those foxes you saw in the night safari show were likely fennec foxes, not artic foxes
Yep, you're right!
S--m-rt!... LOL!! love your sense of humor..cos i love the Simpsons too..
😂😂😂 I think you're the first one to comment about our SMRT joke!! You win a 🏆 prize!!
Do they have strollers for rent ?
Oohhh, great question! I don't remember seeing any but I wasn't looking for them. sorry!
The most exciting part is really the night safari, we don't really get to experience seeing nocturnal creatures ourselves
Agreed!!
surprised the restaurant did not provide napkins. maybe they forgot. can ask for them too.
Hahaha, I guess maybe it's a western thing to receive napkins?? Thankfully we did have a small pack that we bought on Satay Street!
@@TalesFromOurPocket for sit-down restaurants they will usually provide.
Ahh, thanks!!
They don't hv service charge n GST, it's a self service restaurant 😁
That large-earred fox is a fennec fox :)
Hahaha, yeah - you're not the only one to point out that we got it wrong! 😊
@@TalesFromOurPocket 😊 I guess so haha. In any case, great job with the video! 👏 I shared it with my Facebook group Singapore Wildlife Encounters :D
Oh gosh, thank you so much! 😊😊😊
@@TalesFromOurPocket Anytime! The pleasure's mine 😊
Wait what I went to the zoo today and I came home and saw this video. How does the internet always know stuff?
❤️❤️❤️ Creepy sometimes, right?!
Come back in 2025/2026, 2 more zoos will be up and a few free to do activities will be included too :)
What?! This sounds amazing!
@@TalesFromOurPocket yup, the Jurong Bird Park is scheduled to move into the Mandai Wildlife Reserve and they will be opening the Rainforest Wild in the same area as well, all part of the Mandai Rejuvenation Project
Hope you all visit to Safari Zoo in Indonesia.. so recomend
Thanks for the suggestion!
I heard one of the panda is expecting!😊
Oh gosh, amazing!!
14:20 cannot be arctic fox. I think that's fennec fox.
I think you're right!! 👍
I am going to challenge myself to visit 4 zoo in a day. I really hope I can make it.
Oh man, good luck!! That would be one really long day!
Man, Pandas have it gooood
Hahaha, right??
2 weird stories at the zoo:
1. Once, on my bday my MITHER bring my fam to go to the zoo and guess what, A ROAMING MONKEY CHASED A BOY AND STOLE KFC-
2. There was a peacock that entered the kangaroo viewing place where all the people was.
Both are fun stories! Seeing the roaming monkey out and about was probably quite the surprise!
Gave you like cause none of the primates threw poop at you 😂 that comment killed me!
😂😂😂😂🙈🙊🙉 thanks!!
As a Singaporean, my first thought is: We have so many zoos???
Hahaha, surprise!! 😂
That's a Fennec Fox :)
Hahaha, yeah - you're not the first to point that out! Whoops! :)
What?? You're telling me we didn't get the extra ride because of our youthful excitement? 😭😂 Thanks for letting everyone know!
Eat the shrimps with the shells. It's CALSIUM!
Just chew the shells?! 😲😲😲
@@TalesFromOurPocket YES! It's edible and crunchy but don't chew on lobsters' shells!
Let's Go!!!
😂❤️😂
Its our culture to bring tissue paper with us. or else we go to the sinks to wash our hands. or else napkins are usually at the store where the utensils are
👍👍👍👏👏👏
😊😊😊
Waiting host
😍
The pandas belonged to China. The baby panda was born in Singapore, but will go back to China 😭
It will?! 😭 We knew they belonged to China but didn't know baby would leave. That's really sad!
@@TalesFromOurPocket It's China's policy that all pandas are on-loan to the different countries for a number of years only, and if there are panda offspring born overseas these babies have to be returned to China at the end of the loan period. There is a joke going around that the pandas in Singapore probably do not want to go home cos they are too comfy in Singapore LOL
i went to singapore zoo and river safari on 2021 dec trust me i died- my legs couldnt even lift up anymore xD but it was worth it
So much walking!! 😳 But yes, definitely worth it!!
Join us cycling day n night
